To aspirate or not to aspirate?
ad
Recently I pin and forgot to aspirate, I spoke to a couple gym vets and some mention that they have never aspirate. So I started to wonder how many of us actually do it. I understand the reason behind aspirating, but as most know after pinning a bit that your body will let you know when you hit/cut a nerve. Not to mention the addtional scaring one does when aspirating.

Twenty-three old sister is an RN and was taught to aspirate and does so.
Why exactly is it old practice? Is it because injecting a vein isn't as dangerous as people make it out to be or does aspirating hurt the muscle in some way?
Also what locations do you aspirate for?
I tend to do it on spot pins but it depends on how it feels on the way in
Infection???????? You mean injection*******???????
Yeah I call it infecting same difference I'll edit for the thread sorry about that guys
I've been in a vein six times in four years. I sure as hell will continue to aspirate.
I hit a vein in my thigh but I knew right away. For me the hardest place to asperate would be the glute which is already hard enough to do. Pez where did you hit the vein? My least place to hit are my delts just because it's the only place where blood drips out
Four were in my glutes and two in my delts.
I wouldn't rely on feel for this. I know what you're talking about knowing when you do, but when death is on the table I will aspirate.
I never asperate.
That's just me never got an infection.
I don't asperate the glute and thigh I still asperate delts
Aspirating glutes and thighs is so easy for me though. How do you aspirate delts? Just push with thumb using one hand?
Yeah I clip plunger with my index and center finger using thumb as support on syringe but my delt gets swore from the movement of the needle. My favorite would have to be thighs. As for glute still haven't found a comfortable method where I could relax the muscle
I hold it in place with my thumb, and pull up with my index and middle finger.
2nd that :-)
