Is it wise to do a Double Red Cell Donation?
ad
How's it going guys?
I've recently donated blood and was looking into filling an additional bag as well as to keep the good ole' blood pressure under control. My only draw back is the side effects and lethargy.
Do any of you experience this? What are the biggest draw backs if there are any at all? What do you guys normally go for?
Very interested to hear back from y'all. Thanks!

I do a double red donation 4 times a year, never had any issues. I take lisinopril daily, as long as I stay well hydrated it works well for me.
If BP is an issue on cycle then Lisinopril is great for dropping it instantly, I still have a tonne of it from when my BP ramped up in the summer during the heatwaves here. As others have said below the body replenishes lost blood pretty quick after donating so you may not see a big long term difference. Running gear in colder countries also helps Lol I would definitely not be able to stick out a tren cycle in a hotter climate - no way.
If high BP is an issue on cycle, one definitely needs to see doc and get it under control. As I got older and also put on more mass my BP has become an issue especially on cycle. I usually need to take some kind of meds to control it. Lisinopril has been one of those. Has worked to good for me at times those and lowered my BP too much and I got dizzy after getting up or bending over. Switched over a to mild diuretic (forgot the name of it at the moment) which I seem to tolerate a little better.
I donate every couple months, I’ve done double red as well as whole. I prefer whole since it’s faster. I have to go every few months because my hematocrit and RBC count gets too high. Eat plenty before you go, I like a sugary snack before and after. And hydrate, a lot. Nothing worse than going in for a donation dehydrated.
Typically, I feel better in the days after donating, maybe it’s placebo but it seems like my blood flows more efficiently.
I haven’t noticed a difference in my BP pre and post donation, your body moves pretty quick to increase the plasma in your bloods to make up for the lost volume.
MightyMatt812I always donate double red. Your supposed to eat before you donate. I always go in afternoon or evening eating all day and I’m just fine. Eat a chocolate bar after u donate and drink lots of water. I always feel great after I donate more energy
RustyhookerWhats your on cycle bp like? What is nirmal? What do you do for bp control?
You don’t loose anymore volume. It’s best to do a regular one.
Also you have to wait twice as long to donate again.
The issue of waiting twice as long if you do a double red is why I just do the regular donations also. Really don't see a benefit in doing double reds. They always do ask me to do a double since my hemo and RBC are always so high and they say I would be a perfect candidate for it though.
Molinin302Whole blood a few times a year for me. If you're having chronic blood pressure issues its not a solution or a good treatment long term. 3-4 times a year has benefits to you, even better benefits for the recipient, but its not a fix my guy.
Definitely agree about the temporary fix. My blood pressure is normal, only spikes when I go on gear. Doc advised me this normal when testosterone is high.
