accutane the cure?

ad

lets start with this, yes accutane is very dangerous, and should only be used with severe acne after every other remedy has been tried. truth. this is more for research value.

accutane is marketed as the cure to acne. its supposed to permanently kill the bacteria that causes acne. but as a guru here pointed out to me, while on cycle, acne is caused by in balances of hormone levels, not bacteria. so will accutance actually work? i know you can take it on cycle to prevent acne, but has anyone ever done a complete treatment and been cured for life? even on cycle.

anyone have experience with taking this at the end of a cycle? around week 8/9 my back exploded with acne and nothing i've tried so far has worked. will a low dose (20mg ED, 40mg frontload) be effective at the end of a cycle at removing the bacne? thanks.

as others have said, it does NOT kill bacteria but reduces oil gland output. I have cycled it about a dozen or so times while on heavy cycle to keep bacne under control, BUT ONLY at a low dose or an "as needed" basis (as I don't have any acne problems normally).

It's been quite a few years since I've used it, but i do believe I took about 10mg eod for about 4 or 5wks at the cycle mid-point, just to offset my bacne. Front loaded at 20mg for about 5 days or so to get it drying me out quick.

It worked wonders at controlling cycle induced oily shoulders/back that I would get. You have to be SUPER careful on the dosing though, it can dry the shit outta your skin, give some unpleasant side effects and cause some major liver malfunction.

LIVER TOXIC!!! That shit will DESTROY your liver faster than any oral steriod out there. That's why the doc will not prescribe w/out prelim bloodwork to see if you have any issues.

The liver issue is prob the only reason that I don't use it anymore during blast cycles. It's just too harsh of a drug to use on a reg basis.

Long story short... (all from my personal experience)
it works very well at drying up any and all testo induced breakouts.
It's EXTREMELY harsh on your liver!!!
It WILL control severe acne on hardcore high dose cycles very easily.
IT WILL NOT control acne for the rest of your life after you discontinue useage (as I've seen alot of people claim).

I took it when I was 16 and have not had acne since. Last year I did my first cycle and the acne came back. I went to dermatologist and he prescribed accutane. Within a week my acne started to clear up. If I recall the drug actually works to dry out your oil glands. It is dangerous. Mainly because it causes birth defects if someone gets pregnant while you are on it. If you get a script from a doc they require you to go though this short book explaining the detail.
However my dermatologist told me it is a great drug that has a bad rap. He said that he has no problems prescribing to anyone for acne as long as they are aware of the effects on unborn children.
As far as side effects the worst was the sensitivity to sunlight and dry skin and lips.
For me it has been a wonder drug...

I stopped taking accutane like 2 weeks ago . And I just started a cycle 2 days ago have no oil whatsoever but I might expect a few breakouts during cycle and worst post. If I see oil start back up ill run a very low dosage and yes it's very harsh on the body.

Hello ruski,

Accutane is not an antibiotic and thus will not kill bacteria. Accutane is a super high dosage of vitamin A. The targeted effect of this is that your sebum glands halt production of oil. Oil causes the pour to become clogged and get junked up with dirt and bacteria. While sebum production is suspended, the gland begins to shrink. After the Accutane course is complete, the glands start back up but produce less oil.

With that said, your eyes, nose, lips and skin will become severely dry and irritated. You will need to carry eye drops and chapstick at all times. If you do get accutane, do not exceed 40mg daily. I took this for 4 months for severe comodone acne and have not had a big zit since. It has been over 2 years since my course, and i have run two cycles with little to no acne.

I also used it. Did this drug affected your stomach?

kojowo's picture

I was lucky to not get any intestinal diseases from it, but that is highly common. They wanted to bump me to 80mg and I refused.

ruski's picture

i gota find a dr to put me on. the one i asked said no. i can get the shit myself, but im not running something that serious without a dr. i have mild acne. 10-20mg ed should do it.

TED's picture

yea man definitely get a dr who will give it to you. especially since you need to run bloods consistently while on it
