Ambitious bodybuilders looking for coaches

ad

I wanted to start this thread to help some other aspiring bodybuilders (like myself) in how to find a good coach. I've gotten a few pms from members asking for a good coach and pretty much asking to be recommended to a good coach. No disrespect to those members I just want to send a message here.

I recently was picked up by a coach from Australia who happened to be in my local area at my gym. He was very personal with the great Ronnie Coleman, lee priest Nassar el sombaty, pretty much trained with, went to dinner with all the great 90's bodybuilders. How did I find this coach? I didn't. HE FOUND ME. He watched me struggle and fail for about a year before approaching me to see if I had heart. He also sees my passion for the art of bodybuilding as many members who know me on this site have also found especially if you pm me and so he doesn't charge me a penny and instead we feed off each other's love for the art and sport. This is the difference between "bodybuilders" begging for a coach and "bodybuilders" living and fighting for a good coach. The reason I put bodybuilders in quotes is because everyone who does a show thinks there a bodybuilder but passion, taking action, constantly improving, training hard, these qualities mold a real bodybuilder. I'm not going to disclose name of my coach but I'll say that hard work, persistence, passion and believing in yourself will pay off as it did for me SO FAR. Now I'm still an amateur and haven't even won my first local show yet but I am 7 weeks out now and I've never been in such good shape for a show. I feel like I'm on the right path and can help some of the guys who also think they've got what it takes to keep on going. Check out some of my pics for some comparison shots.

My point is if you want a good coach work your ass off eat your face off, grow, live, learn and face challenges head on and a great coach or someone who knows a great coach will find you. If you haven't been noticed yet it's because you need to work harder, grow and mature. As Jason huh says there are lions and lambs. Lambs take the easy route by trying to go around all these challenges and hardships and struggles but those are the experiences that make champions and you learn invaluable things from them mentally and physically. The lions are the ones willing to struggle and blow those challenges out of the water face first, show the world how bad you want it. If you want a good coach be patient, enjoy the process and passion of bodybuilding and a great coach will find you.

I've found that many looking for a good coach haven't been told they really don't have the genetics , the same guys saying i need a good coach are the same guys who think pros are pros simply because of drugs and the coaches. I never used a coach and did just well , my wife used coaches and did ok but is doing a hell of a lot better without one. My point being not all bodybuilders need a coach , many top pros do not use coaches , many up and coming guys who got their pro cards haven't used a coach. I think too many people have emphasized coaches , and i also think there are many low level coaches out there that don't know shit did one or two shows , didn't win either but now they are the new contest prep guru. If more people read a few diet books, talked to a few guys who brought insane conditioning to the stage , and maybe take nutrition course or two , figured out how their bodies react to certain foods , how certain foods manipulate your metabolism and body they wouldn't need a coach just a few trial runs. Believe me there is nothing better than getting to the top and having yourself to thank , not some coach behind you trying to steal your glory saying me me me i brought him/her in like this as they are trying to pull in more clients I've seen it many of times. If you have what it takes and you have the skill and genetics your absolutely right the right coach will find you, but be i tell many be careful because remember you are not guaranteed to win just cause you have a coach but that coach is guaranteed to get paid win or lose.

Right all good points! If you can do it yorself by all means go for it. And yes exactly, the drugs are a "supplement" and such a small part of bodybuilding but yet those are always the pms I get. "Bro what is your cycle like". "How much test are you running" the questions that should be asked are how much are you eating? How hard are you training. People don't understand the MENTAL part of bodybuilding pushing every day grinding every day. Being satisfied with never being satisfied.

I told myself I would never pay for a coach because of that reason that you said how a lot of coaches don't know what the fuck they're doing but still get paid. It's rare that you come across a coach not asking for money but offering his help because he sees potential in you. That's what makes a great coach. Not asking for anything in return except for you absolute best effort.

Too many emphasize the drugs , when without proper nutrition the drugs are utilized as well. You can tell who puts in work in the kitchen from those who put too much work in the pin. There are gym rats and there are bodybuilders, a gym rat likes the edge and does what he can and doesn't care as much, the bodybuilder eats, sleeps and shits bodybuilding, when they're not in the gym they're thinking about the next session trying to figure out how they can get the most out of it, constantly on top of their nutrition trying to get as much as everything as they can. A bodybuilder is planning for the future breaks every step down as much as he or she can. Its not as many think "picking things up and putting them down" there is much more to it, the dedication and determination come from within, they had a great base way before the drugs.

There are good coaches out there, but they have a track record of bringing many in at their peak, also bringing themselves in perfect. Potential can be spotted from across the room bro , just as it can be spotted from across the keyboard as it takes a certain mindset to do it.
