Accutane

ad

Broke out all over my chest last year from Ace and I still have little white marks on my chest so it's still not completely cleared up.. Have now decided to order in Accutane in order to stop it from happening again (it was an issue back in high school too and it drove me mad, not from using steroids though lol, but when you've been working out, feeling good and looking good... And then have too hide away and cover up your confidence and motivation to workout quickly goes to shit! If anyone has any experiences with accutane I'd like to hear them. Extreme dryness? Are all these 'it can cause suicidal thoughts' etc horror stories bullshit? Does it get rid of acne permanetly?? How do you feel when you're on it? Was it worth it? Thanks in advance

CBBurrr's picture

just want to put out the reminder, if you do take accutane- don't give blood. For at least a month after stopping it. If a prego woman gets your blood you could cause birth defects.

only1cat's picture

My wife started using accutane roughly a year ago. It was working doing it's magic then she got dry. All joints she said was like shards of glass. So she decided to stop taking it. That was when the depression started. I honestly dunno if she has gotten over the worse sense of depression she ever dealt with.
Thing is no one can predict how you will respond to accutane. You will have to try it to find out. Personally i would try anything other than accutane & make that my last last choice. I was going to go on accutane myself but after seeing the depression my wife had fought over it I decided to go another route.

kh1216's picture

The joints I 100% agree with as I got that side too. It's well documented as accutane causing it. The depression though is a bit different since studies disproved any higher incidence of depression in those who take accutane vs those who didn't. Discussed it with my derm before starting and he said there was no mechanism for this to occur either. Not doubting the anecdotal evidence at all but I have 8 friends who have done accutane through their derm and none have had that issue myself included

vhman's picture

Accutane is not joke and just because you came out okay, doesn't mean most of the idiots here, who are jumping on massive doses, just because of a few pimples, means they will as well. There are plenty of studies of some serious side effect (liver issues, digestive issues, depression, etc.).
I've taken Accutane when I was younger and so have several of my kids. We all got monthly bloods and some of us had issues and some didn't.
All I'm saying is that people should ALWAYS get bloods and not start Accutane at the first sign of pimples. There are tons of things that should be tried before your average cycling aas user should jump on.

vhman's picture

I don't disagree with 95% of what you're saying. It's just the general idiots here that jump on it, while running tren, dbol, etc., just because they've sprouted a few pimples.
For serious acne, there's nothing better and it's worth the risk. Otherwise, other avenues should be explored extensively.
Thanks for your comments. Always appreciated.

Big X2. Everyone talks about liver enzymes, that's not the problem it's the rise in cholesterol that happens to everyone. Elevated liver enzymes happen in a small majority of paitents. My derm studied at the hostpital that invented the drug in England. Not to mention the fact me and you have both run 17aas while on this supposed liver killer and liver values never budged. I'm doijg it now for Like the 5th time.

AAS for performance enhancement= Potentially very dangerous and unknown long term side effects.

Accutane= studied extensively FDA approved and all sides are known been used to treat acne since 1982.

Having trouble posting Jimmy lol it's not letting me post all that I'd written out :/

Jpac's picture

@ Jimmy Dog medicine sounds good for it man

I've always had the same problem. In middle school/high school up into early twenties. Then when starting messing with my own hormones. I used accutane. Yeah it works but made me feel like shit. 10-20 mg a day made them fade with minimal sides. I read that sebacious glands can actually be shut down permanently with a high enough dosage which would get rid of it permanently. But that's a bad thing too, the oils in your skin are natural moisturizers and help you keep looking young.

There's a ton of threads on here about acne control. But I believe the best way to control it is to control your hormone levels. Get the test high quickly, yeah you'll break out, but once it's leveled off it gets better...if the the other hormones are good too. Estrogen can skyrocket along with that, that's why blood tests are important. Outside of my doc's office I've never gotten bloods due to where I live, but I've been able to (at least do my best to..) keep hormone levels stable based on acne and joints.

So imo, no it's not worth it. You look great other than the acne and want to hit the beach so you take the accutane, acne fades, you go to the beach, but you feel like shit...bad trade off imo. And meanwhile your lips are all fuckt up too... Stable test levels and estrogen/prolactin within a healthy and stable range are your best bet. Then there's all the other stuff people recommend...tanning, showering twice a day, scrubs, some sort of dog medicine or some shit loll....

Jpac's picture

Dog medicine sounds good for it man haha! Personally I don't really think it was a hormonal issue though, I think it was brought on due to excessive sweating from back when I was a teen. Was constantly active & never off a skateboard from the moment I got home until the last thing at night lol the tren/test made me sweat like crazy, waking up in a puddle of sweat every morning, literally dripping man! Horrible shit! I did feel like a pitbull tho haha! Obviously that's gonna create a hormonal imbalance too though, but that was way over a year back now & the spots are still there! Personally I already feel like shit from having the shit all over my chest & back as it is though, had them on my shoulders for over 10 years now but never on my chest until the tren so getting rid of it once and for good seems worth feeling like shit for a little while longer until it clears from my system tbh man.

Jpac's picture

OP here, couldn't log back into my account, sorry lads, some decent replys here tho. I did decide to go through with jumping on the accutane, had been thinking about it before for a good while & after being on numerous courses of antibiotics & roll on stinky bullshit that done nothing but make you smell like nail varnish & look oily as shit from back when I was a kid it's a last resort & it annoys the hell out of me so fuck it, nuke em lol have been on just over 4 weeks at 40mg per day & I have been feeling dry as hell, skin even peeling at my fingertips! Dry lips mainly though & I'm pretty sure it irritated my guts like fuck at one point. Drinking a shitload of water seems like the best bet. Gonna stick at it for 6 months & hope they never return. I have had the 'initial breakout' too, which I never heard about before :/ it was pretty fucking bad, all over my cheeks, but they have all dried up now & I've noticed they're clearing up pretty fast now anyway Smile as for lipids, chicken & rice bro haha, back to eating 'clean' again now anyway so hopefully that ain't an issue. I've suffered with acne (all over my shoulders from skateboarding/sweating 24/7 back in the day, I think anyway) for 11+ years, killed my confidence at school n shit, even though I was a cheeky fuck :)) every chick loves a bit of pizza, but not when it resembles a face ffs so no wonder :)) I had been reading up on it & came across depression & suicidal thoughts n shit listed as serious sides, couldn't give a fuck about birth defects since I'm a fuckin' guy lol & that was the main warning when using the drug. I have been on aromasin & I think it was 50 to 75mg tren to 25mg prop ED when I broke out, won't be touching that shit again for a long time! & that's a one off @madman ;) ahaha!!

vhman's picture

Eating better won't fix your lipids or other liver values on accutane. Please get bloods done. I assume your not under the care of a physician for this accutane run?

Jpac's picture

& I mean the acne, not the clueless docs, it's fucked with me the past 14 years!

Jpac's picture

Self prescribed dude, got sick of waiting 3 months at a time just for them to fuck up what I was put down for each time & then being forced to wait all over again, seriously sick of the shit, otherwise I wouldn't be putting myself through it, looks fucking terrible!! To embarrassed to take my shirt off & shit never mind getting any! A shit tonnee of water to flush it through and stay hydrated while keeping the diet in check to reduce the risk of increasing bad cholesterol can't do harm though right? If I start feeling ill I'll get bloods done dude, would rather not because I don't trust the fuckers as it is anyway though. If it fucks me I'm man enough enough to take responsibility, but let's hope it don't come to that eh :)) what would be the best recommendation for liver support though? Milk thistle or something?

vhman's picture

I get why you're doing this, but that doesn't mean you should put your health at risk. Liver issues, digestive issues, etc. If you wait until you feel unwell to get bloods, you'll probably be in the hospital. Get them done monthly. It's that important. Tuduca is a good one, but I don't know if helps with accutane. Milk thistle won't help damage.
Not saying don't do it, just saying do it right and stay healthy.

Jpac's picture

Yea true man, but it does drive you insane to the point that you're willing to try anything to get rid of them. I have done a fair bit of research on it, watched documentaries n shit too & the depressive sides (that aren't technically proven) was the main one for me really. Most people only report dry lips and dry eyes, so staying constantly hydrated should negate those sides at least a little. Tuduca? Never heard of it man & all google's giving me is Spanish results lol I won't be getting bloods from my local doc anyway, but I really should see about getting it done in private soon enough. Thanks man.

kh1216's picture

I never necessarily felt bad on it but it was still wreaking havoc on my system. Get some bloods done and look up the proper dose to take in order to make the results permanent if you're going to do this on your own...
I believe it's 150mg/kg of body weight for your total course and you can take anywhere from .5-1mg/kg a day in order to get there. As long it's continuous and you reach that 150mg/kg mark you'll be ok. Start off at a lower dose to assess sides for a month then work your way up. I was on it for 7 months in order to make it permanent at 40mg a day the first month then 80mg a day after that

Jpac's picture

I've been feeling pretty dried up already on 40mg per day at 3/4 weeks in man, I think 80mg per day would be a bit much tbh. The lower the dose the lower the risk of sides? I'll have to get the calculator out now tho haha, nothing would be worse than wasting my time and money while potentially damaging my health for months on end just for it to return. How did you feel after your course and how long did it take for you to notice a real change? Ima be fucking ecstatic if I do shift this shit on my chest & shoulders for good personally xD

irongame427's picture

Sides are no dose dependent with accutane. This is the words out of my doctors mouth and my experience also. No difference on 40mg then when I was on 160. And no different then now when I'm taking 40mg 3 times a week. Sides are exactly the same

Jpac's picture

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2835909/

The mucocutaneous side effects are dose dependent and can usually be controlled with regular use of moisturizers and lip salves.

Long read but I got that from page 79 dude, ain't tryina be a smartass haha. Skin on my fingertips had been drying up & peeling on 40mg so 160mg would be hell dude... For me at least anyway. Didn't the acne go away permanently though or are you running them on cycle again just to make sure?

kh1216's picture

It'll get easier to where you don't notice it but when I started it was really bad then I got used to it just in time to bump it up to 80 lol. Then it took another couple of weeks then you don't really notice it anymore except the nose bleeds and dry lips, eyes etc. Grab a tub of aquaphor at the store and rub that on your lips morning and night. I also got some bad diarrhea out of it during the transition period so watch out for that too. Once your body gets used to it it will get better.
My face dried and cleared in that first month but I also responded very well according to my derm. I didn't have any chest or back acne but I've had several friends who did and it does take longer to go but most everything should be gone after 3 months and stay gone. I feel great now that I'm done! Not a pimple in sight even on cycle and all the bad sides are basically gone. Skin is drier than it was obviously but that's the main goal of the treatment to permanently shrink your sebaceous oil glands

Jpac's picture

I felt like a crackhead during my initial breakout anyway haha, you do notice how much differently people treat you too when you have acne so glad to hear man Smile I got some Chapstick shit but lips still feel dry, it don't bother me much tbh tho but the nosebleeds might be a laugh down the line :)) only 2 more months to go then, but I have already noticed some improvement there too Smile thanks man

vhman's picture

Check this out: https://www.eroids.com/forum/steroids-qa/anabolic-steroids/best-liver-pr...

You can get bloods done anytime privately, so be sure to do it. Your health is everything.

Jpac's picture

Don't know if it's because I'm using an iPhone but there's a coffee cup at the end of that link bro haha, it ain't working for me :/ thanks for looking out tho Smile

kh1216's picture

Taurodeoxycholic acid aka TUDCA is just a liver bile salt that can cleanse the liver of harmful bile duct blockage and cholestasis from use of oral steroids or in this case accutane. Honestly though my liver values weren't really an issue on any of my blood tests minus the last two months. Then they started to get a bit elevated but nothing to worry overly about. Watch your cholesterol, keep your diet clean, take fish oil, and take care of your joints

Jpac's picture

Ahhhh! Thanks man! I'll look into it & picking up fish oils sounds like a shout too. Could you still workout decent enough throughout your course?

kh1216's picture

Yeah I could still lift but I had to back the weights down the last two months. My knees would crack really badly during squats and swell. My elbows were the same on heavy bench and I accumulated a few injuries that are just now healing up. My joints sucked before that though the accutane just made them worse. Genetically just have small wrists/ankles etc and I was never made for pushing the weight I do lol

Jpac's picture

I've had no joint issues so far but it's early days man.. Just feel as if I've got constant cotton mouth or some shit haha! I'll switch up to lighter weights with more reps/sets a few months down the line just incase though & go heavy for now, it's beneficial to be switching shit up now & again anyway so hopefully no problems there. Thanks again man Smile

kh1216's picture

No problem feel free to shoot me a pm if you ever need anything especially when those sides start kicking in

Jpac's picture

I've actually noticed a new side... Sweating like a tren head again!! Lol, I'm guessing it's because the oil glands are being shut down so my body temperature's increasing naturally and the sweat glands are working like crazy to counteract it... Other people have been saying they don't sweat much at all after the course tho? Maybe it's that it's just kicking in throughout the body & not just on the most sensitive parts (mainly being the face) and that's the body's response tho? Just a guess lol will do tho bro Smile

kh1216's picture

That's weird that's one side I didn't notice any difference in but I've always run really hot my whole life. I sleep with a fan on each side of the bed and the overhead fan going to keep me cool anyway lol. I'm just not sure since it's not something I looked for while on. It will dehydrate you though so maybe the sweating has something to do with that? Forgot to mention definitely up your water intake while you're on it. It will help a whole lot of the sides. But yeah your face will be the first to clear up then the rest will come after that so just keep pushing through and you'll love the results if you're anything like me

kh1216's picture

I've run accutane under the care of a dermatologist and it worked wonderfully. Your skin will get very dry and lips will require Chapstick or aquaphor. My cholesterol went to absolute hell and my joints suffered a bit for it, but overall no other sides and was well worth it. Go through a doctor though. One it's horribly expensive without insurance and two if you don't take the correct dose for long enough the effects won't stick, and you'll have all those side effects for only temporary relief. I've seen my friend only take it for four months at a lower dose and it cleared him only to come back entirely. It's not a permanent cure for some but it's almost guaranteed to lessen the severity if done correctly. I've been entirely clear since doing it even on cycles.

irongame427's picture

It's not your liver you need to worry about its your lipid profile. My doc had me on it for 7 months at 160mgs liver vals never budged but within a month at 40mg my total cholesterol went frkm 160 to 206. Stil not to high but that's the most common side of the drug not increased liver vals in the clinical trials and studies you'll see only a small percentage of paitents had increased liver vals. I've used it many times at small doses to prevent breakouts as I'm extremely prone to acne. As for the long term side effects showing up down the rode it's never been proven. All the Ibs and chrons disease stuff was disproven and shown to be caused by long term antibiotic use as basically 100% of accutane paitents tried antibiotics first for a long time. I was on them for a year.

It doesn't sound like yours acne is to serious I right now tho, I would suggest holding off ok the tane it takes forever to kick in. Look into bactrium or doxycycline first or retinoids like differn, retin-a or tazorac. The antibitics work a lot faster then accutane does. If all else fails then use accutane. It's a last resort thing not a first line of treatment drug.

As for side effects just dry ass lips. My doctor did his residency at the hospital that developed the drug and sides are not dose dependent. I'm using 10mg ed on cycle and my lips are just as bad as when I was on 160 when I was under his supervison. Sucidal fhougts? Lol hell no exact opposite seeing the acne finally disappear is the most awesome feeling in the world. Were all differnt tho. If anything I had suicidal thougts befoe I used it, lol not really but I hated lookng in the mirror. I didn't get bad acne till I was 22 and I had never used steroids yet. Was the effects permenant? Well let's say before my back shoulders chest and face were covered and for 8 months after I had none then it creeped back. Now I'll get a spot here and there on my face and a few on my back. So id say it worked pretty damn well.

But I would not suggest your first time using it not being under the care of a doctor. It's best to be monitored were all different. Then if you need to use small amounts down the road you know how it effects you.

This is just my experince others could have had the exact oppostite as me. My only regret is not doing it sooner and wasting all that time not wanting to look people in the eye and being discusted with how nasty that acne was.

vhman's picture

I can and will mess your liver values up. You have to get bloods done, even at a low dose.
I would focus on controlling my estro and every other method before I'd ever think of using acutane.

bigjrock's picture

Ive ran accutane before on a tren cycle. Low dose is all you need. The sides get bad when you go over 40 mg. For me they did. All you need is 10 to 20 mg and a good liver supp. Drink lots of water.

bigjrock's picture

I have heard that. My dermatologist said at that low of a dose there is noyhing to eorry about. My alt and ast values were normal. But as we all know everyones different
