+ 5 New guy advice

ad

I see lots of new names here popping up with questions, welcome aboard. You're in a great place and I wish all of you the best of luck. I'd like to give a few pointers that may help you get more out of your experience here,

1 Read the rules. This is first and foremost
2 Use the search bar. Probably most of the questions you need answers to have excellent well written responses.
3 have your labwork done. We all care about health here, you need baselines to get accurate advice and make sure you're body is healthy enough to tolerate what you're going to do.
4 share. None of us knows everything, you may have something valuable to share but feel hesitant.
5 be honest. This list isn't in a specific order, but this is a big one. If you're not up front about experience, weight, age, you're just looking to get into some trouble.

There's of course many other pointers, but these are the basics that have worked for me. I'd say be polite, but this should be a no brainier. It took me a little while to learn, I used to have much higher karma lol. So read the rules and get started on your journey. Best wishes to all.

Excellent post. One thing that I always tell the new members that I have spoken to which goes very well with point 5 is that if your not honest your not going to fool anyone here regardless. Most of us who are active on the forums are knowledgeable enough and have be around long enough to be able to smell bullshit from a mile away.

"I'm 5'8, 265 lbs, 40 years old been training for 15 years, using gear for 10 and want to know what you guys think about insert ridiculous cycle idea that no knowledgeable AAS user would ever consider"

If your new to training, gear or both just say so and don't make us call you out. Everyone who has ever done anything had a day 1 where they started fresh with no knowledge. No shame in admitting it, but lots of shame in lying about it.

Nice contribution mate. Eroids the place for safe usage of steroids, if there is such a thing.

I see diet on most pages but not this one. I think posting up a sample layout of a days worth of food would be really helpful to get feedback on. Just saying goal is to bulk with 4000 calories a day with 300g protein sounds good on paper until you find out what that person is actually eating to get there. Kinda goes hand in hand with accurate stats and a picture.

I often think a brief run through of lifting numbers is essential also in deciding if someone should be jumping on a cycle or not - Someone still doing triples with 225 in Bench & Squats should NOT be jumping on any compounds yet. It shows how much time they have been putting into the gym and diet up until now. Just because someone is already 200lb's doesn't mean they should be cycling yet if they can't lift for sh**.

Hi everyone, I'm 31 and I am on doctor prescribed trt covered by insurance. Enjoy recreational lifting and am always open to learn more. My physician does my blood work for me. I eat relatively clean with a 40-40-20 ratio of carbs proteins and fats. If I had to estimate I would say I'm 15-16% bf with slight abs showing.

Just to learn more about hormones in general. I have only had experience with prohormones when they were legal and yes I know how harmful they are. Funny how laws regarding hormones work.

Thank you for the advice I will follow steps

After step 1-5. Repeat step 1. In case you missed anything.

I've been seeing people lately who are too tired, lazy. Lazy in search for information about their choices.

It's a really bad start...

To add on to number 5, post pics so someone can truly know what you mean when you say you weigh 200lbs, my advice would change dramatically for a guy who is 200lbs at 9% vs 20% BF.

Also height and weight can be tricky. People have different bone structure and carry muscle different.
Lee Priest- 5'4 235 lbs
Tom Platz- 5'7 235 lbs

Without a picture and just going by their stats one could easily assume they had high b/f.
So yes if someone posting a topic asking for information or feedback a dated picture is very helpful for members to give proper feedback.
