Pin disposal?

ad

Where do you guys get rid of old pins and gear? I feel bad driving to a restaraunt or business to dump shit in their dumpster but I am not about to drive to a hospital or docs office to properly dispose of my illegal shit. I usually just hoard it for 6 mos-yr then dump it. What do you guys do?

im with run, i usean old protein or liver tab container then duct tape the top on. i trash it in the Circle K dumpster.

I use my old whey tubs. Why not put them to good use, and they can hold a lot of pins. I also put everything in there, the pins, syringes, plastic wrappings, alchy pad wrappers, etc. When its full I duct tape the shit out of it and put "DANGER: SHARPS" all over it.

I got a box of Red Bio Hazard bag at an auction once, it was on a mixed pallet.

Maybe I'll do a 10 bag PIF someday. :-)

I go to the high school across town who always kicks our ass in football and drop them all over the boys locker room---and then call the news station and tell them I heard those fuckers were doing steroids and they need to send a news team to investigate.

And now you know why all the colleges go there and give out scholarships to their football players.

toss vials into the trash or recycling like any other glass bottle (I place mine in a bag or other container so as to be less obvious).

You can place your sharps in a 2 litter soda bottle, empty Clorox bottle, or even an empty radiator fluid bottle. When finished tape the lid shut with tape. Toss in the regular trash; not the recycling.

There are different rules for home disposal v commercial disposal so you don't need to worry about following commercial "hazardous waste" guidelines.

You can Google "sharps disposal home use" for your county/city to see if there are other restrictions/requirements.

Pin responsibly

What is legal in my state is to put all pins in a detergent bottle, close and tape up the cover, the write big and clearly on the bottle " DO NOT RECYCLE ", and throw it in the regular trash bin not recycle trash bin ofc.

Aren't most spaghetti jars glass ?? Wouldn't a heavy plastic (wide mouth) jar with a screw on top be better. (Like the bigger Pace salsa bottles.)

How about a generic plastic peanut butter jar after it has been washed out ???

Really wasn't trying too, just their jars are so HD plastic with wide mouths.

Lets say I'm not endorsing the product, just the packaging.

great post. I have a container with all my old med waste I need to clean out.

walmart might clean them and resuse. Who knows with dem.

i understand that the sharps container raises awareness and safety. but can you still just throw that container out with your trash?

Greg's picture

Actually I'd say use your discretion and know the laws in your state/county/city.

In my county you can get sharps at select drug stores without a script. Getting "caught" with one --even with trace amounts of drugs (used) is not a punishable crime.

The county is more concerned about spreading disease and is afraid tougher anti-drug laws would encourage irresponsible use/disposal of sharps.

One problem you could run into, Federal, state and county/city laws can all be different, if they can't get you with one they will try another, till they can screw with you.

Just look at the pot clinics in my home state of Censored, state say "YES", Fed's say your "BUSTED".

Oh sure, leave it to you to make a federal case out of it... ;-)

even if the CIA went thru my trash they would end that act quickly as i have several bags of dogshit in there. Every day I comb my yard for land mines, bag it up and put it in the blue r2d2s that the city provides.

i can see the headlines now in this small town ****cache of dirt needles found behind walmart, drug use on the rise. gotta love small town usa....

eliot_99's picture

here is a good idea i received from a nurse. put them all into a 2 letre pop bottle, this makes them safe in the garbage so not buddy desposing your garbage gets cut or stabed by your old needle. Once they get to the dump, the people there will despose of the bottle. Thats advice i got from a canadian nurse. so that is what i do
