Accutane
ad
Anyone have any experience using Accutane? I recently started breaking out and I'm trying to get it under control. I've done some research and I'm aware it's hard on the liver and such. However I'm on low dose test right now and before I go back into another cycle I'd like to get this acne under control. If you have experience with this can you let me know what dose you took, for how long, your source, results, and any side effects you may have encountered?

Groom yourself bro. But seriously try seeing how your showering might be affecting your skin. If I use a certain soap or have too hot of a shower then I end up with shit skin. Accutane is harsh af, dries your skin out hard and it is liver toxic. Also if the shower stuff doesn't work then go get bloods done (which you should be doing) and see if everything is where it should be. While it might just be a result of the test and increased DHT levels, it could be something else you're unaware of
clear your acne up before you touch gear again. just pct or cruise until that shit is under control. Accutane is fine unless your liver is already fucked
Imo the dangers are really overrated, unless u have a serious messed up liver, i tried it before, at 40mg a day for months, started at 20 ans worked my way up, the only damn side beside from a little elevated liver values is the fking dryness.. my lips, my head, everything, even joints dry which affected my training a bit.. i had to stop due to this side effect only.. it did help a ittle but not much.
Theres this shampoo called nizoral, use it 3 times week, let it work for 10 mins and then wash it, results are within the first week! this is 10x more effective than accutane imo
NotNatural23One thing you need to do is find out what kind of acne it is? Is it cystic acne or is caused by ingrown hair follicles. Then you can figure out a treatment. If you go to a dermatologist don't take antibiotics orally until you try everything else. Some forms it doesn't do a dam thing others unfortunately you might need it. But first I would get bloods to see if you can figure it out that way. But Benzoyl Peroxide works great if used correctly.it Most dermatologist recommend it and to wash face with it and leave on 5 mins up to 3 times a day unless your face gets to dry.And pick a towel you don't care about because it will ruin them if it gets on any fabrics.
No to Accutane unless it's an unbelievable situation. Way too many harsh sides. You use a brief regimen of antibiotics for some fast temporary relief. But they have sides as well. Though not nearly as bad as Accutane.
Bro that drug is not good. Ya it clears you up, but can jack you up. I was prescribed it when I was a teenager. Definitely don’t use if you and the misses are trying for kids.
I don’t want to sound rude but.. I’m guessing you take testosterone and other products?? They do cause you to break out..
So, why don’t you stop or lower your dose? I’m not a doctor, but I bet I could pin point where your acne is coming from.. IMO.
But I would definitely get bloodwork and see what is off. You just might be prone to really oily skin. I get it on my back.. along with one or two on my face during cycles.
Good luck bro.
A HUGE WORD OF CAUTION - NO PREGNANCIES
When my doc wanted to put me on it, I had to read a pamphlet and sign all these forms saying I would wear a condom and use birth control and shit, and if I did get someone pregnant that we would abort it. If you OR the girl are on Accutane the baby can come out real fucked up... so DO NOT take it if you plan on having a kid, or if you’re irresponsible and won’t use birth control.
My fiancé and I don’t want kids and she’s on the pill so it’s not a problem for us... but even with her on the pill I still pull out if I’m on Accutane for the extra layer of caution. I also don’t use orals while on it unless my liver values are in mid-normal range.
I ended up doing low dose myself since my dermatologist wanted to put me on 120mg for 6 months like maddogg’s and I thought that was lunacy.
But for serious. That shit is no joke. Try to avoid it. and DO NOT get anyone pregnant.
Try differin Gel. It’s a retinoid like Accutane but it’s topical and doesn’t wreak havac on your whole system.
Molinin302It’s something not a lot of people know if they hop on it without a dr supervision... really should be put out there more. If I was a source I’d put it in the product page...
Molinin302I had no idea, when I was in the clinical aspect, as well as management now, I've pretty much only been hands on with the elderly. This is extremely valuable information man, makes you wonder how many other medications have peculiar sides and mechanisms that are buried in the fine print. (Too many.)
My dermatologist had me on it in my early 20s. I had a type of acne related to testosterone and scent sacks. He had me on 120 mg a day for 6 months and it didn’t really work for what I had. He had me on a 50% higher dose than the high dose recommendation and he had me on it for 6 months instead of 4. By the end of it, it took me about an hour and a half to stand fully upright in the morning my lower back got so stiff and my shoulders absolutely killed me benching. Very ruff on my joints and made me red in the face and itchy if I would exercise and sweat. Never again for me.
Molinin302I get it too, without my estro being too high. Had it bad as a teenager. I'd approach it by treating the skin itself, my wife has had skin issues, it it's bad I use cortizone cream, for mild to medium I use her neutragena t/sal shampoo. (That probably isn't the exact three letters but Google will set you right). They make a gel also but it's stronger. It works for me, helps prevent the cystic infection from the oils that you're producing. Wouldn't recommend it if it didn't help me.
Before many years I had bad acne at my back. I went to my doctor for help. First I get Benzoylperoxid but it works not very good. Than I get accutane (Isotretinoin) and it works great. I start with 60mg/day after 7 days reduce to 20mg/day. After a few weeks I had not even one spot at my body. Best skin of my life. The one and only bad thing, dry dry lips!
I can’t speak on accutane as I’ve stayed clear of it myself. Have you got bloods to see if maybe estro is high?
You could try African black soap and tanning (don’t use fucking tan lotions though lol) it works for me when I break out a little.
If it’s really bad I don’t blame you for looking into accutane but it wouldn’t hurt to try the African black soap n tanning to dry it out n clear it up!
Zero percent toxic lol
Good luck
Don't care about your liver! If you don't run more than 80mg daily no need to worry. The real bad side effects are dry skin, super fast sunburn, very dry lips and after a few weeks u start to see very bad, feels a bit like that u need suddenly glasses to see objects sharply. But bloods are although a must if u run Iso. If u have acne or feel that you get a very oily skin, Iso. is a great product to prevent acne or heal it. If you see that u have already acne ask your doc thst he prescribes u a few packs, don't use antibiotcs against acne, they don't work.
NotNatural23Antibiotics can help but it depends on what kind of acne but I would suggest trying other things before using antibiotics. But if it is steroid induced acne then antibiotics will not help. The reason Accutane works is it stops exactly what steroids do to your skin. You produce alot more oil and sebum on AAS and test and Accutane stops that. AlSO LOOK UP Vit B5 it has been shown to work and there are some protocols that many users swear by. This one protocol was written by a guy who uses AAS. I tried it and it helped but the dose was pretty high for the B5. Pretty sure there was Zinc and a few other supps I took with it.
If I get acne I'm doing something wrong. Everyone is different though. How long have you been on this low dose? Self prescribed? Bloods? Missing pin days? Properly dosed AI? Pharma?
I would look to whats causing it before I jumped on Accutane.
Get a good face wash. Toner. no homo. OTC acne cream.
Don't reuse washcloth and towels.
Cut sodas and sugars. Drink plenty of water. A little sun or sun bed.
"If I get acne I'm doing something wrong."
Not always mate , I got it when I was off and had really all values in range, but yes it could be a sign of a too high E2 level or to high dosage...or if u don't tolerate androgen steroids you can get it drastically.
No not always but with guys here doing what we do and him having just adjusted test dose it was my first thought.
I get what your saying it does happen. Had it bad as a teen and was on Accutane. Don't Think they knew 20 plus years ago How bad it was. Don't remember taking bloods while on it. I do remember the very dry lips almost painful. Worse if you are on it in the hotter months. Important to protect yourself from sun exposure.
Molinin302I'd be very curious of how many of us were the muscular guys in high school, people swearing we were on something because we had big arms etc. Where I'm going with this is it sounds like a lot of us had acne issues. Maybe very high test levels when were younger then it stopped from life, or because nothing good lasts forever? Very curious...
AnonI've used it before and I'm using it right now. I am taking 20mg every other day. There is a human study online that proves taking 20mg every other day is just as effective as taking 20mg every day with less side effects such as dried lips.
Do not take any Vitamin A while taking Accutane. Taking Vit A and Accutane together put you at risk of Vit A toxicity and that is no joke bro.
I can not recomend a source. It is not my job to advertise sources in the forums. But you can check the steroid sources listed here on eroids, many of them have accutane, just go to their websites and look. You can find UGL Accutane and pharma grade Accutane.
For your liver health get an OTC liver supp. I like to take capsules of Milk Thistle daily.
+2 solid info for OP
Thanks man, I appreciate the feed back.
Have you had good results?
AnonYes I have. Accutane reduces the amount of acne I get. 20mg eod is an effective dose for me.
Hmm I’ve been on 20 mg Ed for about a month starting to see skin getting better. Interested in the eod dose
Good info think I’ll try it thank you
AnonIf you Google search "accutane every other day" you will find human studies that demonstrate the results of eod and ed dosing are very much the same. eod dosing comes with less side effects.
The half life of accutane is 21 hours. It takes 4.8 days before it clears your system, however sides can last longer than 4.8 days
I have taken 20mg of accutane ed and eod. I prefer eod, my stock of accutane lasts longer dosing it eod and my lips don't feel like bacon.
