irritated with my endocrinologist
so today i got a complete CBC and hormone panel. doc comes in says "looks great!" i asked where am i at on everything" this is after i asked multiple times for a print out of everything which i didnt receive. he said "ill mail it to ya"
so he tells me estrogen is good 38ng/ml progesterone under 10 than i ask about free test and test serum lol here is the answer i got . "almost 6000 for testosterone and almost 2000 for free test." so i asked him what are the exact numbers, and he replies, im not on the page anymore (WTF! hes on the computer like he couldnt go back) his concern was my hematocrit was 10ng/ml over normal. i answer," well do you not notice im sick as hell and a bit dehydrated? next page please!!"
the look on his face was priceless after that reply, he didnt even respond. bwahahaha
so long story short, i got no straight answer, no real numbers, and hes mailing it to me, like he said the last three times ive been there. i told him today, i want my results on everything, its not a request, a F@@KING demand, i pay out of pocket and if i dont get them by friday im going to another doc, who will request them and ill get to see them any way. he had me sign a paper to make copies and will have them to me by friday. ill believe it when i see it.
irritated with foot dragging docs, who act like they have no reason to answer your question because they feel you wont grasp the content of their answer.

Wow all these stories of crappy endocrinologists... Mine is great. She is super smart and told me like all the other doctors she recommends i stop but if i wont she will help me do it right. she reffered me to a doctor that was a specialist in hormones as well. he is booked until december which will be after my pcts but thats a good time in my opinion. got the appt booked tho. sorry for you guys bad luck with the endos tho
p.s. i would find a new endo
Hmmm I usually end up taking the words out of my docs mouth an he looks at me like "how does he know all this stuff". Hell if any of my family needs to go to the doc they usually call me first to see wht I think. I spent a lot of time studying medical related issues. The point is let the doc know your not a idiot.
AnonEndo's get about 6 months to a year in med school on the hormone system's.. and steroid practices aren't preached by any means.. just because they know the in's and out's of what each "LOW" or "HIGH" means when it comes to your bloodwork, doesn't mean they are going to be able to relate them to your using experience.. Ive seen some pretty DUMB people who are nothing more than book smart make it through medical school in my day.. I think you need a fine balance of everything
AnonWhen I went to see my endo I asked what her specialty was and basically she specialized in diabetes and how its affected by hormones. Glucagon and the pancreas relationship.
I media rely asked her how she envisioned my treatment of hypogonadism. Her answer was to take me off TRT and see if I rebooted! Are u fucking kidding me?!?!? I told her the visit was over and thanked her for her time:) She couldn't Believe it! I walked out that motherfucker and never went back to another endo. Finding an endo with any sense is next to impossible. They pretty much have to be ex gear heads to have any idea of what why and how in regards to our lifestyle choices or ramifications.
ClassyChassisQuite a few doctors are control freaks who like to keep a mystique of all-knowing, all-seeing omnipotence shrouding them. It seems to act as some sort of a shield for them.
Plus, they really don't have time to get into discussions/arguments with all their patients. It's easier just to blow them off. And whereas you are educated enough to understand, many of his/her patients may well be idiots. You don't need to spend lots of money and study for years if you want a job where you argue with idiots.
Plus they don't want any sort of emotional involvement, so they can't view you as a person, and this is another way that arrogant aloofness acts as a shield.

Yeah I have gone round and round with all types of doctors for years. VA doctors, oncologists for family members etc. I think the one thing they forget when they think we should be kissing their ass because they have a medical degree is "I am the paying CUSTOMER!" So i act like a disgruntled customer when needed, all I expect is what I am paying for no more or less. Not some dog and pony show, I also like to remind them that I may not be educated in the medical field but I am highly educated so don't think you can talk over my head or condescend to me. Especially when it comes to what I paid for.
I have a strong understanding of endocrinologists especially VA doctors. I have seen their budget, I have a close family member that handles finances for the VA hospital where she works at and the cheif of staff (her boss) is an Endo. The truth is they are VERY knowledgeable and to be honest endocrinology is a very difficult field of study compared to most others. Another problem is TRT is relatively new and usually endos who work at the VA have been working there a long time aka they old. So there's 2 issues going on. They ARE smart and know their shit BUT don't traditionally do too much trt treatment unless absolutely necessary so in a blood test they will be happy raising your levels to 450-500. Another problem is they have an extremely limited budget and some of the recommended tests are avoided due to finances. I see it all the time, they pick and choose which tests they will choose to do and only pick the absolute necessary ones. It's very sad. I see patients requiring surgery but instead are given painkillers forever because its cheaper. Shit like that happens all the time in VA. So You can't really blame them even if they understand what you are arguing chances are they are trying to change the subject of blow it off because they don't want to tell you the VA isn't going to fund your tests
Based on the size of the new VA hospital going in North Carolina...they have a bigger budget than one would think!
Well brother you have a very unique group of VA doctors that you know lol. You poll any combat vet here and ask about their personal experience with long term care for the VA doctors I think you will be in for a surprise. Also we are not talking about competency we are talking about conceit and no doing what they said they would do. Which I believe was the OP point originally. For the record my endo is not a VA doctor I actually pay out of pocket for one of the best in this department.
My endo isn't a VA doc either. My first experience with a va endo was less than satisfying. He said come off whatever I'm on come back in 3 months than ill do a full lab panel lol I never went back

no im doing a great blast right now. although i would have liked to have seen the actual numbers to verify myself. but im running the masteron and a decent amount of test right now. its the highest #'s i have ever had. but ill attribute that to mast and test level im running. i also added 10mg a day of nolva and it seems to be amplifying the mast effects.
No those labs are impressive man no doubt. I understand your frustration though. But maybe your doc can't take you seriously if he knows your blasting the shit out of a cycle lol. Is it cheaper to just do privatemdlabs on your own? Pretty sure you can get a shit load of test - bloodwork, urine analysis, thyroid, hormones, kidneys, liver etc all for between 80-200 bucks without having to hassle with a doc. I'm only suggesting this because you say you pay out of pocket.
You might be best to keep looking for a doc that completely understands your intentions. All doctors are different man. Some are strict, some are liberal, some are in a hurry, some will do anything to find the root of your problem. etc but it's hard to find especially in a limited field like endocrinology most endo's focus on diabetes and thyroid or old guys with prostate cancer so the TRT treatment is different than what bodybuilders would prefer lol

i primarily go to an endocrinologist for a few simple reasons. just to get my blood work done, make sure all is in good ranges, i dont save much money doing a 2 hour round trip drive to private medlabs. this endo may not give me the answers i ask but informs me my levels look good and are with in normal range. hes aware of what i do and at the end of each visit asks me if i want any scripts for estrogen, prolactin, or what ever else i think i may need. i have yet to get a script as i have more than enough on hand but i probably will at some point. my biggest issue is his answers arent detailed with exact #'s like we all like to hear. hes a private unaffiliated doc. he actually treats a lot of men for trt. he just irritates me because he spends no time going over shit and never answers my questions completely and i never get copies of my blood work as i ask for.
How much are you paying out of pocket for an endocrinologist? And is this not being reported to your insurance?
its 100% out of pocket. this way i control who the information goes too. i go once a month and its a few dollars shy of $200 this includes office visit, and blood work. he asks me everytime if i want scripts for AI or prolactin control. havent needed them so far and to be honest have no idea how much the cost is at a pharmacy for them
That's awesome! I gotta try this because there are no privateMDlabs in my state so I need to do what you're doing to get bloods.
to be honest, the closest private med labs is a little over an hour from me. so the round trip cost of gas and lunch to get there and home plus blood work, isnt much of a savings compared to this in the end.

I hate to say it but im never nice to many doctors or anything. I am very polite to most people but they fucking piss me off sorry for the language but they do. If it was me I would get very stern with them and go in there and tell them how its done and then get a different doctor. most doctors think they own this world they r arrogant pricks. find a new one and if u don't like him or her go on to the next best of luck brother.

Obama BlowsYa they are douche bags that's for sure. Mine wanted $495 out of pocket to get labs done so that they have some recent ones. Makes sense. So I say, tell me what labs you want done and I'll to my regular dr and only pay like a $50 co-pay for the same shit and he can just send the results over. I mean, I'm going to my dr anyways...makes sense to get everything done at once, right? So I get no reply. I shoot an email to him, no reply...WTF?!
Take control of your health care and dump the guy. Research new doctors and go to them. There are lots of good doctors as well as bad ones. Good medical care is really up to you. Best of luck.
i started looking for a new one today. problem is they all want a referral. which means i have to go to my PC pay his office visit just to get the damn referral. it would be a whole lot easier if id just buy another car and start going back to private med labs an hour from here.
The process is very frustrating, but will pay off in the end. You may have to pay to get a referral, but it will pay off with a good doctor and all that he/she can do for you. Don't get frustrated and be persistent throughout the whole process and you'll get what you want.
