There is so much new, I'm sure you're lost and confused. Ask away, I'll do my best to answer here.
KARMA EXPLAINED
Points distribution is based on contribution with different modifiers.
Even if you don't like it, this was a much needed change, karma circlejerking and whoring for promos was a problem with the previous setup. A lot of high level badges were earned "illegally".
Users were granted when karma was being recalculated and distributed:
- 1 Comment karma for every 10 comments.
- 1 Review karma for 5 reviews.
- 1 Pic karma for 5 pics.
- 1 Forum karma for 5 forum posts.
- 1 Group karma for 5 group posts.
- 1 Karma for 1 cycle log.
- 1 karma for 10 news posts.
Since launch, new rules are in effect:
- 1 Karma when post or comment is up/down voted.
- 1 Review Karma when a Review is submitted.
- 1 Pic Karma when pic is submitted.
- 1 Forum Kama when forum post is submitted.
- 1 Cycle Karma for a cycle submitted.
- 1 News Karma for submitted news.

Looking around at our new karma scores I think you may be the only one higher than me and likely the highest on the site. Congrats bro. I actually like the way it is weighted and hopefully will incentivize guys to post more, review more and post pics more. On the possibly down side it appears we will no longer be using karma as a tool for keeping everyone in check. That is also ok by me, IMO we may have used it a little too effectively. That said I am sure there will be changes as we go. I am looking forward to this chapter of eroids.
edit: after digging around I see we can still make adjustments, but I for one am turning over a new leaf and see how it goes. Someone will wreck it tho lol

RustyhookerI think the changes will have many upsides. A lot of the older members like myself got frustrated trying to be helpful and a cosigner with fistbumps and jokes pops up and the op takes the cosign and dips out. Its the op's loss in the long run but still a head banger.
Regardless of karma im just a glutton for punishment and simply enjoy seeing folks make their intended goals. Im sure i will eff up at some point but at least my goal here has been consistant. Lol! High five to a newer future here!
I am going to make an effort to post more topics myself as well. Try and mix what originally brought me here with my job of stewarding the site.
RustyhookerI surely could add research papers again. Lots of info that could reach someone in a good way. Maybe even just simplify a few cycles with good citations. Make it less complex for newer and mainstream folks.

It would be nice on the Home page if the New Forum posts, News posts etc still had a comment count next to them so you can see if the post is busy/active before you go into it.

Are the levels of Karma (or User Levels) still the same?
In the old system badges were assigned to users above certain karma level. In theory, this should work fine, but realistically a lot of high-level badges were earned through karma whoring and circlejerking.
I actually don't understand your question though.
In other words, formerly, we could achieve badges like this: NEW, then Basic, then level 1, and so on up to ADV etc. Wanted to make sure that we can still achieve the same badges with our contribution here, using the same karma point structure. Or can you achieve badges another way or sooner perhaps?
Where is the source discussion page of most recent activity comments?
On mobile: Click menu icon top right, click Source talk
On desktop: click Sources, click Source talk.
Source talk/discussion pages are already sorted by recent activity.

I just logged in since the website change. I was forced to reset my password, don't know why but no problem. I am on a desktop PC and can see usernames and profile pics in these comments. I am glad the profile pics are visible, I could not see profile pics while not logged in and browsing from phone. I have come to associate some of you with your profile pics. Rusty for example, the frustrated head in hands pic of Danny Trejo fits Rusty like a glove lol. This new format will take some time to get used to. I don't have any questions. I need to spend some time learning how to get around now that things have changed.

You have better tracking available now. On your profile check tabs My Activity, and Following tabs.
It tracks your own actions (comments, posts, votes) and actions for your friends and people you follow.
How about the public heartbeat. Is that still somewhere. I'm just so confused. I feel like the caveman guys from the geico commercials.
Pounds23Deff is different, alil hard to get used to but I'm sure over time hopefully it'll become easier.... I was using the latest srcs discussion... I think it'll just take some time getting use to... I will no doubt miss how user friendly one was.... But hopefully with time I'm sure this one will also grow on me
BFG Please would we be able to have a 'Track' button up on the top next to the Community drop box?
It would make navigation so much easier when talking to people in real time, it's all I ever used and I think it was the same for a lot of others also. It would be great if you could do that.
