+ 1 Ritalin, dopamine, steroids and ADHD

ad

I've been diagnosed with ADHD a while ago, I guess it means I have a dopamine deficieny. I'm on ritalin on and off. Now I've noticed when I don't take ritalin I look less muscular then when I'm on it (muscle fullness is night and day). Now it has been studied and proven that dopamine improves skeletal muscle.

Now there are 2 things I'm wondering about I'm wondering about.

  1. Dopamine works by inhibiting re-uptake in a way that it forces free dopamine to bind to a neurotransmitter (simply put). Does the increased brain dopamine concentration last longer than the time ritalin works? Would there be more dopamine in my brain after using ritalin than when I wouldn't have used dopamine?

  2. Could not using ritalin affect my muscles gains when on cycle, because I don't have enough dopamine in my system without the ritalin?

Looking forward to what you guys think about this subject, there must be more people with adhd on ritalin here.

Everyone I have known to be prescribed ritalin or adderall end up abusing it one way or another. They are constantly taking more than prescribed and buying on the black market. And when they cant get it, they cant function. Teachers thought my kid might have had adhd and we talked about putting him on meds with the doc but I would rather have my kid a little hyper and unfocused than to have his whole mood altered by a substance that he will be addicted to the rest of his life. I personally think its the as bad as cocaine which I used to do a lot of and will never do again.

I know this has nothing to do with your question but be careful when using this. I have watched it wreck peoples lives.

Been on various stimulant based ADHD meds almost my whole life and I have never taken more than prescribed because there is no need to. They allow me to function normally and be at the top of my game be that educationally when I was younger or for work.

Good for you. I’m glad they work. I didn’t mean to come off judgmental. I’ve just seen the dark side of abuse. Just offering a word of caution to anyone reading. Enjoy your day.

Ah yeah for sure fella I didn’t feel you were being judgemental. Plenty of people abuse all sorts of prescription meds including stimulants. You’re right to suggest caution. Here in the UK it’s pretty hard to get these prescribed without having to jump through a lot of hoops and for them to be pretty sure you have ADHD and to have regular check ins to keep your prescription.

I was prescribed adderall. But I can’t stand that shit man. I took it for a week and never again. Felt all doped out an spun. I couldn’t even eat while on it. I’m like @press1 tren calmed me down quite a bit.

Graveyard post! haha just noticed this thread though, and personally I have been on adderall since I was a teenager. They warned me that I would lose weight, and feel less hungry. I actually gained 15 pounds from the time I started taking it, to the time of my follow up visit with that doctor. Although, that is exactly the same time I started working out...

I have ADHD and it is definitely not a a fictitious disease.

I guess my, and countless others, brain scans are just pretending to be different - https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/315884.php. And next you will tell us that autism is a myth! Fuck sakes this kind of attitude gets to me. Do some research before making ill informed general statements.

Wrote a paper about this actually. I too have ADHD and I was incredibly interested in finding a common theme in individuals diagnosed with ADHD (aside from the obvious). Pretty interesting stuff in my opinion.

AS someone with ADHD myself from a young age, I would legit love to read that paper for a good read!

I'll see if I can find it, but in the meantime, that article that Dacky posted essentially sums it up.

Read the article - your question on whether the meds changes the brain with be answered (in the negative). And yes it’s getting much more common to have brain scans now especially in children. In fact they’re predicting at some point in the near future it will be the primary tool for diagnosis. I’m sorry mate but it’s a real thing and it affects people in significant ways. I actually mentor a bunch of young teens who are diagnosed and you will be amazed at some of the degrees of disability present especially when you add other socioeconomic factors.

Do you have to stay well away from the compounds that are known to cause lethargy then such as tren & superdrol?

I'm exactly the same buddy - tren makes me feel relaxed too, But then in the same breath hate all members of the general public too when I'm out and about Lol

I saw no difference. I have ADHD and was on Ritalin and adderol. I havent been taking either for over 3 years now because somehow my trt has made it go away. I also had another medical condition that has been almost non existent since starting and not ed. Each person is different.

You could also consider tasking L-Dopa! Gives off dopamine and a GH releasing effect!

I don't know for the dopamine but I know there's an serotonin syndrome which can be fatal and it can take months to cure even after people have ceased taking all drugs. Typically someone who is using amphetamine and a pain killer (opioids) is at risk to develop a serotonin syndrome.
Watch this -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serotonin_syndrome there's an array that list dangerous combination.

I take ritalin too
I tend to be a lot drier when I take it consistently which makes me look bigger

Problem for me is eating enough so I usually only take it a few times a week
