What do you do, when your Doc says your test levels are "Normal"

ad

So I've been feeling a little unmotivated for a while. Some days I'll feel like working, doing things around the house etc, other days I just sit on my phone on facebook or I jump on the laptop and read shit, go on ebay and other selling sites and look at shit I don't need... Completely wasting time.

I decided I'd get my test levels checked to make sure my body is running fine and it's just my brain that's being a dick to me. I've experienced lack of motivation and depression before due to taking epistane and shutting down the old HPTA. I was put onto epistane by my brother, he said it'd help get rid of my bitch tits. I didn't research it and seems like neither did he.

My testosterone came back at 9.7 (nmol/L ?), my doctor pointed out the normal range is between 4 and 27 or 37; I can't recall. He said my test levels are normal.
I tried reasoning with him and explaining that within the "normal" range isn't normal for a healthy 26 year old.

He is also optimistic that there are no studies to show that increasing ones testosterone can increase their motivation or happiness.

Eroids... What do you do when your doc tells you that your test levels are within the "normal" range?

Squirrel's picture

I would first, get a new doctor if your doc doesn't see to want to work with you, then list symptoms of low testosterone like you are oblivious to it, then say you did so,e research and either A "looks like some low t, but do you really think that could be effecting me (you naive bastard), or B tell doc look, " i have all the symptoms of low t, i fall in the bottom end of the range which by my opinion is low for a 26yr old. Can you please help me feel some quality of life again?"

mommas boy's picture

Get off the computer, its addictive and forces you to be sedentary.

JSR3412's picture

I had to deal with this as well before being put on testosterone replacement therapy. I've struggled with depression my whole life and tried to overdose only to wake up disappointed, I've dropped a toaster in the bathtub only to find out my apt has a safety switch in the power outlet, and I've injected air into my veins only to have it give me a bad cough and chest pain. It wasn't until I found a urologist who treated me regardless of my levels being in the "normal" range. No 27 year old should be at 360ng/dL when the minimum is 350ng/dL and has done everything in the book to raise his levels naturally. Just keep looking for a doctor who cares and understands and don't give up! Now, is my depression better now that I'm on testosterone?? No, it's not. I got a job when my mom kicked me out of the house and I got tired of sleeping in the bushes.

Squirrel's picture

fuck, please reassess your mental state before taking aas as things like coming off will make them worse. be safe.

cajunfire's picture

Low T is just as equivalent to low estrogen, your brother is dead wrong.low The will cause , no sleep, depression, lack of drive, the list goes on and on, keep listening to your brother and see what happens

To all; thanks for the love and support.
I'm sorry your parents didn't appreciate you and forced you all out at 15 or 16. As mentioned below, I live in a different age and I also come from a family where my mother is loving and nurturing, I do apologise if that's painful for some of you to hear.

Fact of the matter is that I'm not in a financial situation that would allow living on my own and I'm not going to put myself on the streets. Because I'm not a dumb fuck and I think a bit more responsibly.

In all seriousness, your input has been taken on board despite all the insults, moving out was a plan I had for early to mid 2017 when it's financially possible.

vhman's picture

Because I'm not a dumb fuck and I think a bit more responsibly

You're responsible because you still live with mommy!?! Wow!
Ever heard of taking responsibility for your own life? How about a job? Education? Countless people do these things in their own. They're called ADULTS.

PrayingForGrowth's picture

You took it out of context, as I said, moving out is not financially possible at the moment.
Did you consider that maybe things like this might be difficult for me, maybe due to the lack of testosterone in my system?

That's what this whole thread was about. The fact that I can't find it within myself to get motivated.

Greg's picture

When I say stop, I mean stop.

vhman's picture

Look chief. We are only responsible for ourselves. Lacking motivation? You need to deal with that in an adult manner. Get tested and work with a doctor. If you don't like what he says, find another one. I dealt with low t for over a decade and I still got things done, but that's me. I went to a doctor and got on trt and it was helpful, but not a cure all. My life didn't change much, because I Already had it in order. I did feel better overall though.
Regardless, this is in your hands and I do wish you luck.

Greg's picture

This is not directed at you but let's end this. Fun is fun but after a point it becomes mean... We've reached that point.

IrishMack's picture

My mother was very caring and nurturing, its why I left at an early age. I was a mommas boy but lucky for me I grew up in an era that you were given an ass whooping and not a medal for being that way. If I waited until I could financially afford to be on my own I would still be with my mommy now. You want to get back any lost testosterone moving out and cutting the umbilical cord is a start. Once you have to pay bills, work a fulltime job, and start wooing females you will get your motivation back. when me and my brother would go to bars and girls we wanted nothing to do with wouldn't leave us alone we would tell them we still lived at home, the easiest way to watch them walk away.

PrayingForGrowth's picture

People are all individual and I guess I didn't grow up thinking your way.
I never had the urge to leave home, possibly due to the fact it was too easy for me living at home and I feared the real world.

Moving out is on the agenda for this year, which I'll be doing with my girlfriend. I've worked full time and paid bills and woo'ed females. I catch your drift though.

Love the 'cutting the umbilical cord' analogy.

Appreciate the advice - from all of you, despite the fact you all tore me a new one.

You're going to keep Praying For Growth as long as you live with mom bro........ Hence your user name

26 and still at home, I hope your mom isn't sick or anything like that......

Engineereddisaster's picture

I just read through the comments and I'm pretty sure that I have an all natural solution to the reason you feel shitty with no drive and low test.
As you mentioned below that your "mum" buys pre-packaged sausages and makes meals etc... this is where your problem lies.
BRO YOU ARE 26 AND YOU STILL LIVE WITH YOUR MUM!
That's the problem!
You gotta get your shit together and start facing life and being a man! You don't need a magic injection to give you some balls, you just need to use the balls that you have!
Challenge yourself! Do something like join the Military. The only time you should be getting food from Mum is on an effing holiday!
26 years old bro! Unlatch your dainty lips from her poor, tired, worn out titties and get off your ass and do the man thing!
No man in the world will have high test living with his mummy.
You gotta get your shit together and move out today. I don't give a shit if you don't have a place to go. Holy shit.
Come on bro, you are 26 years old. I know guys with Down's Syndrome who are living on their own at 26. WTF!

Hope that helps.

All my love, no homo
Ed

High cortisol =low testosterone.

Low testosterone= lack of motivation,depression

Good luck buddy

I'm hoping this might actually be on the blood test results. I will call the doctor tomorrow to see if he can email me the results so I can take a look.

I'm sure he would have mentioned if my cortisol was high?
Unless this isn't part of the blood test he did.

I'm from Australia and we can only access a small amount of tests at one time through our GP through our healthcare system - it may be different assuming you're from the US or Europe/UK.

TheFlash85's picture

Pffft. Being australian is no excuse pussy. Im australian i get what i want when i want. Go get some daa and vitamins and start eating well plenty out there to raise natural test. Excuses excuses, smh.

When I feel like that I keep my total calories at maintenance but eat more high cholesterol foods bacon, lots of eggs with yolks, fattier cuts of meat like chicken leg quarters with the skin on and hamburger at 20% fat, whole milk. I also as a general rule avoid any processed carbs unless I'm bulking. Tribulus and vitamin d3 around 5000iu daily and concentrating on heavy multi joint lifts deads, squats, cleans, etc also lots of sex and cialis helps too;)

PrayingForGrowth's picture

I'm finding difficulty in getting lots of sex :(
I've started on the 5000 IU D3 - just had some come in. Do you find tribulus actually works?
I take ZMA at night and will also be looking into taking DAA as I've heard and read rather good things about it. What's your thoughts on the two?

I eat quite a lot of eggs and I eat fatty meats, but I'm not sure as to how much is enough to increase test levels?

Greg's picture

I'm finding difficulty in getting lots of sex

That has nothing to do with your testosterone levels. It has everything to do with living at home with mom.

shawn0712's picture

It's pretty much been covered below, but the best thing to do is force the pendulum to swing. Gain inertia and moving will become easier.
Look at any way you can naturally boost your levels back up. Being a slave to the pin truly sucks. It's not as simple as just sticking yourself once a week. There's a lot we still don't understand. After awhile, trt feels almost ineffective. Levels are good, but sex drive isn't what it once was. You have to constantly monitor your blood and not damage your heart. It's not a self prescribed path. Not if you plan on longevity anyway.
Look up everything you can do naturally. If nothing changes and you feel you shut yourself down, look at a mild pct reboot. Don't just guess though. Plan on checking your levels every 3 months and see what's making a difference. Physical activity and whole foods will almost definitely spike you back up to a comfortable level.
And avoid alcohol. Especially ipa's. They'll enlarge a mangina. ( j/k But there's some debate that the high hop content causes increased estrogen conversion )

PrayingForGrowth's picture

Really wish I could give you some karma for this, it's a real eye opener.
Are you speaking from experience regarding TRT? I'd hate to start TRT then find in time it becomes ineffective. Sorry to hear if this is the case with you and many others.

I've been taking ZMA for a couple months and have also started taking more zinc during the day and some D3. I just received 5000 IU D3 and will start on this tomorrow and see how I improve.

Could you elaborate on the mild PCT reboot for me? Or direct me to a link/forum post with more info.

Livelife76's picture

Best to get a second opinion, I would exhaust all options before jumping on trt if that's what you're leaning on doing man... Get a second opinion and go from there... Epistane to help with Gyno? Yup your brother didn't research lol that's good ol bro science my man .

PrayingForGrowth's picture

He fucked me more than anything, I've never felt so shit in my life. Coming off epistane was the worst experience I've ever had.

TRT is not something I want to do. I'm 26 and don't want to start pinning now for the rest of my life.
I got the tests done to see where I'm at hormonally and whether it's reason behind the way I'm feeling.

PrayingForGrowth's picture

I'm not saying I want to hit the gear or start TRT. I want to know if my hormones are reason behind me feeling this way.

I'd like to think I eat quite well Rusty, I don't drink alcohol much, that is, I would drink on a special occasion and these occasions are quite rare, maybe once every 2-3 months? As for food my mum might buy pre-packaged sausages, beef burger patties and rice cakes, that's as far as I'd go as eating 'premade' crap. The rest is quite healthy. I eat vegies with every meal except breakfast as that usually contains eggs with rice cakes or salmon. I'm snacking on nuts every second day and smashing blueberries every day.

I train hard on the daily, but its more weight training. In my mind I know I should be doing cardio but I'm just never keen to throw it into the weekly program.

Do you really think cardio will increase my mood? Why wouldn't weight training do this?
Would really like to know more about this, thanks mate.

PrayingForGrowth's picture

I'll try more cardio and see how I go. Cheers

dude, in all honestly i wish i didnt live 700 miles from my parents so i could stop by everyday and have my mom cook for me. I love going home for the holidays shes the best cook, knows exactly what i like, anytime i want something the kitchens opem. Hell i wish i still lived at home even, then i could just save all my money and no spend it on this mortgage, insurance, taxes, utilites, food. Just my car payment, gear, gas and thats pretty much it. That sounds like the life. Soon as shes ready she can move in with me lol. I would be 20lbs heavier if i lived at home and had her there to cook me a variety of quality meals all the time. not this nasty tilapia, chicken breast eggs and steak i cook for myself everyday. Getting really sick of this shit lol. Going straight from college to on my own sucks, all my friends who graduated and moved back in with their rents for a few years just saved saved saved and stacked up 10s of thousands of dollars so when they finally did move out they had fat bank accounts. i was still brining my laundry home until i was like 23 and i still would i wasnt married and my wife didnt do it. My sis still does when she comes home and shes like 24. One of my few regrets. But everytime im home im usually ready to leave after about a week haha. Pros and cons to both situations.

guitarplayer1's picture

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger brother. Ya moms cooking is great and you could save a couple of bucks but your a man now and have all the issues a grown adult will have. I moved out when I was 15 and went to school, payed rent, car insurance yady yady ya. My own rules and with nobody to wipe my ass.

Let your parents enjoy there life now without having to take care of others, it's time to take care of them.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Theres a lot of truth to that right there. I was out of the house at fifteen too. Unfortunately I got into drugs and ended up in and out of jail. Then I got my girl pregnant and didn't want my kid to grow up seeing their dad as a druggie. Been on the straight and narrow since. That was 17 years ago. Fuck time flies

guitarplayer1's picture

You learned then what some are still trying to at an older age. Ever seen the mid 40s drug addict that lives at home putting family through hell? That shit would never fly at my household at any age.

You got that right. I wish the guy I'm now could've had a few words with the guy I was back then. But the person I am is mainly because of how big of a fuck up I was. Can't have one with out the other.

IrishMack's picture

You got me by a year, everything I had or have was through my own suffering, downfalls, and ups. My parents brought me in this world and felt that was good enough. Made me a better man today. I do sometimes wonder what it would have been like if my parents paid for my college, I stayed home until I was in my 30's or longer......then I read posts here from all the kids who have more estrogen and self esteem issues then an 11 year old girl that just started wearing a bra and Im glad I manned the fuck up early. At my worst I perform at my best because of it.

guitarplayer1's picture

You got your PRIDE! That alone trumps money a degree and most things in life. I'm sure you're are stronger mentally because you faced the reality of how to live in this world without your aging parents holding your hand through it all.

Lets face it we're from a different era than these boys.
