+ 4 Reta and pancreatitis
ad
Interested if anyone else has had issues.
Monday, I had some killer chest pains. It started about 3-4 hours after my upped Reta dose (2mg) and it lasted all day and night. It was lower chest, right side.
Tuesday comes and I’m doubled over. So I spent 7-8 hours total in the ER running tests. My pancreas is inflamed with lipase over the 300 mark. They tell me it’s acute pancreatitis. Weirdly enough Reta and pancreatitis has a connection but it’s less than 1% of users.
I was sent home Tuesday and told to be on a liquid diet for a few days. It’s awful and painful. Stopped all reta.

I had this exact thing happen to me too. I was taking 2mg weekly and went down to 1mg after about a month because I was losing more weight than i wanted to. I stayed at 1mg for about an extra month and noticed I had pain in the center of my chest that traveled to my stomach and back to my chest over the course of 3 days. I went to work in pain and had to leave early to go to the ER. Acute pancreantitus. Lipase was elevated and having terrible triglycerides from high amounts of nor-19 AAS with A-bombs didnt help.
Jrihard89How long did it take you to feel normal?
Weirdly enough my triglycerides are 133 under 150 range.
If we include the days of pain leading up to the pain killers and medication, a little over a week. After that week/week and a half, id have random pains that would come and go for about an extra 5 days, but those werent anything serious. Its been roughly a month and a half since then and I did another 1mg of reta 2 days ago. I plan to run a month of 1mg then stop and reassess.
I hate this for you bro, glad you caught it. Ngl, i just started at 2mg this week, had no idea this was even a thing. I will keep an eye out now, thanks for posting. Hope you feel better soon gang.
I was reading a story the other day in the Newspaper about someone here who was using it and over time because of having such a decreased appetite your stomach shrinks. Well he decided to binge out I assume by briefly coming off it and he overate that much that his stomach burst and he died!!!
Sorry to hear that brother and wish you a speedy recovery.
Do you know if you have high triglycerides? Gallbladder stones or alcohol consumption? I work in medical field and research and even though there has been links nothing has been proven as of now since 2015 we got the first cases.
Nonetheless, speedy recovery!
Jrihard89Slightly high tri! But I was speaking to a doc who said that they’re no where near the levels they see with this issue. Gallbladder was 100% normal and no stones!
Alcohol I have maybe 1-2 drinks a year max. Usually a glass of wine at Christmas and thanksgiving. That’s absolutely it. Never been a big fan of drinking!
It’s been weird my lipase wasn’t even bad really! 23-300 and I was 302!
Damn brother, that sounds rough… glad you took it seriously and got it checked right away. Pancreatitis is no joke. Hope you recover quick and get back to 100% soon …
From what I understand, with compounds like Reta (GLP-1/GIP related), pancreatitis isn’t really something you can fully “supplement your way out of.” NAC, TUDCA, etc are great for liver support, but they don’t really protect the pancreas directly in this case.
Main things I’ve seen that might help reduce risk are keeping doses conservative and increasing slowly also watching diet (especially high fat binges while on GLP-1s) … Staying hydrated and paying attention to early signs (which you did right)
But yeah… sometimes it just happens, even when everything looks right. That <1% still hits someone.
Smart move stopping it immediately. I’d personally stay off and let everything fully normalize before even thinking about touching it or other glp1 again.
Take care of yourself my bro, health first always. Keep us updated when you’re feeling better !
Jrihard89100% the way I’m going. Full off GLP. I don’t want multiple attacks and next thing I know it’s chronic pancreatitis! No interest in em anymore. Just cardio and diet!
Yeah pancreas is a weird one. No medicine just liquid and rice diet to not force the pancreas to work too much! I already miss the gym lol. Could be good to take a few days off. I was pushing it off feel and I’d do 4 on 1 off training and once in a while I need to add in a double day off.
You don’t need a GLP or any compound for that matter. Tbh if ur on growth that is the best long term thing for body composition imo, in terms of compounds. You can get anywhere you want with proper diet and cardio will speed up the process
Jrihard89Preach! GH has been great for me in sleep. I haven’t slept this good in pretty much ever.
Slow and steady fat loss will continue after fighting this.
Dude 100%
Sorry to hear that brother, stay off that for sure obviously. Rest up.
Would Tirzepatide work better? Or is it all GLP meds you think?
Jrihard89That’s where I’m interested. Because Trize isn’t a 3 way GLP the last one that Reta has being the one affecting the pancreas!
I can diet without, I just loved how I had 0 hunger and made dieting easy!
Well I can attest to Tirz being a much better appetite suppression glp vs reta. I used it to drop 120+, and the i switched over to reta to maintain. I had huge hunger come back to hit me. I utilize a Tirz shot every 9 days on top of my weekly reta dose.
Rest up though, plenty of time to figure it out!
It looks like all of them can cause pancreas issues. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12457091/
Jrihard89Damn. Well good ole fashion tough out the hunger sometimes lol. Gotta start separating the food out now. Usually I mix everything together but when I’m deep in a diet I like to space it out and eat the protein first. Gets me full then the carbs send me over and I’m happy longer.
Anything to help since I can’t use Reta!
Dude, that sucks. I just started reta 3 weeks ago and you have me nervous now. Lol. From what I've read online, pancreatitis is excruciating.
Well if its truely 1% then its the same chance you have of dying form taking Advil so.
I can't take Advil. It almost killed me. j/k Lol. I'm giving it a go for 1%.
That a boy. Live on the edge
Def is wild though to think that there is a 1% chance of something happening and it happens to you. Like why can't that happen with Lottos or Scholarships or Athletic ability or Genes
Jrihard891% chance of NFL but I’ll kick my kid to the streets if he ain’t that 1% lol kidding
I will probably add Lipase to my next blood test though.
Jr should probably buy a lottery ticket.
Jrihard89lol I won the lotto, born in the U S of A baby LOL
That is crazy man, get better. I have heard of others getting this from Reta but it is very small percentage. Out of curiosity what was your total dose you were taking? I never went above 3mg a week.
Jrihard89I had just bumped Monday to 2mg! 1.75mg was hitting for a good while and died off a little so I bumped up. 3mg was the plan to never go above.
I cut it out (I was taking it MWF) and see where I’m at.
I only take 3mg once a week
Jrihard89You should be good also you’ve been on it. I’ve only been on Reta short term (less than 2 months)
I got a ton of Reta so time to swap to the freezer for the wife when she needs mire
iCONicDamn bro.. im going to have to research this. I had no idea. Less than 1% chance is so damn small man thats crazy
Jrihard89Very small! It makes sense with it being a glucagon.
I have been on TRT and GH before so the only variable is being newer to Reta. I also upped my dose to 2mg Monday and had symptoms Tuesday.
I’ll keep everyone updated if this continues once I stop Reta. My lipase thankfully is 350 slightly over. Not enough to have a hospital stay. Still feeling awful though. Rice and bone broth 3x daily for the next 2 days
iCONicDamn man. Did they give you anything to help with the pain?
Jrihard89They didn’t. Wild enough I’ve been reading a lot and usually you stay in the hospital.
I’m not one for pain meds though. To sleep I just got high last night lol.
Jrihard89Why are you being a faggot and down voting all my stuff including this? @UNIT_ guess hiding behind a computer is cool for you. Hope you don’t get pancreatitis ever
iCONicGreg banned him lol
iCONicHe was trashing the forum and sources in another post. I tagged @Greg, hopefully he sees it and bans that retard
Sorry Ito hear that buddy hope everything works out for you
Damn, I'm sorry to hear it brother man. I have heard about the link between the Pancreas and Reta. I hope you get better and back up on your feet quickly, so you can get back to your goals. This possible issue has been in the back of my mind for months now. I really hope I am not in that 1% group.
Jrihard89I’m praying too. I’m already over this and it’s sorta scary. The pain is something else!
Very very uncommon thankfully. So you shouldnt worry.
Hope you bounce back quickly, sorry to hear this
God is gonna get you back on your feet super quick, and healthy bro
Jrihard89I appreciate you man!
Just rest up brother, bone broth and rice fucking hits
Jrihard89I do love it! Bone broth is always so dang good. Winter time I’ll just have a cup after being outside in the cold all day.
