+ 2 Is it possible to get big lifting very light weight

ad

I had a serious injury and still have a long way before im 100% but need to get back in the gym. Can you get big using very light weight?

zeb0312's picture

I believe it is possible if all the nutrients is taken with in the proper time and keep the most blood as possible in the muscule being exercised that is makes them grow as well in my opinion. I work out and keep the most tension possible in the muscule and squeeze the shit out of them. I don't go real heavy anymore because I'm not young I lift smarter now day's. Best of luck bro.

Very doable. Reps till you get to mega burn, then a few more reps. My bro did good after injury training like that. needed a bit more recovery due to soreness but very doable

U bet bro

MedDx's picture

You need to be in a positive nitrogen balance.

Ur gonna get thru this....stay the course, brother...

Jesus brother! That is a brutal looking injury. I believe from my experience you can grow using light or heavy weight. The bottom line is if you are lifting "said" amount of weight with pure focus and acute intensity, slow during the eccentric portion and exploding up, you will grow...period. Im not so sure how aggressive you can actually lift at the moment but in my eyes...any lifting is better than no lifting. Sometimes you just have to put questions and worry aside on what to do and let your body dictate how the session goes. Keep the environment for muscle gain optimum, nutrition, good sleep. Get in there and lift. I've had to use the rubber grip purple db's before but it played a part in the conditioning of the mind and keeping the ultimate love of lifting at the forefront. Lifting will get your mental state firing off feeling better which coincides with a healthy healing environment for the body. One day at a time...one lift at a time!

Bolt has an awesome flare for writing...brings me in and makes a difference in perception..

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

This is what i get from Bolt.

Bolt is all about the real things that Bodybuilding and weight training stem from!... Bolt possess,s gut raw passion and love for all things hard graft related... Bolt,s persona exudes motivation and gets guys adrenalin flowing to go attack the gym like a man possessed.

Bolt.. i bet is like me and wouldnt care fkn less if ALL the Steroids and ALL the supplements on the planet were buried under the sea bed!.. he would still train like a wild animal hunting a meal.... and i bet he would accept ALL that and still have a smile on his face Smile

I may be wrong!.. but i doubt it.. in fact i am 99.99% positive and ive never met the guy.

bolt781's picture

To a tee brother! Lifting is at the forefront every single moment of every single day! I've managed to learn how to see through the constant assault, so as to be a functioning spouse...employee etc..., mentally nit picking the days lifting session. Analyzing lifts like I haven't already performed them a million and one times! Going over tomorrows meals for the day after that's lifting session. Constantly planning constantly envisioning.
The motivation,....I have no clue where the motivation comes from...in 16+ years I have never once not anticipated a day of lifting nor have I missed an on day. Ever! I am physically unable to. I feel un- whole outside the weights. I am at peace and whole while under the weights. I have a set hour and a half no matter what to lift...if there is no reason to be finished in that time I go untill I literally hurt...not pain...like while lifting...but hurting...and Ill already be thinking about doing it again the next day.
. People in my life have come to terms sharing me with lifting. I'm lucky enough to have a woman that supports it. They might not understand and that's ok because I dont truly understand why just the thought of working out dilates my pupils and gets me from 0-100 in a split second. It just happens...it just is.
. Brother you are right...take everything away, drugs, fkn the worlds eyesight, even food. If I'm breathing I'm lifting! Its my means to an end. Every action during a day is me working through it to get to the weights! And anyone else who shares the same passion is already a brother to me...PERIOD! Knuckles brother!

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Haha............. Question answered............ Bolt style!!

Your passion alone has made my eroids comeback well worthwhile Smile

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

yeah hes alright

bolt781's picture

Knuckles brother Med!

bolt781's picture

Most definitely brother! That's staying the course, being active, on track allowing yourself to stay focused on the ultimate goal! Give it time, your body will communicate its state. You'll be under the weight again, before you know it...WHAM! Hittin on all cylinders!

Sorry to hear of your injury fella, all I can say is that time is a good healer with slow and steady to get results after an injury and at 280 lb it's not as if your small my friend so it may be a case of light weights with high reps and controlled movement mixed in with some A.M cardio to gain as you put it....your physique back.
I wish you the very best of luck

mwagner630's picture

this is something kai green talks about often. i rarely lift heavy because of the amount of injuries i have sustained. i always have people in the gym ask me how i am so big when i never lift heavy. dont get me wrong i can throw around some weight i just choose not to. I focus solely on from, complete extension, hard flex, and full relaxation between each rep, i also do not take any rest period. i am consistently EXTREMELY sore from this an i love it. i do alternate my routines, but i feel i get my best growth from light weight, 12-15 reps

konig's picture

I agree with that 100%.. After every workout I am extremely sore it bugs the shit out of me, I AM ALWAYS SORE.. I sometimes do 1RM or go heavy but most the time I just completely exhaust my muscles, don't necessarily count sets or reps..

Catalyst's picture

You were 280 from your stats, where are you at now?

I'm sorry for what you've been through, but I also know that as a guy that's built a 280lb physique you have what it takes to fight back. Got to work with what you've got mate, even if that's picking up 5kg dbs.

U still in the hospital?

MedDx's picture

MedDx's picture

konig's picture

MedDx's picture

Saying some prayers for you brother...hang in there...keep us posted on ur progress, too.

MedDx's picture

Yep... u bet.

MedDx's picture

Is that ur arm bro? What happened?

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

at 280 im not sure what you are looking for.... but yea you can bro, the muscle doesnt know the difference in 20kg or 100kg......... its how you use the weight and how much micro-cellular damage you create..... THEN it has to have a constant supply of nutrients to heal and over compensate for the hammering you gave it.

Thats a brief synopsis....... just to get the thread alive lol

TheFlash85's picture

this is interesting, i started doubting myself the last 3 weeks in the gym, ive been doing heavy bench and shoulder press but i changed my bicep/ tricep/ back routine, lighter weight more reps, feel that burn nd fully control each rep, in the back of my mind ive been thinking i hope it doesnt create that "ripped" affect because im bulking.

on a side note, i have been following the negative tension perfectly like i saw you write, spending about 12-15 seconds on the way down with bench and shoulder press and im loving the results already, trying too reach those fibres closer too the bone.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Stick with it bro you will get a growth response from the ultra slow twitch fibres near the bone with negatives........ the heavier the better, try it with a weight you cannot raise!... start from the top then control that fucker down real slow... i have to count the seconds in my mind because my teeth are so hard clenshed i cant talk when doing these.

Works with every body part....... after a while you will notice a fair strength increase doing normal reps.

P,S you will only get the ripped look by working the fast twitch fibres just under the skin (the outer of the muscle belly)

MedDx's picture

Did u see his lacerated left arm in his pic??

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

i have now......... thats a mess

MedDx's picture

Looks like it was stapled to start off with, then dehisced from an infection...

MedDx's picture

Speechless, bro... sorry about the compartmental syndrome. But, most of all, glad ur out. Are u going to outpatient OT?
