That's a great question! I often want to "Like" a post but I click on the thumb up and nothing happens. I see the icons but when I click, nothing happens. Ever!
I can "favourite" things and they save, but I have not been able to send a single "like" to anyone that has said something I found helpful, and there are a lot of people who have posted very helpful things about multiple topics that I have used, and I appreciate.
When I am in a business (any kind of business, restaurant, bank, post office, whatever) and I get great customer service, I always make sure to let the staff know I appreciate their work. I always welcome courtesy and professionalism, and the same applies in forums to the experienced posters who share their knowledge and expertise as well as other "newbies" who ask good questions, but I can't get this site to accept my thumbs up / thanks!
I don't know why it doesn't let me use it. I'm newly registered, but have been reading this site for years, so I'm "new", as far as the site and forums and "karma" goes, but still......am I not allowed to vote for something because I'm new. or what? And if that's the case, how do I get past it?

I do see the thumbs up icon, but when I click it, it doesn't register anything. I am wondering if maybe it's Chrome that won't allow it. I don't use any other browser.....maybe I'll try IE and see if it works there.
Not sure why it's not registering, but giving a thumbs up does accomplish what you're stating.
Getting karma comes form contributing in the forums and people giving you thumbs ups. You can also post pictures of your gear your purchased form sources listed on eroids. Self pics and posting blood or test results. Good luck.
the thumbs up (like) thumbs down (dislike) is found in the upper right corner of a post.
the function has been disabled in some areas where abuse of the system is more likely.

You can always give someone a thumbs up/down, but you have to have 50+ karma points to give the person a point.
