Don't let it go you could end up in the emergency room - involuntarily.... If you don't have a way to obtain antibiotics normally either from a DR visit or just simply won't go to the ER ( as was pointed out they can't deny treatment, but it WILL be expensive to pay off ) then the vet route is the way to go. Yes they weren't made for human consumption but antibiotics are toxic as f*ck to begin with, it's ALL bad for you the reality of the matter is veterinarian grade and human grade are the same damn thing and are often compounded IN THE SAME FACILITIES. Not a commonly known fact. The idea that somehow amoxicillin for say fish is any different than the amoxicillin designated for human consumption is absurd, there may be secondary non active ingredients that differ but the active ingredient will be the same damn thing. ANYWAYS.... If you look at the ingredient list and there are only 1-2 things on it - that is what you want. I hate this "conventional wisdom" where someone reads a textbook and thinks because a pharmacy distributes something it's safe. I WORK IN A PHARMACY. Most - if not all - medications could be classified as poisons by definition... I don't know why anyone actually trusts doctors all they do is prescribe whatever the hell their manuals tell them to based upon symptoms - and guess who wrote those manuals? Pharmaceutical companies. Who did the studies about those medications? Ok you get the point rant over before I go overboard. Take care of it ASAP and you will NOT die from using vet grade antibiotics. I'm not familiar with fish antibiotics but if you can find amoxicillin ( or penicillin ) that should do it - if nothing happens within 72 hours ( this is highly unlikely ) PM me please I'll send you my leftover ciproflaxin which is effective against some things that amoxicillin ( and penicillin ) are not, specifically gram stain negative bacteria. If you don't know what doses to take PM me as well. You don't need the fancy brand name overpriced crap like bactrim that's a joke.
