+ 2 Anti-depressants while on gear..Good or bad?

ad

I am about to be put on Zoloft 50mg everyday. I do get a little depressed sometimes depending on the cycle. I also get anxiety. Who has exp. with this? This thread is mainly for depression on or off cycle and how we can combat it safely. Wether we want to believe it or not. What goes up must come down. How far down I don't know. I do not see a lot of articles on this so lets get it in.

kodiakGRRL's picture

depression is classified as a mental illness or mental health issue whatever you may or may not want to call it .. there are always varying degrees of it ..

we all get depressed it is a normal part of the life cycle .. most of the time people are not prescribed medication for situational depression ..

just because you are depressed doesn't mean a person is suicidal ..

Im on celexa for anxiety for 5 yrs i take it at night before bed so energy not an issue ..i always feel if you can get away with no meds the better but if this is something that's on going and making you miserable than take the meds and get on with life...most side effects like tiredness and stuff like that will go after you get used to the medication...but even with meds you still need to work on any underlying issues that are causing this ...meaning even if you have a chem imbalance usually there is something that triggered your body to get all out of whack in the first place ...so medication plus counseling, prayer, support groups, obviously im sure your doc should have done blood work to chk any other health issues mine did any way good luck i hope any if this helps..my anxiety was so severe it was almost paralyzing now its pretty much gone

coolcat's picture

i would personally not take them they make me feel worse from my own experience taurine can help so can st johns wart also fish oil omega 3 can kinda help.there is no quick fix but finding a hobby thats relaxing and putting you in a better place and keeping from over thinking things messes with your mind and can make matters so much worse. Depression is horrible but you can climb out of it its all in your head you and you alone can pull through as hard as it maybe it is not impossible all the luck and keep your chin up life is short think of the good times and forget about the bad move forward and leave the past where it belongs you have a lot of living and happy times ahead i have no doubt

cturtle46's picture

The only anti-depressant that doesn't put me to sleep is Prozac and only at a low dose, 10 mg sometimes less. I take it mainly for stress/anxiety - 12 weeks, then take a break. It takes the edge off. As for depression after finishing a cycle, I find l-tyrosine 500-1500 mg/day perks me up.

Antidepressants are just a bad idea overall. Potential side effects far outweigh any benefits.

kibby's picture

Disagree there buddy! Depression /anxiety can destroy your life entirely when you can't even bring yourself to get out of bed on a morning and go to work or even interact with your own family you will take anything to feel normal. Depression /anxiety is an illness and 99% of the time can't be overcome without medication the benifit of getting your life back outweighs any side effects they can through at you

99% of the time can't be overcome without medication

I d LOVE to know where you got that statistic from ... did you know that being midly or even moderately depressed is part of the cycle of living and that everyone experiences depression at one time or another.. it is called LIVING... and it is normal

dudebro's picture

Exactly! People shouldn't take pills to make them feel better when their life is shitty. They should do something to make their life better.

kibby's picture

That's the problem Bro my life wasn't shitty I had no reason what so ever to feel depressed I had /have everything I need in life I consider myself very lucky.
I don't doubt that people get down but I'm talking about depression a chemical imbalance in the brain that's true depression and once you have that imbalance it's a very slippery slope

kibby's picture

That statistic came from my doctor those were her exact words and I know from first hand experience and 4 years of trying to overcome it without medication and after 4 years I finaly gave in and got medical help.
And my depression was not "normal" I've felt normal for most of my life and this wasn't

kodiakGRRL's picture

well your doctor needs to check her facts because they are a bit .... off. I m not saying you didn't need medication and depression is normal it is part of life and many people rush off to take a pill before trying to work through things ... I did not refer to your particular situation at all in my response i was making general statements of fact. I am glad you got help .. the fact is that only major depression is truly treatable with medications .. multiple studies have shown this to be true and big pharma has supressed them and insurance companies have pushed doctors into prescribing medication that they have no business prescribing ... that should be left to specialists not general practitioners.

dudebro's picture

Did you know that lots of psychiatrists get kickbacks from drug companies to push their products?

kodiakGRRL's picture

a large majority of the prescribing doctors are general practioners not psychiatrists and from kibbys response he does not know the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist

kibby's picture

I wouldn't know pal I've never seen one I have plenty of friends and family to talk to

True and most people have the coping skills to get through it. some do not and only see hopelessness.

some do and some dont' .. so you take some meds and figure it out but the meds ultimately make the depression worse you can't rely on a pill all the time because shit happens and you may not always get to have the pill ....

You are big on this subject. Are you in recover?

I have used zoloft before. 50mg/d is a high dose to start out with in my opinion, but it does have a therapeutic effect around that dose and frequency, too.100mg would have me speedin kinda! Never went up above that!
I took it for about 2yrs on and off. I had some Altruline from mexico that was some good powder in capsules...

I get anxiety and hereditary depression. Many antidepressants will make you tired to be honest with you. The best thing to do is to be upfront with your doctor don't need to see necessarily go into steroid use although in this case I would, but you do need to tell him that you need energy to train (natural antidepressant) and energy around the house for work and family etc. I get anxiety and I would avoid trenbolone and eq if it was me. Bearing in mind you did ask for experience not Google search lol if I could run indefinitely I would use Dianabol as it affects the serotonin levels in the brain, but I would not advised anyone runs orals for any length of time. I take it the doctor has checked hormone levels etc as low testosterone is a major cause of depression. From experience also I can tell you that if other issues are causing problems and you've been through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and counseling etc etc and found that they didn't work then don't give up on those as what made me turn the corner was actually hypnotherapy. Mainly I no longer have to take anything medically I just need to speak to particular people that I know and trust about issues. All the best

TheFlash85's picture

depending on what you take, with tren you might go a bit loopy with anxiety due to over stimulation of central nervous system mixed in with the zoloft fucking with similar nerve/ nuero transmitters etc.

if on orals, get bloods because zoloft fucks your liver and kidneys.

50 mgs is nothing, ive been on zolies @ 200mgs a day.

i dont agree with medication unless you have had actual teststing done that prooves you have a chemical imbalance in your brain- thats all zoloft does, balances out the seratonin levels.

get a 3 way with 2 hot chix going on mate, get one too suck you off and the other to lick your ass, if that doesnt get you smiling and walking round happy the next day, maybe get on meds.

good luck.

shawn0712's picture

Might have to test out that treatment option.... Natural remedies are always the best....

konig's picture

I would look into your off cycle test levels first.. Like grrl said.. Then try trt + proviron if your t is low to begin with. From what I know about you Zoloft sounds like a good idea although I don't condone any kind of meds like that whatsoever. After you are good with your meds or trt etc stick with easy test cycles and don't go overboard.

I've been taking welbutrin 150 mg 2 times per day. I Can't function without it. Depression mood swings and suicide thoughts. Trust me if you need it you need it.

My first cycle I got the feel good feeling and thought I didn't need it so I quit taking it. BAD IDEA. Pct comes up and I figure I'll start it up and it'll be just like normal. WRONG. Fell deeper into depression. Lucky for me my family is my rock and I leaned on them. With a lot of help from some people on here I got it situated.

My ultimate advice is if you're prescribed it take it all the time whether you're on aas or not. Your mental well being is ultimately more important than any cycle.

Ok. That's some solid exp. thanks.

I'm on here almost every day. Hit me up in pm if you ever need to chat. This stuff is not something to ever be ashamed of. If I can only do one thing on this board its to make sure this type of situation never goes unnoticed.

Hey House. I have been on Lexapro for 10 years and before that Paxil. I have had ongoing neck issues for 10 years that would give me terrible anxiety. The Drs. thought I was crazy cause they couldn't find anything wrong with me so they put me on an AD. Turns out it actually helped my neck and anxiety. Over time the AD's have lost there affect in controlling all my symptoms and now I probably take a Benzodiazepine "Ativan" or "Xanax" every other day to help relieve my neck symptoms. Back to your question, I have never taken Zoloft but it is an SSRI just like my Lexapro I take. I have run many cycles in the past 10 years and have had no issues with AD and any Kind or Gear, even Tren. If you are going to start taking it you will need to give your body several weeks to get used to the drug. It might make you feel different for the first few weeks then your body will adapt to the drug and it will do its job. Definitely do not start taking Zoloft and start a cycle at the same time. Like a said before give you body time to adjust to the medicine, more importantly your brain time to adjust since that is where the drug Is working. I don't know whats going on in your life and am in no way telling you to take Zoloft was just telling you my experience with AD's and Gear. Hope this helps ease your fears if you do decide to take the Med. Good Luck

vhman's picture

Not a fan of anti-depressants. They basically put you in a zombie mode. Don't feel happy or sad, you just are there. I wouldn't jump on anything like that for getting "a little depressed sometimes depending on the cycle." I would explore every option before jumping on, especially your thyroid.

House's picture

I guess its not a little. Its been bad. Very hopeless and dark. feeling like crying and shit. This is while off cycle. I will be on cycle again and I am about to start the Zoloft so I wanted to hear peoples exp on it.

Keep your head up as best you can, as others have said if you need it you need it. When I left the Marines they tried putting me on AD I was on gear for almost 6 years straight and messed up my hpta for life now. That's in another thread though. They put me in a bad place bro. I'd rather feel then feel nothing at all. They made me absolutely not give a flying fuck about anything. Like some one glances what's your problem and go towards them regardless of size, or idk its hard to describe I didn't care about consequences or what happened to me or anyone else. I didn't care about my gf or having sex or anything. Like vman says they literally made me a zombie that didn't give a shit about anything that happened in life good or bad. You could tell me my parents died and I'd probably show no emotional or turn into the hulk full or rage on a warpath. Not the normal emotional response They put me in a much worse place. When I finally stopped I came back eventually to how I was before. I'd rather deal with the PTSD and flashbacks then ever touch that stuff ever again. But on the other hand I have Marine Brothers it seems to do fine for and help them out. Thry just arnt for me i know that now.But Marines generally are crazy to begin with and have the highest suicide rate of all the branches combined. If it comes to feeling like your going to hurt yourself or someone its definitely better to take the Zoloft. But I would see if a therapist and/or a sponsor could help you. I've dealt with addiction bro from the pain I'm in. Sometimes just getting everything off your mind helpsnso much even if the other person just let's you ramble for a couple hours.

House's picture

Yeah a sponsor Smile I forgot about those but I don't talk about gear in the rooms and a lot of people in my area wont discuss AD. I had 9 yrs clean. relapsed 2 yrs ago and lost everything over the 2 yrs that is what has lead to my depression. I saw no hope and could not climb out of it. I kept using to cover it up and we know that does not work. I am going with the flow this time like I did when I had started my 9 yrs. I am letting other people who got my best intrest at heart steer me.

trainforgain's picture

I'm not a Dr bud but it seems like its life factors bringing you down. And the 9 years clean you were fairly happy? Its normal to be down when shit goes bad especially if you lose everything you have. Who wouldn't be depressed about that bro. See I went to different meetings, in some I mentioned previous gear use and the alcohol rooms I didn't mention it but still mentioned the other narcotics. The one I went to is ok with drug talk as long as it doesn't go overboard. Because in my small town only two na meetings a month unless you drive like 40 miles. In the end you know your body and self and if its that bad and no other measures work you have the Zoloft. I compare it to how people give advice on gear, get a good base naturally first before introducing the chemicals. They will always be there if/when you need them. Rebuilding from scratch takes time, hard and grueling with setbacks. I had to change my phone number twice and move to get all the bad people for me out my life.

right on.

just curious what are your test levels when you are off cycle?

see doctors like to prescribe anti depressants when the issue is really hormone related so if your depressive symptoms are alleviated by being on cycle I suggest that you try something else. anti depressants unless they are used for severe depression actually make depression worse over the long term ... increasing the depressive state length of time and symptoms ..and frequency of occurrence

boostedsilvia's picture

I'm with GRRL on this, test levels. free and total

vhman's picture

If it's serious and a doctor prescribes it, then give it a shot, but like I said, it's usually a bit of a zombie feeling. You're not happy or sad, just there. That may be better than "very hopeless and dark", but it's not sunshine and happiness. Try it out for a while, but I would look for an exit strategy after a while.

juiceball8082's picture

I would definitely stay away from tren!

House's picture

I do normally. To many sides. I do sometimes run small doses along side EQ. Now I have never really been on anti depressants but for a month. I was smiling and feeling really good and I was taking deca and sus. I fealt good and stopped the Zoloft and after 2 weeks was miserable. This is not from the gear but my life had fallen apart from bad decisions and I lost hope of getting it back together.

sounds like you'd be better off talking to someone rather than popping a pill ...

fyi anti depressants take 5-6 weeks to come into effect so what you felt was placebo

It was a month in rehab and a couple weeks on the street. Trust me i am with you. I believe I did not need it so I stopped and that is when I knew it was working.
