Gyno and cosmetic surgery

ad

I developed gyno during puberty and my family didn't think it was an issue worth taking me to the doctor for. Needless to say, it kept getting worse, sunk me into depression throughout my teenage years which led me to eat my life away until I exploded. But the time I was old enough to read about it, it was too late. And, now, it has been almost 13 years since I realized that medication and exercise will never correct it, I want to do something about it. But, insurance would never under any circumference cover it.

Anyone deals with loose belly skin too? Even when I worked out like crazy to lose fat to the point where i could fit into a 29' pants and wore size small, it was evident that it will never be repaired.

What's your option on gyno surgery? And tummy tuck? Pros, cons, experience and affordability at home and abroad. I greatly appreciate your input.

I recently got rid of gyno using nolvadex but it was from AAS and very fresh. There are studies where nolvadex has reversed pubescent gyno by 95% and raloxifene as well. Here is one study do a google search and you will find several. I would try this protocol first but if it doesn’t work get the surgery if it can get rid of body issues that are bothering you can’t put a price on it also if you had 2,000 to put down you could get financing most plastic surgeons will finance if your credit is decent.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES: To assess the efficacy of the anti-estrogens tamoxifen and raloxifen in the medical management of persistent pubertal gynecomastia.

STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective chart review of 38 consecutive patients with persistent pubertal gynecomastia who presented to a pediatric endocrinology clinic. Patients received reassurance alone or a 3- to 9-month course of an estrogen receptor modifier (tamoxifen or raloxifene).

RESULTS: Mean (SD) age of treated subjects was 14.6 (1.5) years with gynecomastia duration of 28.3 (16.4) months. Mean reduction in breast nodule diameter was 2.1 cm (95% CI 1.7, 2.7, P <.0001) after treatment with tamoxifen and 2.5 cm (95% CI 1.7, 3.3, P <.0001) with raloxifene. Some improvement was seen in 86% of patients receiving tamoxifen and in 91% receiving raloxifene, but a greater proportion had a significant decrease (>50%) with raloxifene (86%) than tamoxifen (41%). No side effects were seen in any patients.

CONCLUSION: Inhibition of estrogen receptor action in the breast appears to be safe and effective in reducing persistent pubertal gynecomastia, with a better response to raloxifene than to tamoxifen. Further study is required to determine that this is truly a treatment effect.- there’s the highlights from the study I hope I used proper protocol by including the authors. This study is public record

Good post and good info - wish I knew about this 30 years ago.

I had the same problem. Had an op many years ago. Chest looks fine - but the downside is: if you have sensitive nipples and they kind of help in the sex department - kiss that all goodbye. Removing the fat also removes the very fine nerves and you end up with a nipple that has no sensitivity at all. For me, I ended up losing a pleasurable part of my body just for an aesthetic appearance. Would I do it again if I had the chance over? Nope.

Edit: An 'upside' if you could call it that is that I never got gyno from any gear because the cells that would be affected by estrogen/prolactin just aren't there - still - it's a very poor trade off in my personal opinion, especially now that I don't use AAS anymore.

Not sexual satisfaction but the sensitivity of the nipples added to sexual enjoyment - after the op - nadda.

Try to find a surgeon with a lot of experience. Travel to them if you have to.

I've had the surgery 3 times now due to surgeons missing globs of tissue

Spend the cash and get it done. It's your body. Put other things on hold if you have to. You've obviously dieted hard. Treat yourself...

You can get the dr to do both at the same time. Would drastically reduce your cost. Only pay for anthesiologist and operating room cost once instead of twice.

If you want to eliminate the gynecomastia, there is no other option aside from a surgical one. Although some people claim to have success reducing the size of lumps through the usage of letrozole -- or in removing them altogether -- these are typically instances where the medication is introduced at onset of gynecomastia. Gynecomastia becomes extremely fibrotic around one year after it has set in. You have to ask yourself this question: "If all that is needed to eliminate gynecomastia is the medication letrozole, why do doctors not prescribe it and instead prescribe surgical options?"

Furthermore, there are dangers when using any medications that manipulate your hormone levels without first talking to your doctor about the possible medical causes of gynecomastia. Although it is quite rare, it could be caused by a testicular tumor... In fact, there are several other reasons why it could have developed. What's your diet look like? Do you drink heavily? Do you smoke marijuana? Do you take neuroleptics? Have you taken bloods to determine your existing hormone levels? Have you spoken with your doctor about medications that can reduce the size of the gynecomastia? At least then you will be under doctor's supervision if medication is determined to be a viable option.

Think this whole thing through before jumping in head first, and weigh out all your options before self-medicating. I'm telling you this because a lot of people will say that surgery is not needed -- all that is needed is a certain combination of medications. That is simply not the case. As to your tummy tuck question, I don't have knowledge in that particular area; however, I would assume that surgery would be your best option. I don't know the costs off the top of my head, but I think gynecomastia surgery ranges from 5--$10,000. These are probably not the answers you are looking for, but they will save you a lot of money and grief on wasted efforts, much less the potential for doing more harm than good through self-medicating.

I'm sure you should do some research into a drug we call Letrozle.
Rumuor has it that people who develop gyno on cycle can reverse the effects. I know I have talked to a few people who had success, but I cannot recommend Letro personally because I only used it once free r two or three very small doses when my nipps became luxurious and leaky.
I have also tested my bloods before which is something I highly recommend you doing.
My prolactin was high in a blood test and in only one dose of cabergoline I got it into normal range.
