Powerlifting
Sup fellas,
I’m not sure if this is the right forum for it but fuck it.
I’m wanting to compete in at least one powerlifting competition before my time is up in this life. I’m settled on a small scale, local gym type competition.
Currently, I’m on my second weeks cruising on 200/wk test prop with daily pins in the morning, 1st week on GH at 2iu/ED before bed, 4.5mg/wk of reta split MWF and 10mg/ED cialis in the morning before gym. First time using prop instead of what I’ve always used- test cyp. Going for a minimum of 8wks on cruise and if blood markers are good then start a cycle. Will be getting bloods at the 4.5 week mark just to see where everything’s at.
I hit the gym 6days/wk and rest on Sunday. Diet is better than ever before in my life- my wife has helped me in figuring out caloric and macro intake. So now for the first time in my life, I’m actually doing something right when it comes to eating because I’ve never paid attention to it. Starting 3wks ago, I’ve had to slow down on going heavy in the gym because my alt/ast were quite elevated. Also at that time I was on tren ace at 65mg/ED. I was on it for roughly 7wks until bloods came back showing my liver enzymes. I have been and still taking liver support supps(NAC, Tudca, Milk Thistle and Fish Oil) since July of last year. Coming down from my heavy workouts have been a mental challenge because I have a goal in mind plus I felt great! Everything was going well- other than liver markers but my mental, emotional and physical state were the best I’ve ever felt in my life.
I am 38yrs old, 6’1”, 297lbs(dropped from 325 in the last 1.5 months) and dexa scan had me at 24% bf.
Basically I’m asking for advice or opinions on how should I go about next cycle WHEN I do start it, what’s a good time frame to train and compete(I’m not trying to go to win, just to compete and see what I can do) and workout programs/splits. Speaking of splits, I don’t even know what it’s called but basically I do chest/tris, back/bis, shoulders and legs E3D. So I’ll end up doing legs twice a week.
Anyhow, what’re your thoughts and any advice or criticism is appreciated and will be taken into account. Thanks ya’ll!

Generally, powerlifting training is not the sexy push yourself to the limit people think it is. I would do some real research into the programming side of it. The training doesn’t usually look very healthy, compared to what your describing you’re currently doing above. It’s a lot of low volume and resting .
It’s your first meet so just have fun and enjoy yourself. You don’t have to do powerlifting specific training, you probably can just look up how to peak into a meet and just keep doing what you’re doing.
For the cycle I’ll let the more experienced guys talk, but I did 350 test 300 deca for 12 weeks and finished with 2 weeks of halo at 10mg. Felt fantastic on it and numbers went up big time.
Thank you for your insight! Having fun is part of it. Basically just want to see how I’d do you know? I’m not trying to be all “Westside Barbell” lol. Basically just lowest effective dose, hit the gym hard and when the time comes and I feel good, enter one and have fun!
I’ll have to look into that cycle of yours! Thank you sir!
6'1", 297lbs 24% bf.
You must be fuckin massive jacked.
Need @press1. This is his WHEELHOUSE
For reference I'm 6'3", 210 12-13% or so and I'm no slouch.
Props brother.
Far from it brother. If anything “stocky”?
Shit bro 12-13bf!! That’s freakin shredded!!
Thanks man! Wanna get down to like 9-10 so I have plenty of hang time when I get bulked later this year.
There's no way I could ever powerlift, at one time in my life I thought I might, but I just don't have that strength gene man. I mean I'm plenty strong, but theres some fucking ANIMALS out there putting up STUPID numbers.
Good luck to you.
Man you guys are disciplined and dedicated! Props to you brother and rooting for ya!
Thank you sir! One of these days I will compete and be proud of whatever outcome.
It's really not that bad. Eating to get there is pretty easy in terms of the macro count and staying on track.
It's the fucking 8hrs of meal prep I gotta do every Sunday that kills me
