Red/Sore/Dry Lips

ad

I keep waking up with extremely sore, red, dry lips that doesn't really back off during the day. The only thing i've changed recently is started the following supplements.

What the hells causing this? Anything to do with estrogen at all?

I am not currently on a cycle im cutting, but im using the following supplements.

DAA
PES Erase Pro ( estrogen blocker)
L-carnitine Powder
CLA

Any ideas anyone? Everything else feels fine.

Update: Still shitty. Haven't dosed any of that PES erase and upped my water intake significantly.

Could it be any of the other supplements? I've been making good weight loss so its annoying why I have to suddenly stop these now to identify what it is. Really getting pissed off and demotivated now, been cutting for months and keep getting small shit come up to try and knock me off track.

Get a hygrometer and put it in your bedroom, itll measure the humidity in the air. If your air is really dry, like below about 70% humidity then invest in a humidifier. Also put some chap stick on before bed to keep your lips moist and protected while you sleep. And as everyone else has said, make sure youre drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Oh and if you breath through your mouth all day stop; nobody likes a mouth breather lol. Breath through your nose. Hope this helps bro

this is exactly what my girl says all the time!

It could be as simple as your heat in your house does not have a humidifier on it so the heat is dry. This will cause dryness and even nose bleeds.

Also L-Carnitine requires extra water intake do to the nitrogen boost. CLA has been reported to effect insulin resistance, this also can cause dehydration. I would make sure that my water intake was increased as well as supplementing with potassium, so as not to flush it all out of my system.

Banana + an extra gallon of water a day. I am also going to drop my erase pro to EOD now to see if I can replenish. Thanks for the info guys, very helpful responses.

Drank a litre of water before bed last night and I will do the same tonight + I missed todays dose of Erase. Might give it tomorrow also and report back in a couple of days.

Whats your water intake like? Erase Pro has diuretic properties. Its known to dry people out well enough, considering its OTC. I have ran it before and suffered from dry eyes & joints in addition to a VERY active bladder. At times it was very hard to hold it in.... to a point where it was like incontinence. lol I stopped running Erase Pro shortly after an episode in the car where I almost pissed myself.... sides went away when I stopped tho.

If you don't have any dry joint sides, you might soon. Go easy on the Erase Pro... drink more water... sounds like you are getting very dehydrated at night.

Thanks for this.

I drink about 4-5 litres during the day. Before bed i'l have a protein shake with around 500ml in it. I'll typically sleep from 11.30 until 8.30 and won't drink water until I get into work until about 9.30 Do you think its that gap in water intake which could cause it?

killroy's picture

absolutely.... or it could be dehydration induced by Erase Pro. You may want to consider modifying the dose of Erase to see if its causing you to dry out so bad. Red, raw and dry lips is definitely a symptom of dehydration

See here's another thing. I have been doing INTENSE cardio for 3 weeks, less than 100g carbs a day and 80g fats, eating something like 800 under maintenance and my wait is exactly the same since I started erase pro. Could it be my body is holding water out of dehydration and thats also why I looked at the scales in horror yesterday?

Also my joints are clicky and sorer than normal. Thats with a multi, omega 3 and glucosamine.

killroy's picture

very possible. also look into ketosis which can aggravate symptoms. If you are doing intense cardio, taking supplements which are known to dry you out and only getting in about gallon and a half of water..your best bet would be to increase your water intake by at least another gallon and make sure you keep your sodium/mineral levels in check.... while also looking at your supplementation (i.e. erase pro) and easing off it and resetting... lowering dosage etc.

If your scale hasn't moved for 3 weeks.... with intense cardio and modified diet... there is something wrong brother. And like Viper suggested above, try to get a sustained intake of water throughout the day.

See I thought about this, but I spend most of the time inside. Could this still be a factor though in the 10-15 minutes I spend outside a day?
