How important is sleep

ad

I'm new to BB and just starting at 31 years old. I have a good diet and work out program. My hardest one to over come is sleeping. I sleep between 4 to 5 hours a night. I started taking peptides hoping I would sleep more. After 2 weeks, It has not helped much. Do you guy's think that not sleeping 8 hours every night is hurting me and Do you think it is that important?

I gained a lot of weight on serequel and it's great for sleeping but very hard to get up in the morning. After I take it, It make me so hungry I empty the fridge and pass out. From what I've been told it lower's your sugar which makes me freaking hungry. I do like it a lot and I feel like a million buck when I get 12hrs later.

It's not just quantity, but quality.

I am starting to wonder if it is poor quality sleep that is responsible for my increasing irritation/anger. I can sleep enough hours, overall, eventually. But the quality is very low. I think its mostly rem and not deeper delta sleep. I am ending my (lengthy) cycle because of this.

most likely yes. your body needs time to recover. i notice a big difference when i only get 7 hours compared to 8, and if i get 10, im a straight beast, but i can never get that much. i feel your pain on this one.

I took a sleeping pill last night seroquel, I slept 12hrs missed an appointment and went to work late. lol.

That's alot more than a sleeping pill. Be careful. Unless you are using it for other reasons than just sleep. I would stick with a pure strong antihistamine, melatonin, or tryptophan.

Well-written and fairly thorough response.

Buttered cigs - ugh! I have read a lot of ambien funny/horror stories but this is a first. The first time I took ambien, I was in bed and started closed-eye tripping. A deparment store became a rainforest jungle and the racks of clothes I was looking at transformed into lush trees and vines that enveloped me. In a pleasant way. Subsewuent doses of ambien and lunesta were fairly humdrum.

If you want a very inexpnsive ource for quetipine, look into Indian pharmacies.

There is one standout possible side-effect that you failed to mention. TD.

It depends a lot on if you feel rested. If you are always dead tired than yes it will affect you greatly. You will not get as good of a workout or have time to recover. If I don't sleep a minimum of 7 hours forget it. But I have noticed after 30 I seem to need a hell of a lot more protein just to maintain muscle let alone make it and yes I do eat a lot for the most part good

I mean to say, How important is 8hrs sleep vs 4hrs sleep, While working out? Could not sleeping 8hrs have a serious impact on my recovery from working out 5 day a week? If so how much would you guys say?

If you're talking about the difference between 7,8, or 9 hours of sleep I believe the science shows that it has more to do with the individual and their particular "genetic" requirements.

If you're literally talking about getting only 4 hours of sleep then I think you are partially sleep deprived and it does seriously affect you, whether you are working out or not.

People who are partially sleep deprived can't even tell how it is affecting their reasoning and motor skills.

Your body releases HGH when you sleep and is more effective in repairing and healing itself. Sleep will improve your immune system and lower your blood pressure as well -important when on cycle.

I started taking ambien because I had trouble falling asleep and remaining asleep. Fifteen minutes after taking it every night I am out and sleep for eight hours without waking. I do not feel sluggish the next day either.

Sleeping as much as needed is important for the test/gh to help repair/increase muscle. I do not think everybody actually needs a set amount of sleep that applies to everyone. Some people will need more sleep while others would need less.

I've been very thin my whole life. I lifted a little in my 20's. I could never break 170lb. I'm 6.0', I'm going back at it, My diet is cleaner now but I would eat like a horse in my 20's and couldn't get big and after a while I quit.. I heard some people say it's important for recovery but I'm lucky if I get 4hrs a night really. I was just wondering if this is hurting me. Like if you workout all day and don't eat. It would be worthless, For gaining weight anyways.

Taking a ZMA before bed on empty stomach might help. Have you always only slept that much? Do you feel tired? Stressed? Some people I know honestly say they only need 5 hours and feel fine, so I'm not quick to say anything, everyone's different. I personally do better on 9.5 hrs. But most nights get about 8.

If your stressed and tired though it will destroy your growth for a number of reasons..
