Friend Requests From???
I've been getting some friend requests from members I've never spoken to, or even seen for that matter. Sometimes, I don't respond for a few days, only to find that person has been banned. Something weird going on. I don't know why these people want to be friends, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with my charm and good looks.
If you legitimately want someone to approve a friend request, post a reply to one of their comments saying you're sending a FR. At least that way, the person accepting will have some idea what's going on.
If i'm sent a FR out of the blue, the first thing I do is go to that person's profile and investigate. How long has that person been a member? Who else are they friends with? Have we been in any of the same SI's or forum discussions? I then "track" their activity. If that person just joined yesterday, and has posted one comment, or one pic, and we have ZERO common forum activity, I'm suspicious.
I encourage other members to do the same. I'm not sure what harm can come from accepting a strange FR, but I'm also not sure why some of the people sending the FR are banned after 24 hours.

rocketballzI do the same thing bro. I think it's either an LE hacker or a hacker in general trying to get access to your info. Why the hell else would someone with 1 karma who joined a day ago FR me? Totally agree with you and everyone should just use common sense. I totallty investigate them too lol
Sometimes it's just new members and they see you are very active on the forums and send you fr and then again you could be right on some of them and I think alot of them are banned member's joining again....hell who knows who anyone is really here....

I know exactly what you mean I get them to and I'm like wtf so I stream them see where there been posting or see how active they are for a couple days.
You know.. the same thing will happen on fb if you think about it man, and in no way am I trying to undermine what you're saying. I really get suspicious on fb because those requests are out of the blue, and ya don't really know the people. On a sight like this though isn't it a little different??? I mean, it's a specialized group and most of us haven't grown up having or knowing 876 "bodybuilders" (who may or may not juice) in our pasts who we'll see on the streets and say to them, "hey, friend me on eroids".... does that make any sense.. I tried to explain it the best way I know how.

I think sometimes Its a post, a comment or thread you started that may have impressed them and they want to be able to message you directly if I'm the future about something. But I agree with what someone said. That if you FR someone it's a good idea to reply to one of their posts and let them know your sending a FR. This way it doesn't leave the person wondering where you came from.
I usually will check out the persons profile first before accepting a FR. We have to stay safe and be pretty certain that it's a "real" mber. And not LE trying to gradually gain your trust untill slip and say or do something that could reveal your true identity.
I declined a few of them the other day. Brand new members that signed up and didn't have any posts. I waited a few days so see if they were posting anything and nothing, so I declined them.

I used to look them over really well but now with the tag we pretty much accept them all, even if most of the time it is just to complain about me flagging their review.

I suspected I wasn't the only one dealing with this issue. I'm curious as to what these people hope to gain by sending the FR. It's not like it allows them any more access to me, I think. I appreciate everyone's comments.
Hitman187Good info. Ive been having this same problem going on a while now. I basically do the same as you investigation wise, i check out there page first to look at there activity and etc... if theres not much to go on i dont accept rite away. I'll check back in a few days and usually most the accounts have been banned by that time.
