Advice regarding a cycle prior to hip replacement

ad

Sup Roiders,
Been a while since I've posted. Had our second baby girl recently in a foreign country so life's been a little crazy.

I finally got my hip checked out and I'm up for a hip resurfacing procedure sometime this year (probably August 2013. I've worn my left hip into the ground with basketball (20+ years).

Hip resurfacing is not a total hip replacement but it is close. If anyone has experience with this do let me know interested to find out some experiences. My hope is to return to an active and sporty lifestyle in my early to mid 30s.

I'm up for my second cycle (once a year only for me). I am preparing my body for a cycle that should start around 9 weeks from today (need to drop body fat and get to a 'natural' goal first. My cycle plan is still in the works but it is a Test E (weeks 1-16) + Equipoise cycle (Weeks 1-14) + PCT (and Aromasin EOD on-cycle), from a first high level stab.

But with just major surgery coming up, I wanted to know what people's advice are for being on cycle or 'just-off' cycle prior to such a major operation?

I understand the cleaner my body and blood is the better it is for the surgeon's work, but I also want to be in peak physical condition to allow for a speedier recovery. I also have goals this year that I don't want to put on hold because after hip recon I will only fall behind the 8-ball because I'll be in crutches for a while and then limited in activity.

Your advice is welcome:
1. Postpone the cycle altogether for next year post-op?
2. Time the cycle to end within a safe period off-cycle prior to surgery (1 month I am assuming is safe, I have no idea looking for help)?

Obviously being ON-CYCLE during surgery has too many unknowns. I won't risk it. Unless someone has a different experience.

Thanks!

I'm in a similar situation- although not for a hip. From a practical side you stand to lose a lot of hard-earned gains and spent gear doing a cycle before your operation and then being in rehab mode/ out of commission from dedicated training while recovering. It depends on exactly what timeframe and degree of incapacity you and your doctor expect to decide in your case the best course. I cant post any data to prove it but steroids are hard on the body and its probably better they are well out of your system for optimal recuperation IMO.

I have no experience in this realm but conventional wisdom would probably dictate to postpone the cycle all together until you're fully recovered. With your wanting to be in peak physical shape, I see it as a risk vs reward scenario and I think the risk outweighs the reward. Someone may correct me and I may be wrong but these are just my viewpoints.
