how are glycogen levels affected

ad

Anyone know how glycogen levels are affected do you still need to stick to that 1 hr workout rule if your high volume training I always tend to go over 1 hr by 30 mins or so

Like gearhead said were all different. Some guys might last for 3 hours, while some only 1 hour. But I've spend alot of time reading about the subject and what alot of the research states is we really overestimate the amount of glycogen we use during a training session, meaning we don't totally deplete it or even come close like alot of us think. The biggest thing with training longer then and hour or hour and a half is the amount of cortisol the body begins to release, and once again were all different and some peoples might be able to train for 2 hours before this begins to happen. Does the body not release cortisol at the same rate while on gear? I don't know, but I always try to keep my training sessions less then 1.5 hours regardless of if I'm on cycle or not.

There isn't a definitive answer to your question. Everyone is different. Lifting depletes your glycogen stores. With a really grueling workout you can really burn through your glycogen stores which is nice because if you then do aerobics after your weight training your body will start burning fat cause glycogen is scarce.

It depends on your goals too tho...refueling post workout could mean more huge carbs or less. I think the most beneficial aspect to think about is pre-workout nutrition, it could mean the difference btwn making or breaking your "activity" for the day. Ever get to the gym a lil late by 'not your own demise', life got in the way and your workout was in the shitter??....too much time btwn last meal and first rep can be crucial!!

Yes I understand maybe limited carbs pow can be good for higher natty GH levels BUT insulin is actually one of the greatest anabolic hormones to recruit in your body...to burn fat AND to add quality mass. If you can master your insulin depending on your diet and carb intake throughout the day then you're in like Flynn brother. That's why I am not so sure about limiting carbs post workout. Debate time sir!!! Lol ;-)
