Newbie looking for advice

Newbie looking for advice.

Time to introduce myself to the forum, here’s a little about myself: I’m 47, I work as an engineer, I’ve got a family and a home in northern New Hampshire.

I’ve been working out pretty consistently for about 10 years, but now I have never worked intensely enough to make serious gains. I’m currently on Dr. prescribed testosterone 200 mg every two weeks. I split it up into 50 milligrams every 2.5 days.

What I’m thinking about doing is increasing my dose to 250 mg per week for 8 to 12 weeks then going back to my standard doctor prescribed dose.

My main goal initially is to get more lean lose body fat and gain some muscle. After this cycle I’d like to try something a little more aggressive depending on how this works. Hope I can get a little help and advice for this. By the way the site is kind of unbelievable. So much information to consume.

Thanks everyone.

If you are going to increase your Testosterone dose, be sure to reduce early enough for any impending blood tests. Test high and watch your script go bye bye.

Thanks Rustyhooker, are there any useful posts about Primo cycles?

Rusty is correct about the prostate getting pissed off on dht derivatives. At 47, be mindful of that. But i use primo and mast often, they are subtle cutter/finisher compounds. If your lean they shine, but growth is limited.

Awesome, will try!

Great read, I can incorporate the low intensity aerobic activity right away.

Halsey's picture

He is talking anaerobic, which is typically 90% your max heart rate. This type of exercise is absolutely gut wrenching. Imo, the average person can't maintain this type of exercise for very long. Also, if your not in the best physical cardio pulmonary condition, use caution.

Im pretty sure you are using anaerobic and aerobic backwards.

Ok, maybe I miss read it but I thought he was talking about oxidizing fat:

“The average conditioning intensity for developing the aerobic phase in healthy adults is 60-70% of their functional capacity, referred to as maximum HR (max HR = 220-age). For me, that range is between 113-134 BPM. Staying within this percentage will ensure that oxygen uptake is optimized for the oxidation of fatty acids.

It is generally recommended that this mode of aerobic work be sustained for at least 40-45 minutes per session. A larger percentage of energy during this type of activity comes from mobilized fat. The long duration of this activity allows fatty acids to perfuse even more extensively into the smallest of capillary beds feeding the working muscles, thus optimizing fat loss and oxidation. It is important to note that the muscles’ cellular furnaces, called mitochondria, become more efficient at burning fatty acids for ATP as the duration continues.”

What do you recommend?

Im really not sure i understand what he is talking about with that article and anaerobic exercise. Im with you, that article is referring more to low intensity cardio post workout for burning fat. Which seems to fit what your looking for, ie to lean down.

Im not your average guy, lol. More of a endurance athlete vs a body builder. Both are important for different reasons. Too much cardio will eat muscle, but it is also extremely important for heart and general health. Anaerobic exercise, for short durations is a muscle builder for sure. But for longer durations it will take everything from you.

Totally agree, I’ve used anaerobic work to increase muscle mass…. Looking to Lean down so I’m going to give this a shot.

I added you to the beginners group so browse through some of that info and see if you have any questions.

Ha ha, thanks for the welcome! The bad news is winter is already started!

Good to meet you, like Makwa asked how long on trt? Also, where does 100mg of test a week put your test numbers? If your numbers are decent and your feeling good, you might want to ride this trt dose out for a year or so until you hit a plateau. Tightening up your diet will help with leaning out. Gaining muscle while losing fat is a bit trickier, lol. I'd concentrate on shedding the fat first.

The trick is, in my opinion, is to only use enough gear to keep you moving once you hit a wall.

Big-red1's picture

About 10 years on TRT.

I believe the last time I was checked was around 600.

Pre TRT was under 200.

If you are pretty high in bodyfat I would drop that down first before running a cycle. You will have a much more productive cycle and less chance for side effects.

Big-red1's picture

I have read that a couple of times and am trying to understand. What are the reasons for not running a cycle at the higher BF? Also, would the higher Test level help with fat loss.
I've been running the same TRT since 2012, and I'm curious to experiment with different levels.

Makwa's picture

Pretty good read here on why you should get as low a BF as possible before starting a cycle.

https://www.eroids.com/forums/general/general-talk/scientific-proof-lowe...

Higher test level isn't going to help with accelerated fat loss to any appreciable degree. The test is there to spare muscle tissue so you don't lose it during your cut,. Diet is what will determine how much and how fast you drop fat and the test will help to keep your muscle so it doesn't get burned up during dieting since you will be in a calorie deficit. Once you get into the more extreme dieting protocols with already low bodyfat is when you need to look at bumping up test to help prevent catabolism. Until that point it isn't necessary. So save it for when it can be useful.

Higher levels of bf cause more armotising. Which can cause more e2 problems.

How long have you been on TRT for?
