Adv and New tags
Ok so I have posted this twice now, once in the ideas area and here as well. I think it might actually get seen here a bit more so here is take 2.
Ok, so after a bit of thought and seeing a few people having posted pics on the EBC I have come to realise that perhaps there should be a few steps before being labeled as an ADV member on eroids. There are guys with the ADV tag that have honestly never even done a cycle, yet they are freely handing out advice to other members on the board. All they are doing is regurgitating info they have read on hear or elsewhere and passing it off as gosspel. You need actual experience to really know what you are talking about. Experience comes from doing what others are reading and thinking about.
I realise that the rep points goes to some degree of senioriry on this site however it should not be the main factor as to wheather or not the member is ADV or not. Perhaps a few extra categories could be put in place. Example after NEW perhaps Rookie then Intermediate then Advanced and then ultimately Expert. Now I realise that this may be quite hard to work out in the begining. But I feel this may be a better way to gauge who you are receiving advice from. As part of your sign up it could be mandatory to place pics of yourself in your profile with your training history and such. The level that you move to does not necisarily have to go in order from lowest to highest depending on the level of person that has recently joined the forum.
Imagine if someone from this site was telling say Dorian that he needs to read the rules of the forum and as such they Neg him 2 points and this comes from a person that weighs as much as his forearm used to. So thats my 0.02 worth.

tread-mSounds like a plan to me in many ways. Maybe just 3 or 4 categories, you can't really take the time needed to test everyone and prove personal experience but maybe rep points could be the guide to new tags in a range of seniority with some component of input involved. The sustem could be done as the ranking for sources where maybe 3 components were averaged in the software to give a person their status. For me often its not the most experience that is helpful but someone who is willing to read a lot and then come in and have conversation in threads that cause other good questions and overall learning. It is a little irritting as you say to see someone giving matter of fact advice as though they have done it and have not. I watched one newb in particular come on and went from being a Royal pain in the balls to a pretty helpful member and having very good information. I only called him out once by reminding those in the thread that he had never even ran a test cycle and he calmed down the information having claimed it was his own experience when it was not. As to spreading helpful information though, he has done a lot of homework and should be rewarded for sharing good proper information. He is one that should advance a bit just from all the knowledge he shares even though his experience is quite new. You make a great point though and done as I say, in the fashion sources are rated, maybe just averaging 3 components, I think a 3 or 4 tag system would work and be somewhat helpful. It is a lot of work for BFG though in a place that is already a lot of work to maintain. If not for the MODS he simply could not do it all. They fill a needed job so he can work his magic behind the scenes and magic it is brother. With all of its flaws it is still by far the best site ever designed for what it is we do and love to do!
Yeah that sounds like a plan. People just need to humble themselves and not try to look like they know everything. If you give bad advice on this site and someone who doesn't know any better follows it and stuffs themselves up, that not only brings heat on the site but also starts a bit of a negative effect flowing on from it. The Mods and BFG are doing a good job for sure, I have no idea the amony of work required to keep this site up and running. Thanks for the input.
AnonI agree with most of what you said with the exception of requiring photos (which can be faked) and the above.... I don't give a flying leap off a tall building if you are god.. If you can't read the rules then I am going to tell you and if I have to tell you more than once I am going to take points. It doesn't matter what I fucking look like. Even Dorian has to follow the rules.

I know the pics can be faked It is just a suggestion to try and weed out some of the so called experts that are passing on info that they only know due to reading a post or a book. I agree that Dorian is not a god. I probably should have made that point a bit clearer. As I said in Goths post about docking points off Mods. I think the only people that should be able to neg points should be the mods not anyone with 10 rep points that's all.

Hmmm. Well if you are mad enough to take tren and be a chick then you never know what will come next. But I do see why you got a bit testy. I know the rules are the rules. It just seems as late a few people with some rep points have been throwing around what they think is weight. When all it seems to me is a little power trip is all. How quickly we seem to forget that we all were newbies our selves. We should be helping not hindering those that are willing to learn. Well thats my view anyway.
Yeah drunk with power! keyboard warriors lol. Ill second that as well. Rep points are a load of crap! Fucked if i even notice them anymore. I tend to read individuals posts if i think they have knowledge and experience ill read more of their postings and it doesn't take long to work out whether they are the real deal or just some noob trying to come off as some expert. Still ill admit it can be tricky to take advice or learn from forums and just the net in general these days, its like sifting through piles of absolute bullshit to find that piece of quality information that is actually going to be of any use what so ever. So easy to be lead astray and make bad decisions and thats where self learning on the internet can be a much bigger task than learning from school etc. You really have to learn to make clear and good judgment on the info that you are getting and it just takes up more time, but in the end theres still a lot to be learnt, and the net and forums are my largest resource for doing so.
I'll second that. A few points under their belts and people are only to quick to do others down. Keyboard commando syndrome!
