Syringe Calibration

Do syringe companies calibrate the syringe to compensate for volume that the needle and tip of the syringe take up? It's a small amount but every little drop counts! I assume they calibrate for the plastic tip of the syringe but not the needle considering they don't know what gauge pin will be used with it. With smaller gauge, long pins you can loose almost .10ml. Any thoughts?

I pull the plunger back until all the oil i need is in there then I measure it by pulling air in I.e. for 1ml, i'd pull the plunger to the 2ml mark and it SHOULD stop at 1ml mark, if not I pump back in.
no, the needle or the hub are not measured. To test, fill .9 mil into the syringe. Then slid the plunger back to 2 mil. The volume of liquid should be 1 mil (between the 1 mil and 2 mil mark).
Personally I always leave a bubble about the volume of the hub and needle in the syringe. The bubble displaces the test in the hub when injecting.

You're correct. They do not account for the needle.
