There and Back Again, by StoneGolem22

ad

I had it all, and then I lost it. I'm here to share my experience as I find "it" again. Hopefully we can all learn from each other's experiences.

I've competed in bodybuilding, strongman, powerlifting, and highland games. I've worked as a personal trainer and strength coach, earned my degree in exercise science, and I've worked with or trained with some pretty big names. This included a dream job with a major fitness company that I won't name here. At my peak a few years ago, I had achieved 675/500/715 (raw) at 231 lbs naturally, with one big asterisk - In the middle of that, I returned from an army deployment starved to death and at 170 lbs. For 10 weeks I ran 500 mg test cyp and superdrol and was back right where I was, and that was my only firsthand experience with gear.

That's where I was before everything went to hell. A squatting accident stapled me to the floor several years ago; it nearly paralyzed me. I could barely walk, I was heavily medicated, and I became very depressed. Training had been my whole life for basically my whole life. I gained a LOT of weight (up to 330 lbs!). I was laid off from that dream job, got divorced, lost my home, and basically had to start over. I never realized how hard it can be to do what we all do if your head isn't in the game. I recently realized that I am basically circling the drain, and I need to change right now.

I've finally got the rest of my life figured out and have removed my head from my hindquarters. Priority number one is getting my bodyfat levels back down. As I am detrained, I won't be surprised to see improvements in lean mass and strength along the way, especially with the addition of anabolic assistance. Once I'm there and otherwise healthy, then we're going to pull the stops on this thing and really see what I can do.

This is the internet and people do enjoy puffing their numbers. As you can see you may have thought of an alternative career path instead of investing heavily into fitness all your life. All it takes is one accident and you are done. So whether or not you are full of shit or real the only lesson you should have learned is never put your eggs in one basket.

And also most of the guys i know who dont train anymore and were dedicated/pros/trainers due to injuries still look great and didnt gain 100 pounds of fat. Some parts of this are widely exaggerated and others not.

We all have a story .! No point in bashing, bad mouthing or even claiming hes not telling us the truth . If this is a platform for him to reach out tell his story amongst individuals that are in the same industry and share the same passion , let him do so . Give the man credit and give him the benefit of doubt. We all have our trials and tribulations.! It’s not about how many . But how we overcome them .! Good luck brotha looking forward in seeing some positive progress . I’m super new here as well and still learning the ropes .

I appreciate your words. I was taken aback at some of the responses here.

You went from 170 to 230 to 330lbs. I don't know how your body is even handling that. You got alot of wheight to drop before anabolics should even be brought in. Good luck to you though. Keep your head up and out of your ass. I lost everything due to my own choice that's a hard pill to swallow but I'm struggling forward despite how I feel bout myself. Actions speak volumes to others but most of all to ourselves.

Yeah, I really did a number on myself. As I said, I was/am spiraling the drain. After a series of unfortunate events, I basically retreated into a hole and went into hiding. The fitness industry was my entire world, but I can't jump back in there until I look the part. I don't want anyone I know to see me the way I am at the moment. I think the timeline is unclear in what I said, however. The 230 to 170 to 230 took place in 2009/2010. Gradually went up to around 255 by 2015, which is when I got hurt. Then from 2015-2019 I turned into a manatee.

Thank you for your words and your input.

I don't believe a word of this story other than to gain karma - those numbers are plucked from thin air for someone who has done '1 cycle' and started at 170lb's. Literally turned into Superman in those 10 weeks lol

StoneGolem22's picture

Those are real numbers. I didn't turn into superman...I returned to my previous condition.

I felt It was laid out alil thick also... Yeah he was 230, lost 60lbs over military deployment (red flag), then gained 60lbs back and apparently kept most of it. Bf% is left out in his stats for someone who is an A-list, educated, fitness guru. Wow. I'm feeling so judgmental, maybe it's time to check my estro!

Yeah I'm fat as fuck at the moment, sorry to disappoint.

Someone who claims that the Fitness industry was his 'entire world' would not allow to themselves to get into this kind of shape 'again' especially after the previous relapse....I know a BS merchant when I see one. You would at least be doing something to keep in some kind of shape not just 'nothing' for 4 years.

StoneGolem22's picture

I never said I was doing nothing. I was training, but not competing. I was going through the motions. And eating like shit. What previous relapse are you referring to? This is the first time I've been in this kind of shape, the shape being more round than I would like.

You don't know as much as you think. It's easy to dismiss others; I might have done the same at one point. Fitness was my entire world; it was everything I did. When I got hurt, I could barely walk for months. I spent most of the next 2-3 years laying down and going through a plethora of rehab, shots, and cocktails of painkillers. I couldn't sleep, and was in pain 24/7. I lost my job, my wife, and my home. When my entire life revolved around training and then I wasn't able to do it, I was extremely depressed. Toss in the personal problems and I became suicidal. When you're not sure you even want to be alive the next day, it's very difficult to think long term about why you shouldn't eat delicious food that will make you feel good right now.

But 4ish years later, I've gotten help. My pain levels are significantly improved, my depression is managed with medication, and I'm getting back on track. But I appreciate your kind words of support...oh wait.

Well if even half of this is true then I sincerely apologize, but there are a lot of things in this that seem very extreme. Fluctuating between 170 - 315lb's and a 500lb bench from out of nowhere are a bit too much for me to believe tbh. Time will tell if you stick around....

press1's picture

It was the 500lb bench & 715 deadlift that had me rolling on the floor in laughter after just one 10 week cycle Lol

IrishMack's picture

Hpw os that not believable? I see plenty of posts here where they say first tren cycle and gained 50 pound and added 100 to their bench and 200 to their dl.
Totally true. I'll respond more later. Its tough trying to type while I shoulder press 300 pounds with one arm after a week on a cut mix.

StoneGolem22's picture

Your problem is that you assume nothing can be accomplished without anabolics. If you don't know how to get results without gear, then you don't know what you're doing. My one little cycle was not responsible for my results and progress -- I did that simply to jump start my training and improve my recovery. In fact, those numbers were had 4-5 years after that cycle. I've got more than 20 years of hard training under my belt.

0newheelup's picture

That's not his problem. I believe that seems to be ur problem. Using anabolics irresponsibly can have serious health consequences. He was just busting ur balls and being honest. If u stick around and contribute to the site ull notice all the new members that come through with negative agendas. If everything u say is true we'll see that w time. So dont sweat it brother. Now back to u using anabolics while sporting some high body fat just to "jumpstart & recovery"!! Shame on u... U shld know better, being the guru u are, u shld know how to get that body fat down without anabolics.

StoneGolem22's picture

Yeah, that's his problem. It could also be mine - they aren't mutually exclusive, but the fact that I competed in bodybuilding and strength athletics for over a decade without gear in sports saturated by it should be enough to demonstrate that I know how to get results without it. But why are we all here? To go beyond what we are naturally capable of. My "Jumpstart & recovery" was referring to my 170-230 recomp, by the way, not my current recomp.

That said, you make a very good point. I absolutely can get that body fat down without assistance. That doesn't mean I want to. Despite the high body fat, my blood pressure, cholesterol/lipid levels, and blood glucose are all in healthy ranges. I intend to put a little bit of my foot on the gas as long as my metrics stay relatively safe. And I do mean only a little. That said, while my experience in training is extensive, my knowledge and experience with AAS and related products is mostly textbook: I've studied what I needed to do my job, but I realize I am a novice in this particular subject matter. That's why I'm here.

0newheelup's picture

Lol..Well ur in the right spot and ur skin is thick enough. Just remember that whatever u write will be read by someone w less experience. We dont want kids reading that anabolics is a magic pill for body fat or jump starting wore out engines.. glad to have u here, I'm sure ull have plenty to share.

If I remember correctly, I was still a little light right at the 10 week mark, at about 220, so about 50 lbs. I picked up the rest over the next couple of weeks. It's still very rapid progress, but my weight has always moved easily, especially after being depleted.
