I've been contaminated with what us Brits call "a lurgy", some cold / cough / man flu virus BS. Been coughing my guys up for about 6 weeks if I'm honest, but all of a sudden got a lot worse a few days ago, fever, coughing up blood etc. after considerable nagging from the wife, I reluctantly agreed to go to the docs yesterday morning.
She listens to my chest, gives me a form for the local hospital for a chest x-ray. "When do I need to go?", (I've got stuff to do, like gym). Answer "right now". So being the type I am, I went to the gym and then to work. "I'll go tomorrow, or maybe Wednesday".
After what can only be called a verbal battering from the wife last night when I accidentally left the form in a visible place, It was decided (dictated) that I should go today. I managed to think up some excuses, but I didn't fancy the spare room so reluctantly I went......
Cut a long story short, I've just had a load of antibiotics as I've got bloody pneumonia. Apparently there's a viral strain floating around here that 50+ people have been treated for. I'm now here for a few days, (although I DO NOT like hospitals and escaping is looking like a genuine possibility. I'll stay tonight but unless I'm dying I'm out of here tomorrow.
According to the doc, another week and I would have been very unwell. Not feeling great, just feels like flu with a bad chest infection. I've been a bit stupid not going sooner in retrospect. Lesson learnt!

I just got over the same thing. Went to the doctors after 4 straight days of a 105+ Temperature. Missed over a week of gym time :(

Rest, done enough of that! Gone back to work this morning, (although working from home to avoid contaminating everyone).
The more important question is when will I be back in the gym?
By means of an update, I'm now out from hospital on my way home to empty the fridge. The wife isn't taking to me as I, and I quote, "am a bloody idiot" for discharging myself.
Looks like I'm in the spare room tonight, (she's really not happy),but hey. Still better than poxy hospital, at least I can eat properly.
You know it is only because she cares, you'll have to give her a pass on this one.
We men are some stubborn creatures aren't we? I hope this clears up for you!

I'm out of here tonight even if it's out of the window! Ain't no way in staying another night here, it's like the nhs version of Fawlty Towers. I've had two antibiotic shots now, got oral antibiotics to take and need another shot Friday apparently so they've done what they need to. I'm not feeling too bad so I'm discharging myself, (despite what the mrs says). I'll recover quicker at home, not to mention I HATE hospitals. I don't like being surrounded by ill people ;)
On a brighter note I had some beautiful young nurse taking my blood pressure saying "wow, aren't your arms big"..... She got all flushed and embarrassed trying to put the cuff around my arm.
8008135Nah nothing serious, I wouldn't even be in hospital if I hadn't of passed out in place where there was many other people around. I was stupid enough to blast HGH at a very high dosage and my BP got very high, I just ignored it and I ignored all the signs of blood pressure being too high. On my 6th day of the last I went to the gym as usual and started lifting weights and I all of sudden got loads of blood pouring out of my nose, I couldn't see anything, anything was very blurry and I dropped the weights and passed out. Unfortunately there was other people around and they called an ambulance and that's how I ended up in this crappy place.
I hate hospitals as well, I wouldn't have bothered going if I had passed out at home but it's my luck that it was in a place like a gym.
At least you have a young nurse, I'm surrounded by these elderly grumpy women. I'm not staying here another night as well bro, it's crap. These mofo's keep trying to convince me not to leave, but I've had enough of this shit, I want out of here lol.
Fortunately I don't have to worry about the mrs as I no longer have one

Ah the hottie nurses. I had an experience with one. I was having a minor procedure done. It was end of summer and I had just got back from the beach and had been training my ass off so I was in decent shape. The nurse was a brunette about 5'4" very attractive. She was taking my vitals then handed me a gown to put on, and then stepped out and pulled the curtain. I was trying to put my gown on and realized the ties at the top were missing. So I said "miss I think I need a new gown" she said ok let me go get one. When she returned I thought she would just hand it over the curtain. Nope she opened the curtain and here I am naked with a half chub because I had dirty thoughts going through my head. She looked me up and down and gave me a rye smile and handed me my gown. I put it on and hopped on the bed before I popped a big one.
Now the irony of this story is that my procedure just happened to be my vasectomy that DID NOT work and resulted in our third child. I'm pretty sure I was being punished for having lustful thoughts. lol

I'm ok mate, have to admit feeling a bit rougher today. Bored and hungry but the mrs will be here soon with some proper food. Lunch was vegetarian can you believe? I've got meat withdrawal symptoms
I've told her they're trying to finish me off by malnourishment.......

Lol, a couple of months back they had to tell my wife that I was dying so I'd stay for a couple of days. Lol. I wasn't buying that shit. But the wifey sure as hell did.

All good mate, I'll be fine. Had a truck load of amoxyclav which should kick off getting rid of the infection. As long as I'm ok by the 16th April, (I'm off on holiday), then I'm happy.

It went thru my part of the world late last fall. I lost count of how many people I personally know that caught it, including me.
get better Bro, my wife went to Florida last year and I stayed home. She caught the nola Virus and it did not affect her; she gave it to me. She dragged me to the hospital since I'm a stubborn bastard and that's where I found out I had the virus. It's fair to say if she did not get me there I could have died from my stubborn ass. Your health is nothing to just sweep under the rug so let that be a lesson to you

i had a friend die of this in 2008, it gets bad, she ended up in an induced koma and never came back, she was asthmatic also wich made it worse, puffers and nebulisers masked symptoms went on for a week or so one day she couldnt breath i floored her to the er she got air lifted to a bigger hospital where she died 11 days later on my bday, i did not leave her side....... she could of seen a dr earlier and still been alive. good post brother

all good ive dealt with it. her brother killed him self 6 months later depression and drug and alcohol. casper died of pnemonia too, hate that movie now.

Awesome! Your wife sounds just like mine! What would we do if we didnt have those caring little ladies to bully us in the right direction? I mean, our attitude more often than not is "rub some dirt on it". Especially those of us who have trained for long periods of time and had to train through pain.
Rest up sdm. Listen to the ladies and heal up. Your training will be better for it in the long run. And I hope you get out of that hospital soon! Freakin house of death!!
See I'm one of those annoying people that's very good at telling everyone else to look after themselves yet ignore my own advice, kind of a racist dictator type lol. I spent 3 years in and out of surgery from 29-32 being pieced back together after a bike accident and I just can't stand hospitals nowadays, I think I overdosed on them!

I can dig it. I walked by a hospital once and that was enough for me. They tried to kill me in one the day I was born and I havent been back.
