Angled Dip Bars

I’ve never used an angled dip bar.
Was wondering if they hit the chest more directly.

Even at an angle your form while performing the dip should be pretty similar to neutral bars. I know you can mix it up by trying to lean your head forward and have your legs back more while dipping to hit your stabilizer muscles like your core better. Just a thought!
Hey Sam,are you referring to the handles and how most stations have two positions?
I often wondered if they allowed people of different sizes to be able to use the dip station. For me the more parallel I am with the station focuses more on my triceps, in the same way if I lean towards the machine with knees bent and feet outward,I feel it more in my chest. If that makes sense.
I may be misunderstanding your comment.
I’m just thinking different angles. At my age that’s the only way to improve.
I’m at that point , just not ready to try to maintain.
Reps reps after more reps are the only thing that help Older men in their older years improve. Plus diet... leave the heavy weight alone not saying you do it. Trying new things wont hurt.
I like them better. Honestly the only difference I really feel is less strain on the wrist when you have heavy weight around ur waist. I also like that you can kind of pick the width you want to use. Can’t say I’ve noticed much difference in my shoulders but my shoulders are fairly healthy (Knock on wood).
My shoulders aren’t bad for an old guy,
I’ve been switching arms, Nohomo
Are you still able to flat bench Sam or have you knocked that on the head now?
Flat bench is no problem but my grips went closer over the years.
Manateeswimmer5678Hey Sam, I love angled dip bars because of the flexibility they provide and allow. If you want to Target chest more face towards the base of the V that way it causes elbows to be more naturally outwards to Target the chest. If you want to focus on triceps, face the other way towards ends of the V. That will cause your elbows to be more close to your body therefore hitting your triceps more. I never liked leaning forward for dips to hit chest more because of the discomfort I had in my cuffs. The angled dip bar allows me to stay vertical while stimulating the chosen and desired muscle groups more without discomfort from leaning.
This reinforces my thoughts on this,
Needed to hear it from someone who had used one.
Now I need to find one not over 400 bucks...
Manateeswimmer5678LOL oh man good luck bro. They actually helped me add mass to my arms. I'm 17.5in cold. That plus over head rope triceps man is game over!
I have used some Rogue ones that are in my gym, i think that it works better the side chest but i dont know why my elbows hurt (not like when you are doing an exercise wrong, is like a discomfort).
How’s it feel on your shoulders ?
Harsher, a guy on my gym that does calisthenics uses dips in that one as a finisher for a shoulder workout.
But in my opinion is harsher on elbows than on shoulders.
I just used body weight and untucked my elbows a bit so they stayed in line between the wrists and shoulders better. To make up for the lack of weight I did 4-5 second eccentrics for high reps and really focused on squeezing the chest like a fly and only using triceps for the upper range of motion. Surprisingly not painful with two torn labrums or rough on the elbows.
Ok thanks
