I think this post is just insensitive to those fellas who just want to fit into their skinny jeans.
broke my back in two places a few years ago. i still squat at least once a week usually twice a week i have great legs but i dont squat all that much weight wise but skipping legs is a serious problem in every gym i think lol. my pesonal best is only 400 lbs for 1 rep @ 185 lbs bodyweight and i now stand 5 11 after losing an inch in height from my back injury... hey at least my cock didnt lose an inch lol! im still natty but thats going to change this fall i cant wait to smash all my pr's ! this is one of the squat routines i have done in the past please check out my post @ . http://www.eroids.com/forum/training-nutrition-diet/workout-exercise/gro...
imsom12Ya losing an inch on cock would fuckin suck lol .
imsom12See now. Thats kik ass guys with serious injuries still rockin out legs keep up the work!
I had a severe knee injury a couple of years ago. My knee will never be right. That being said, I've consistently worked my legs. I've had to be very careful and listen to my body closely, but I've made some good progress; progress I didn't think I could make. It's been slow and I can't and won't be able to lift the weight I use to, but my legs look good and proportionate.
I guess my point is that if I can do it, then any able body person or those with issues can and should put the effort in.
I never skip legs, it's not even a consideration. I always wear shorts so I'd look ridiculous like the pics below. And you can tell if someone doesn't, joggers don't hide for you cos they hang off people, and they've no ass. No homo.
Being tall and lean mine aren't ever going to be big but I'd hate to see what they'd look like if they went untrained.
Likewise Im usually at the gym at the same time of the day and see a lot of people doing everything but legs, it's like gym crime to me.
I got love for all the girls out their who bust ass doing squats, leg press etc!! You shame some of the fellas out their, may it happily continue lol
Many of the young guys in their 20's just will not work to load up the bar these days. 315 yeah, 365 maybe, but that's it. So, some of them look exactly the way u describe. The older guys like me still squat heavy. At 455, I start wrapping my knees nowadays, but it ain't like nobody is waiting for the cage so I can take my sweet time. It's really too bad, the young ones don't have the back strength to even support a 405 lb barbell or the core strength either. I think the squat is one of the most difficult exercises there is, but like u say your whole body grows from it. For me it's an aerobic workout as well, my heart is pounding so hard and I am gasping for air - makes the elliptical trainer feel like a joke in comparison.
and that right there is gospel brother Gear. I mean I have pretty thick, strong legs and I can still get a great working set with 365, deep strict and precise form. I laugh at the notion when I see these young men with that weight or 405lbs doing half or 3 to 4 reps, and when asked are you power training nah man I'm bodybuilding lol..
Well, at least the guys at your gym can walk 405 lbs back off the catches without crumbling to the floor. After all you do have the whole bar weight on each foot as you walk back. Most of the guys in my place I don't think could even do that. They just don't want to do the work. I set the pins in the cage about 6-8" below parallel so I know exactly that I'm going deep enough. I'm gonna be 37 next month - I squat in the power cage for safety's sake and I can go real heavy and I got nothin to worry about. At my age anything could happen - back spasm, quad cramp, charley horse - u name it. I've dumped a real heavy bar before - CRASH !! The safety pins didn't mind. On the other end of the spectrum - have u ever seen a young man in an open squat rack with say 315 squatting below parallel and it looks like he's using his knees like springs? Yikes !
I admit to not training legs for a long time. After I had back surgery from doing deads I was scared as hell. This cycle is the first time in years I really focused on legs. I made up my mind to quit being a chicken shit and just do them. If you ever seen any of my pics you can zoom in and see the top half of the scar. 18 staples worth lol. I'm still lagging on the legs but I'm to the point where I feel comfortable under the bar again. I'd be lying if I said I'm not scared anymore......
Yikes !!
What happened bro? I just did deads this afternoon and I ain't no spring chicken any more but I'm always looking to add more weight. If you're willing to talk about it we can chat via PM - I just might learn something from your experience that could save my ass . . . sorry for being selfish. I'm glad u r able to squat again !
Complacency that's what happened. I got complacent and was goofing around with the boys not paying attention to form. That basically what it boils down to. It wasn't a weight that I couldn't do relatively easy. I picked it up and it was too far away from me in the first place. When I picked it up I rolled my back. At first it felt like a warm glass of water was poured down my leg. Within minutes I was in so much pain I couldn't walk.'now I use strict form while lifting every time. Even on warm up sets.......
Yeah, butt down drive with your legs. My shins are black and blue and sometime it'll scrape and draw a little blood. War wounds! If I tried to lift a heavy bar off the ground leading the lift with my back, I might not ever make it back. God bless that you did bro.

Yeah I'm very fortunate. I also had a good doctor...... The mental aspect was the hardest to come back from. I'm just happy to be doing the lifts again. I may never care about how much I'm lifting as long as I'm pushing myself!
just hammered them today, and let me tell ya fellas, in the midst of reping out 405, I threw a protein fart so loud it rattled the squat rack. ooh yeah it was mid day packed as well. now most of the bros in there know me well enough to call me a sick bastard, and laugh, except these 2 pretty little collage age girls and one of there boyfriends. all I could say was if this never happened to you either you're lying or just not working hard enough. how'd they like me now!
imsom12Bahaha dude thats funny u say that becase after I do squats I move to leg press and there was a guy on the hammer machine right next to me and on my 2nd rep booooom the smell was instant he say holy fuck dude bahaha ya man it really never fails on legs 90% of the time ur gunna bust one out lol especially lifting heavy. To me anything over 400 is pretty dam heavy well for me it is my max on squats is on 460 but workin on it I want tree trunks for legs!
imsom12Bahaha love the pics
I see it daily. Some are so bad I want to tell them.
I would say roughly 90% of guys at every gym i ever trained at skip legs. I go at the same time everday and see the same people and not once have I seen them do legs. But whatever man let them do what they want I could care less.
Cracks me up why anyone would confidently wear shorts knowing full calves look just the same as the day you were born lol
I must admit i have a weak left one now due to nerve damage but it dont look like that tooth pick :/
That's just fantastic! FYI: I'm stealing that one Vike (with your permission of course)....
LMAO it's because their soft viking... that old motto no pain no gain does not apply to them! I think that plays into the reason they wear shorts.. its too hot LMFAO
Is that guy at the bottom real? My 7 year old has better calves.
Training legs hurts too much for most guys so they find excuses. Women on the other hand somehow manage it. Says a lot about the big tough guys eh? Nobody will train legs with me these days.
ill do a leg rape session with you bro:)
I'm in!
LOL so true bro!! Yes it's real.. this is the poster boy for no leg day... type in skip leg day or something like that into google and this is the gym you see repeatedly LMAO... I admit my first three months I skipped the squat rack.. I did leg press, hammy curls etc.. now I squat twice a week! I love it dude!
Reality is you look like a complete tit if you don't develop your legs. Love it or hate it, get it done. I'm weird, I like training legs.
Lol I think the bottom one is photoshopped it looks so fake
I hope so for or his sake. Boy needs to spend 5 years on his legs otherwise!
At this point it might be easier for him to walk on his hands and just forget bout those legs(there so pathetic I hate even labeling them legs )
imsom12Ya dude my 14 year old son dont even lift and his are bigger im sure
