+ 3 How to gain 100lbs in 20 weeks
With bulking season here, I thought I’d share my experience from 15 years ago. I think nowadays it is referred to as a dirty bulk? Back then it’s all we really knew and what was ‘popular’ at the time I guess. It wasn’t healthy but it definitely worked to add size.
-Nov 2002 I competed in my 1st show as a novice middleweight at 176 lbs.
-By April of 2003, I had bulked up to a (not pretty) 267lbs.
That is a gross of 91 lb gain in less than 6 months, and here is how it was done;
I ate as much food as I could possibly eat. No diet, anything went. I stuffed my face with as much food as I was able. It wasn’t uncommon for my coworkers to watch me eat a gallon of ice cream per day. Different hamburger helper every night. Mexican is big on the west coast so usually I’d eat a couple burritos as a meal everyday. Ben n Jerry’s every night (before Piana made this famous)...weight gainer shakes, etc etc.
Gym 4 days per week, very low volume, very very heavy compound stuff.
Gear was anadrol, test, eq. No peptides, ai’s, or anything fancy.
I’d consider myself an ectomorph, so for the hard gainers out there having trouble adding size—it can be done. Just gotta eat more.
Happy gains

RustyhookerThe pictures of lee priest come to mind. Then to make stage he cut so hard that he lost much of the mass as well. If i remember right, his onstage weight was up like 3 pounds.
You’re the 1st one to mention this. Great the gross weight was 91lbs, but what was the net stage weight (is the important question we should be asking). About 22lbs.—(198 on stage the following year.)
I remember those muscletech ads with Lee Preist dirty bulking with the beard and fat/hairy. Then he’d diet down to top 6 at the Olympia
RustyhookerAnd he was open enough to point out the health issues he had as well.
That's remarkable to put on that amount of weight but we all do know that's not the healthiest approach but what an experience to share!
Eating like that is what led to CT Fletcher's heart problems, but damn those are some gains
I would recommend that people don't do this. Bulking doesn't mean getting fat. Bulking refers to putting on the most amount of lean body mass in the shortest amount of time in the most efficient way. Irks me when people use the term lean bulk. NO such thing as a lean bulk, a bulk is a bulk it does not mean fat bulk. Bulk properly and you will stay lean. Sorry I digressed.
It looks like things have turned out Ok for you in the long run though.
+2 for bringing up a good topic
Here is a post discussing this dirty bulk concept.

Thank you for agreeing a lean bulk isn’t a Bulk +2
IF there were such a thing as a lean bulk, how would you define this mythical concept?
I ask because saying there’s no such thing as a lean bulk seems to conflict with this:
Pardon my ignorance, but what’s the difference between “lean bulking” and “bulking while staying lean?”
Thanks
Just call it a bulk which means you should be gaining muscle preferentially over fat. Kind of redundant calling it a lean bulk.
A dirty bulk is just an excuse so men can stay fat for 6 months out of the year
Makwa you’re right; I’m not encouraging this approach. It’s unhealthy, I was a novice, it’s all we knew back then. No need to apologize for disagreeing brother.
Now I won’t allow myself to get over 15% off-season.
That’s awesome, but in reality brother that’s the type of stuff is why C.T. Fletcher needs a new heart. He used to eat like that.
Eating clean or mostly clean even if your not a weightlifter on gear, is important for longevity
So basically you just ate like an avg obese person. I’m certain your bodyfat ended up in the 30s. For a power lifter I can see this but it’s bad advice for a bodybuilder. I imagine there were some permanent stretch marks. If you were on gear I’m certain it caused estrogen problems. Not to mention your lipids.
Correct; ate like shit. Definitely not advising this as it isn’t the healthy way to go but it works. BF was high like you said. Huge stretch marks in upper outer pecs to this day that are 3-“ long and 1/2” wide from this bulker
Wow! That’s a hell of an increase, but it’s got to be hard on your body in the long run.
How are you maintaining your gains from this?
It was a long time ago, since my body has a completely different look (for the better).
That is INTENSE. Did you do blood work in that time to see your kidney or liver numbers? I'm curious as to what the strain on your organs was. If you'd share any info from blood work, I know peeps in this community would benefit. Goods, bads, and uglies, please! And thanks for this share. It's extreme, but it shows what is possible.
Unfortunately no. Back then (15 years ago), blood work wasn’t as common then
I can’t recommend this. At some point I think we have to step back and think, “how will this affect my health?” In my opinion—take it or leave it—eating a gallon of ice cream and burritos everyday is as unhealthy in the long run as blasting a half a gram of gear a day. We don’t ever recommend intentionally and grossly overdoing it with steroids; why the double standard with food?
I’m gonna + this though, because even though I disagree with this method, it A) does work and B) opens the door for an interesting discussion.
Thank you for being respectful. Props.
I do not recommend this method either. This was 15 years ago and I was a novice. It did work.
Nowhere did I say blasting half a gram a day. In fact, to grow you don’t need much gear at all. Weekly total may have been 1500mg including the anadrol at 100mg/day. Oils were light. Maybe 600 test 300 eq
To be clear, I didn’t say you in particular were advocating heavy gear usage. It’s just the double standard I’ve seen around here of not taking overeating every bit as seriously as being a health risk as abusing steroids.
