+ 5 THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF BODYBUILDING EQUIPMENT
It's not in your gym.....it's in your kitchen----or at least it should be.
If you don't have a Super-Blender, such as a Vitamix, or something similar, you're making life very hard for yourself when it comes to getting enough fuel to your muscles.....especially if your on cycle.
Viking recently posted an article on the importance of food, and how it can affect your gains. I'll take his assertion one step further and say that if you aren't getting at least 300 grams of protein per day, you have absolutely no business posting a bad review on any mass-producing compound such as Test, Deca or Tren. The tools won't work if they aren't plugged in.
Get yourself a super-blender (I use a Vitamix) and watch your gains skyrocket when you truly have sufficient protein intake. The Vitamix makes it easy, because it's capable of blending anything into liquid, which means you can make actual meals out of your shakes.
Here's my standard meal/shake:
10 ounces of fat-free milk
handful of bluberries
handful of strawberries
a big blob of almond butter
40 grams of Optimum's Whey protien
handful of spinach leaves.
5-6 of these a day along with some meat and veggies here and there and you're golden. This shake is super-anti-oxidant-anti-aging SHIT, and is great for post workout as well with some oats thrown in.
You guys probably all have a favorite shake of your own-----fess up.

CleyonI saw someone with one of those bags at the Ronnie Coleman Classic, and have been looking for one ever since! Thanks for the link, looks like I know what the wife is getting me for Father's Day!
Last week discovered rhubarb and ground flax seed added makes them taste like pie.
I was skeptical about spinach at first.
nice i had like 4 of those this week....well without the almond butter..
this is to take with you? it has places for freezer packs?
leeboyMost important piece of bodybuilding equipment is the needle and syringe lol ;)
My Breakfast for a long time was
1 cup steel cut oats
1 scoop chocolate whey
1 cup liquid egg whites
2tbsp organic peanut butter
6g figer powder
My post workout shake that tastes like smoothie king and is delicious!!
1 large banana
1 cup frozen strawberries
2 scoops iso-100 berry
6g fiber
5g creatine
1tbsp splenda
OKAY BRO!!! Hit the nail on the head with this one!! LOVE IT! That's exactly what I do a couple times a day...make concoctions(sp?) similar to yours. Here's one that I like to do at around 8pm, usually in bed at 10:30.
1/2c cottage cheese
1/2c egg whites
1/2c milk or water(preference your choice)
1 20g scoop of whey protein or whey/casein blend powder(I like a cookies n'cream)
2 Tbsp. peanut butter
It can be anywhere from 55-60g protein depending on if add milk or water.
Right before I brush my teeth and hit the sheets(around 10:30pm), I ALWAYS take in another 40+g casein as well. This is just a lil' something before all that. The peanut butter COMPLETELY covers up the taste of the cottage cheese, and mixing it with cookies n'cream makes it taste like a peanut butter cookie!! BANGING!!
That shake sounds good I gotta try it. I am a huge fan of amino acids and I add a scoop of broad spectrum aminos to all my shakes. Alot of shakes have aminos in them but I find addding a quality amino mix to the shake just helps me grow and the pumps in the gym are way better then if I took the shakes with out them.
AS far as Blending food i may be having dental surgury this wed and have already deciced i will blend and drink my meals if need be..... with a couple splendas of course lol lmao! Gonna suck ass!
Anonhell yea i got 2 of them and use it everyday 2 or 3 times
tread-mNICE STUFF BIG CUZ, I try to eat a little more food and less shakes but life is not easy so I won't hesitate to shake the F up if thats what it takes to bust 400. I like your incorporations in the shake all good stuff. Blueberries are the mocus and probably the best antioxidant on the planet given the extra benefit over others. I like them in yogurt, in grain cereal, on ass even if they roll down to the next stop knjow what I mean. Its like you can't taint a blueberry, try it..let it roll south and cure a while then go for it, you'll be surprised at the pop it still has and I know you're thinking "aftertaste"...nope, as fresh as fresh as the others up top I promise. litttle whip creme on cheat days and your golden.
I remember reading that goji berries have like WAY more antioxidants. But I think blue berriers were #2 on the list...but I make shakes with milk, banana, blueberries, goji berries, spinach, chobani plain, chia seeds, flax seeds, wheat grass juice, and ofcourse I mix it up and sometimes use strawberries, mangoes, dragonfruit,etc....and protein ofcourse. And I just eyeball everything.
testaholicOf the dingle variety.
good stuff...i def have to up grade my blender
I like ISOPURE mixed with water and Planters Natural Peanut butter
Anonmuscle milk, wit vit d milk peanut butter , bannanas....goooood stufff
Anonmuscle milk is some of the lowest quality protein on the market bro lol.... off topic but sorry had to say it. Invest in a quality whey ISOLATE and never look back...
dbolzDoesn't that equate to around 10-12 scoops of protein powder ed? To get 40grams of ON protein you need 2*25g scoops, and doing that 5-6 times a day you need 10-12 scoops. I am not bashing your shake at all if anything it must be a lovely shake, its just there is a lot controversy in this place when it comes to consuming protein powder. V for example suggests no more than 4 scoops a day. I drink around 6 scoops a day and when i suggested it to someone else people thought it was overkill. 10-12 Scoops is a bit controversial esp when it comes to possible kidney damage. I think people should look in consuming 300-400g protein a day from solid food rather than taking most of that protein from powder.
jasonhits more protein than that got 2 count the yogart, milk, and peanut butter. i do agree that going over 4 scoops is overkill i never go over 2 shakes a day and try to get rest of what i need from whole food meals
Agreed. Makes sense too. Whey is meant to be instantly absorbed. After work out =good idea. For meal replacement=bad idea (exception is if there is really no other choice but to go hungry.) Whole food is best. If doing shakes USE EGG WHITES !! No fat ,low cal nutritous, delicous!
Anonegg whites alone are a bad idea... when you take out the egg yolk you are losing the biotin and choline. additionally, the egg yolk blocks the albumin in the egg white which PREVENTS you from absorbing the protein should you take ONLY egg whites.
That's interesting...never heard this before considering the PUSH egg whites get in all the circles as being the best lean muscle builder. So you're saying JUST egg whites and nothing else?...I wouldn't do that anyway, but I guess if you're taking in other food with them, it would be g2g?...as far as absorbtion goes?
also grrl i normally add oats.. not just egg whites alone
The only time i would ever dothis is in the middle of the night. btw i used pasturized egg whites...no yoke ;)I'd never recomend using eggs as a main protein source.... nor would I whey!!!!
Yea I wanna see the person who is getting 70-90% of their 2g/lb of protein from actual food. I get at least 250g's from shakes. I make 120g shakes at a time. I love the shakers with the metal spring like ball in it (genius). I drink 2 gallons of water and a huge serving of either asparagus or spinach leaves and my blood work looks good, and that's on 700mg/wk (at least) of tren ace. I mean I have to consume 500g of protein a day, w/o shakes I would be constantly in the kitchen or a restaurant, It's just not practical. And really were injecting a gram of testosterone a week but were gonna piss our pants at the thought of drinking too much protein powder, I'm all about staying healthy but man the F up (not directed at anyone just thinking out loud, so please no one be offended).
im hitting 350+ solid food;)
Bravo, your a better man than I :). That or you have a wife whose a chef......
It's doable...
You can get 28g protein in 1 cup of cottage cheese.
You can get 39g protein from 1 cup of chicken hearts
You can get 34g protein from 3 chicken livers
You can get 21g protein from 1 slice of beef liver
...high protein for relatively small portions, the 122g of protein listed above
can easily be eaten in one sitting.
The problem with liquid protein, like what you get with a shake, is that it can pass too quickly through your digestive system before it can be fully digested.
Well I'm pretty open-minded but eating hearts and liver on a daily basis, idk. I do often have meals containing that much protein. Two,or three times a day even. However sometimes life happens and there's not food in the fridge, or I leave at 6 am and don't get home until 11pm. Although often the Golden Corral's of the world will have grilled fish, grilled chicken, cottage cheese and you can get well over 100 in a sitting for relatively cheap. If anyone can consistently get all or a vast majority of their protein from food more power to you. But after making personal goals/commitments. Joining a club store and everything else, I just am not able to do it with my lifestyle. So despite the controversy I use various types ( whey, casein, soy) of liquid protein for 250-300g of protein a day. I drink a lot of water and eat a lot of dark greens and I haven't had any issues but great results. But that is my humble opinion/experience.
dbolzDont get me wrong i got the same views about protein shakes they are my main source of protein, it is just a bit controversial with what others suggest. You mean 120g protein in one shake? Or 120g along with the carbs and fats? Thing is with your kidneys you wont know unless you do urinalysis not blood work. From what i know at least blood work wont show how much protein you got in your urine or how much protein you are excreting from your kidneys. Only urinalysis will show that. I agree its not practical at all my girlie cooks 3-4 times a day and i cant really ask any more than that. In order to get 400g of protein a day from food she would have to live in the kitchen literally. I got the shame shakers those metal rings rule you can mix anything with them. My protein intake is far less than 500g but i had issues with proteinuria in the past so i am cautious with taking too much protein. 300g per days is all i need for my size and peace of mind.
When your kidneys are in distress for any reason you will have higher levels of certain chemicals in your blood like creatinine (not creatine). So Dr. Will look at things lik BUN creatinine level and GFR to check for proper kidney function. If these are off they will probably start checking you urine for the why. Yes, 120g of protein but I look @ it like a 3 serving shake that I'll take with me on the go.
300 seems to be a sweet spot for me as well.
I get to the point where the thought of chicken makes me wanna puke----lol
In fact, I was watching cartoons this morning and saw Froghorn Leghorn, and hurled all over the coffee table.
Anonhahahahaha its foghorn leghorn lol
tread-mNo he watches the aquatic politically correct version, that one you mention is racist!
OH....
After almost 50 years I find this out.
I always wondered what a "froghorn" was.
My bigger concern is the fact that high protein diets are associated with decreased bone density---but that's the trade-off for gaining muscle.
It would be nice to be able to con myself into getting most of my protein from raw foods, but I know in my heart there's no way I could pull that off without puking----and sitting on the toilet 6 times per day.
With regards to the kidney issue----this is why you see serious iron-heads walking around with big jugs of water---keeping the kidneys flushed is critical.
dbolzYep that's a concern as well and i agree if getting down raw protein was that easy there wouldn't be a market for those shakes anyway. Back in the day where i come from people suggested tapering up the protein powders. Say you want to go 8-10 scoops a day the suggestion was to hit 2 scoops for a month then go 4 scoops the next and so on till one reaches the desired protein powder intake. Supposedly this way the body and kidneys get used to the protein shakes instead of being shocked by too much protein at once. Of course since i came to the uk i never heard anything similar. Might give it a go this way so far up to 6 a day i never had any issues. Is the 1-2gall per day rule still enough when consuming that much powder? Raloxifene is a good agonist for the bone and increases bone density so if you are worried about bone density you might want to look at that. Its also an agonist for the liver and works in favor of our hdl/ldl ratio while cycling.
is that the only blender that would be able to liquify the ingredients enough? I just looked at them.very expensive im definitely gonna try this. thats my biggest problem is eating enough healthy food.(as it is for many im sure)
Montel Williams has been pushing his own in infomercials---but they have bad reviews online.
jasonh1 cup greek yogurt,1 cup soymilk, 1 cup blueberries, scoop syntha 6 (vanilla for me)sometimes peanut butter, and a bannana tastes great! tip, by a bunch of bananas at once wait till they get ripe, peal em and freeze in a zip lock. the frozen banana and blueberries help keep it nice and cold without having to add ice
I started to read this and I have gone. No way am I blending beef or chicken. But the idea does have Merritt and I might give it a try.
LOL.....I don't blend those (although I could with the Vitamix----yuk).
haha yeah that was where I thought you were going with it initialy. Might give the powder and fruit a go though.
I really want to try to for adding to easier protein intake... Is there any cheaper way to get a vitamix or something that basically blends just as well but cheaper?
I use my wife, a wisk and a big bowl
jasonhi got my vitamix at a thrift store for like 20 bucks so try thrift stores or ebay maybe (there pretty common used) you can buy seals for em online
I've just been using a regular blender and it's working fine.. I'm loving the recipe
I guess I've been doing it the hard way, my jaw muscles are friggin enormous though. Haha I'll have to spend some of my hard earned on one those bad boys and give my.jaw muscles a little break. I used to watch the jack lalain infomercial with all kinds of intentions. Thanks for pointing this out good post bra.
10 ounces of skim milk
scoop of peanut-butter
larger scoop of greek yougart
45 grams of American Pure Whey (isolate) rocky road
3 cubes of ice
*its like a Reese's except even better cause there is 60g of protein in it! lol
Bulgarian yogurt, frozen.. mangos, half banana, & strawberries, than a glob of smart balance peanut butter, 2 scoops flax+whey vanilla protein. a little coconut water and ice cubes. .. (wish i had the Vitamix i would add the spinach and some other harder stuff)
