+ 5 Quadracep Post Injection Pain..This is why it hurts....the choice is yours
Many bros on here has already felt the horror of a Quad pin. This crippling pain usually rear its ugly head 12-24 hrs after injection. So what the hell is going on with the quad pin? Why not easy breezy like our gluteal pins?? Here is why:
There are particular muscles of your body that are "Structure" specific. These muscle groups quads, lattimus dorsalis, ab flexors are always in a constant state of TENSION. Even when we sleep these muscles are holding form. The quad itself is a double edge sword. On one hand pinning the quad will ensure a gauranteed route of drug administration. This is due to how vascular and big the quad muscles are my friends. On the OTHER hand, pinning the quad( which is always in a state of excitement) will 80-100% of the time react adversely to injections.
Use your imagination and peep this: If a bee was to sting you in the quad, your body will send out immunglobins and fluid to the sting injection area. The venom from the stinger is surrounded by immunoglobins and fluid. Your body is blocking the absorbtion of the poison from the rest of your body by doing so! THE FIRST FEW TIMES YOU PIN IN YOUR QUADS, YOUR BODY SEES YOU AS A BIG ASS BEE!! Thus its going to send out the appropiate amount of immunoglobins to damn and dike that area off from the body. This is the reason you have the pain, heat and swelling in that area.
So the pain is caused by :
-
Pinning too fast in an already excited muscle. Slow injection rate down in this are to approx 90 seconds/ml.
-
The immune response spoke about above. If you pin 1ml of aas, expect your body to flood the injection area with at least 2-5 ml of fluid.
-
Now all the fluid flooding your quad sheath is causing pain and inflammation by way of compartment syndrome. In other words way to many muscle, 1ml of steriod, 2-5 ml of fluid building up pressure in a tight space.
These are the reasons your deltoid and gluteals are the first regions designated for IM injection in the medical field. Normally quad injections are limited to emergency medicine administration and some diabetics. Diabetics would have biuld up resistance by pinning in the quad.
Treatment:
-
Anti-Histamine like benedryl, but be mindful of your blood pressure.
-
Antiinflammatory ie tylenol, ibuprofen, aleve..etc
-
Heat massage aids in absorptions
This is how you rid any post injection pain. 6....out!

I understand why people say about pip, but I can't say it's ever anything to realy complain about in my experience. A little soreness but nothing too bad
I've had a few painful ones but no worse than if someone gave me a punch to the leg..... U know it's a bit sore but definatly bearable
My first pin in each quad crippled me a couple of days after, could barely stand nevermind walk or train, I'm half way through my first cycle now and it's just a bit tight the next two days but doesn't hold me back.
I put 1.5ml with a 1x25g pin in my upper out quads x2 a week for my cyp injections. Its my new favorite spot actually just alternate left and right.
I started pinning my quads wish 1cc first time ever and crippled the shit out of me that was to much for a virgin muscule for me.
Next time I did .5 cc and all was good and worked my up from there......
I have done .5 now in every virgin muscule and never had a issue and moved up from there...
GREAT nugget. Start with .5ml, and then "increase oil volume incrementally." +1 brother. Nailed it.
Thanks bro. I learned that the hard way....
Good read.
Started with 1ml and worked quarter ml to 1.5ml max for quads over long timer period.
Upper outer of course and I prefer (with all my injections) to get the quick dart (just past the skin) and then slowly allow gravity do the rest with the weight of my fingers/hand to go in slow.
I like to stretch the skin before and hold during for quad injections so it makes the dart process smoother
I've found going in slow (the actual insertion of the needle phase) allows comfort and should you graze nerve/vein (rather than hit it by jamming it in fast) that its less abrasive and thus your reaction will be the same so you minimize any "muscle spasm" that can cause more trauma.
Once in (I use 1.5" 23guage for glutes/quads) most of the way I will aspirate and check for blood...as I release the aspiration (without blood found) the needle itself continues in deeper and smoother.
Its similar to the suction if you stabbed someone/thing with a knife, once in there will be lots of suction because of the blood etc. which makes it challenging to pull out but with the syringe you are obviously not causing the same kind of trauma etc.
I inject about 1/3rd of a ml at a rate of about 15seconds and stop, then repeat until all of the liquid is in.
For me, it seems to lessen the "lump factor" when complete.
A light massage as I press down with tissue to prevent any blood seeping from the fresh injection site.
Of course you are using EPIC hygiene by wiping the bottle then your site with rubbing alcohol etc. and after tissue press down with light massage another wipe with rubbing alcohol
I'm sure I take FOREVER compared to most but I do this with any site I inject with gear using a needles that are larger/longer than ones used for diabetic medications.
*I've also noticed that NIPRO needles seem much sharper than BD and they go in with ease into the muscle comparatively.
I do like the Easy Touch syringe barrels because they have wider "finger placement wings" but I have noticed at times the syringe itself seems to get stuck a little or can be harder to push then the BD syringes.
May have to go with BD syringe and NIPRO needles to see if the combination is the best I can get for a smooth push and a smooth insertion to site!!!*
Train for PURPOSE and stay healthy!
I put 5ml in each quad once a week no dramas, the gear crystalises once injected, heat melts the crystals down and disperses oil more rapidly, alot of guys think cold packs and it gets worse, i also put 3ml in my delts no worries, when people get lumpd its the bodies defence mechanism fighting off a " foreign" substance- cytokines are small proteins we have - "anti" and "pro" imflammatory, obviously the anti is good, the pro is the ones that first gather at the area of trauma the the "antis" rush there and gather to fight those ones off, then there is histamine which is released to secure the area with "fluid" surrounding the area much like a tornacay with a snake bite its trying to stop it going any further, smaller amounts injected more often is smarter for multiple reason, less trauma, less scar tissue, pain etc and less chance of a cellulutis mishap, our body also accepts and absorbs it better also.
If you are kidding make it clear. No one should be attempting this.
Yep just seen that should be a . In front of numbers- less more often.
Wow...that is allot of cc's/ml's in a shot.
Obviously with your experience level it works and I am sure leg mass will also determine how much one can fit into a body part comfortably then others.
I've not ever gone past 2ml in glute, 1.5ml in quads, 1-1.25ml for delts or the "sweet spot" close to the tricep area. *I have injected deep into triceps in past but stopped doing along time ago.
I'm also spreading out my injections throughout the week (perhaps more than others?) and doing a decent amount of gear but again maybe not enough to warrant such voluminous shots.
I suppose we also have to consider that some are taking shots of the same compound but at different mg/ml dosages which can also be a factor.
Add the link to where you found that.
Forget all of that and just use as small diameter pin as your chosen oil will permit. Most will push through a 25, but if you have nice thin oil 27's are just about guaranteed no pip.
Add what link to where I found what?
I do like the idea of a smaller diameter pin (was aiming to use 25 gauge instead of 23 for quads and glutes just as I use for delts and sweet spot near tricep area) as obviously less damage/trauma to muscle.
AnonThe worst is trying to fuck my wifey doggy style when pinning quads!!! Lol shit is all tensed up and hurting like a mofo.
A 5 year old thread,......... ????!&@#&@&??
Don't get me wrong, there are some great old topics in the archives,.........
ETA: pictures or it didn't happen.
Phat thumbs, cheap sorta smart phone
Sometimes I just get all stabby with my 18gauge 1.5" pins when I do quads. The blood just sprays everywhere. Then I rub rock salt in followed by some rubbing alcohol. Man, I hate that when that happens! lol
Just seen this! Fukn gold! Love getting all "stabby" pmsl
Shit man, just cauterize that bitch with your light saber.
Brilliant! I hadn't thought of that, but I have used a hot clothes iron, man it is difficult to get used to that smell!
There is nothing wrong with barbeque.
This might sound strange but I had really pain in my left quad it got worse after 2 days so I put a heat patch on it over night and u would say there was a 70% improvement! Not sure if this would of happened any way but the difference was huge, try a hot water bottle see, that is what I will be doing tonight.
To add for me if I hit a nerve you can feel the first prick and you can feel the pin move into the layer of fat it should stop hurting as u feel it enter the muscle if it still hurts there pull out put a fresh pin on move up or down an inch or so also try sitting and try to get the muscle to relax as much as u can
Just my experience...
I only inject quads and never had a problem even when first starting.
I use a 25ga 1"
I don't go over 1.5ml per site.
Sit down and relax leg
Find a spot on the outer sheath of the quad (you want to hit the vastus lateralis) and insert toward the floor (not toward the bone)
Rate of injection does not seem to matter. I prefer to inject fast (about 15sec) so I do less damage with the needle head.
This is with a TRT dose of test cyp.
The bigger you get your going to be forced to pin the quad. Reaching across a 50" chest is more difficult than across a 34" chest and when you include the wrist pronation it makes it even harder. I usually only get mild pin pain from quad pins, maybe a 1 - 3 at the worst, but some times when pinning I can see and feel the quad twitch during the plunge, this happens for me more in the lower parts of the upper outside quadrant. I used to freak but now I just ride it out, and yes I dart my quads almost all the way in and then slow push the final 1/2 inch or so, darting never seemed to be an issue with the quad.
First time pinning glute so far so good, I experimented with prop and TA on the quad and crippled me... my shoulder took it better as far as pain but the swelling redness and heat was all present including the "edema" all glute for me from now on
RustyhookerGoogle cellulitis pix. Then you'll know or realize you rotate 8 spots minimum....
Quads are the easiest. No pain, no blood, nothing but ease. Glutes are a pain in the..glute to even reach. Though there is some misinformation in this post, you can most definitely relax your quad. Just sit down..
Old post but very useful. I pinned 1 ml sust with 1 ml npp in right quad Friday, no pain or problems until Saturday and Sunday. Yowza! My keg hurts like hell! Think I'll stick with glutes and delts
AnonI've found 1cc or less ( once you are used to it ) causes zero pain except the needle tearing through the tight quad muscle. But even 2cc I get a good bit of pain & I've pinned a lot. It's a good place to rotate for ED or EOD pins but not so much if you're doing 2-3cc with longer esters…. IMO anyways
quads are one of my favorite sites to inject. i go to the outer side and sometimes a little above the tear drop. always with 25ga 1 inch. mine are so used to injections they hardly ever get pip, luckily.
Delayed response but how do you keep the needle still for 90 sec's while injecting? I was always told the end of the needle is like a razor inside the muscle and with every slight lateral movement it is cutting it up after the initial inject.I can stare at my hand and see it slightly moving. Any advice?
Its natural to have some movement...its just going to happen. Yes the beveled end of the needle does cause damage when moved around. Hold the syringe barrel more distal( closer to the needle hub, but not the needle obviously) brace your hand on your quad.
Resting the weight of the hand on the plunger also keeps the needle point in a "deep seat" allowing little movement. Just a trick you might want to try.
thank you for responding. I appreciate it.
I love to pin my quads. I use a 22g 1". Always get very little pip from them about 24 hours after the pin. I warmed up the oil once but actually had more pip from warming it up for some reason. My buddy on the hand can't touch them or won't be able to walk the next day day.
Tylenol is not an Anti-Inflammatory. Its acetaminophen with pain relieving and fever reducing properties, but no anti-inflammatory properties.
Nice post. I think it helps out alot to relax the quad muscle while pinnin. Its aways involentariely tence, but if you can place the leg on a stool, while sittin and angle the leg, is one way. I guess it would depend on the person, but it can be relaxed, kinda like when a bodybuilder is shacking his quads during competition. Then do what the post OP posted, it has help me alot. I read something similar a while ago
I think quad injects are the best. I personaly must have alot of nerves inside my delts and quads, not much in the glute. Its a 75% chance I go thru one. I had my first aspiration this weekend. I can feel it cutin thru it. It doesnt hurt but the next day I will have PIP unrelated to gear and sometimes most of the time, also related to gear.
Just pinned four days ago with 1mg Test E 250 (1st pin, 1st cycle). I have since been limping around with quite a bit of swelling and redness, not to mention my immune system freaked out and gave me a sore throat as well as a breakout on my lip. Still able to hit legs today (barely), but dreading my second pin tonight. My wife is phlebotomist, so I know it was steril and hit the right spot. Problem is, she's used to get'n-r-done in a few seconds and didn't realize that 90 seconds may be a bit more appropriate. Hope it goes better tonight.
Thanks for all the great tips!!!
I always pin my quads and don't have any problems.Maybe years ago on my first cycle but who remembers that far back.I do try to stick with human grade pharma whenever possible though.Been burnt on UGL and wasted precious cycle tome and money.Maybe my quads are just used to taking on oils.
Interested to here about your experiance with UGL'S...sendng friend request
Yep big man you are correct. There are plenty of people out here who are like that. Diabetics who administer 70/30 units of insulin twice a day feels negative PIP. Long time aas users enjoy this also because quads are a great avenue for increased absorption rate.
is this a copy and paste? i feel like i read this word for word somewhere.
Naw bro...I literally just freestyled this in 10 mins. Incorrect grammar , punctuations and all. All I know is that I've been stabbing folks for 15 yrs and know what hurts and why it hurts.
good job bro
when they say ''inject slowly''....15 seconds for a injection of 1ml is too quick so?? some people told me 90secs....DAMN that's a minute and a half...
Yep I'm a fan of 90 seconds per ml. 15 seconds are still too fast for the quad, but perfect for the glutes. Remeber your quad is an active muscle, to fast of an injection will irratate it.
I stay far far away from the quads. So wht do you think about tricep injections with a 27G x 5/8" pin?
Thats fine just keep the needle at 90 degree to your arm. relax your arm as much as possible. Switch out to a 25gauge x 5/8 or 1". 27 just might be to slow which will cause you to move the pin around in your arm to much.
brachii lateral or brachii long head? I guess the lateral is easier to get to
