The 1970s produced many exceptional air superiority and fighter airframes (f16, f-15, f18, f14-rip) the first three of which are still in production in evolved incarnations. I saw a documentary one time where an f15 lost 75% of one of its wings in combat and made it home. It's a pretty badass fighter.

It moves too fast and not good for ground support. A-10s are the infantryman's best friend. Just the sight of it is psychologically demoralizing to the enemy because it flies so close to the ground… like whole fuck, its cannon can crush a tank.
