Time to cut the cut and bulk? Advice and Recommendations?

ad

So I started my weight loss/body recomp on 2/2/26. I started off at 6 ft 233lbs 2/2 and today 4/8 I'm 216.

Dexa Scan
1/16/2026
235.6lbs
Lean Mass 150.9lbs
BF 32.5%

3/6/2026
227.1lbs
Lean Mass 154.8lbs
BF 28.2%

4/8/2026
216.1lbs
Lean Mass 150.7lbs (lost some lean mass)
BF 26.4%

Supplements
300mg test split 3x a week
100mg primo split 3x a week
1500iu of HCG
10mg of Reta (might consider lowering)
4iu of HGH everyday

Workout 5x a week Cardio 4x a week 30mins 120-130bpm

1750 calories 180p, 85c, 75f

Main goal is to ultimately build a physique. Current goal is to lose the body fat down to below 20%. I guess I have a few options. I can continue this trend or focus on building muscle while also leaning out. I'm tired of the stomach fat I do have. From 233-216 I definitely see a change in looks and fit in clothes. I'm just not happy to see as much gains since I'm "cheating" hoping it would help pack on size.

One thing I'm worried about is eating more calories as I don't want more stomach fat to pile on. You guys would probably tell me I definitely need more calories, but every bone in body is so use to 1750 calories, I'm hesitant to eat more thinking I'll get fat. I've been this fat for like 30 something years. It's time for a change. I'm proud I got this far.

You guys mentioned before. I can still keep at test and primo (AI inhibitor) and maybe add tren in when I do get to like 20% body fat or lower, with at least a noticeable change in muscle. Since I started on Primo, i know I'm not going to see the full potential of what it can do, but if you keeping it on helps somewhat I can keep rolling it. Another question I have is lets say I take out primo and need to manage estrogen, what do you guys recommend? arimdex or aromasin? How would I take it to start off before seeing the effects on bloodwork?

I know this is a stupid question, but now at my macros and calories, how do I find my maintenance or my bulking? As you can see, my protein is pretty much in a good position and really my carbs is hella low. How do I trial and error basically how much more calories to eat?

Jayster123's picture

Alright after everyone's chime in, I will continue to cut. Is 1700 calories a bit too low or just keep at it since it's working? If I get to 15% body fat, I will look pretty scrawny lol. I think my RMR is 2100 last time I check so I'm in a pretty deep deficit. Again I'm just so hesitant because I'm use to 1700 and the weight is going down. Adding more calories would cause it to fluctuate of course.

Would tren help speed it along or hold off on it for now? I was thinking 70-100mg of tren.

You got some SOLID responses down there Boss. Go get it.

Personally, i would focus on getting your BF% down alot more. bump cardio from 120-130bpm to 130-150 and keep it there the whole time. As far as lifting goes, i'd focus more on getting everything a good pump 2x per week to signal your body that you need to keep the muscle tissue. forget about progressive overload, forget about muscle gains and get into a good deficit. you will redline your cns if your eating in a good deficit and lifting to gain tissue. I was in a similar boat before i started all of this shit and kept kidding myself that i was lean enough when i wasn't. I know this isn't fun advice but it's my .02. Get your abs showing then turn up the sauce. personally i recomped well, but the loss of bf was so slow and eventually stalled. I can now see my abs for first time since highschool and everything I did over the last year is now showing. But i wish i had cut first, and made better gains since i can now afford to actually bulk. trying to gain muscle AND lose weight gave me mid results on both.

Let me add you. I saw your post on your transformations and let me say. I’m EXACTLY IN THE SAME BOAT AS YOU. TO THE TEE

HogCranker3000's picture

Best thing I ever did was order a Reta kit and actually cut. I had lost 50lb prior to all of this natty, but never finished leaning out till recently, and i'm not even done yet

Another question, arimidex vs aromasin, what should I have on standby?

liverpool_96's picture

I made the mistake of bulking when I was already fat. I've now been cutting since October trying to shift this weight and I still have another month or 2 to go. Get as lean as possible before you bulk.

Milfpounder's picture

Lol you're ready to ditch the cut after 2 months? You have a ways to go my man.

If you have any quantifiable muscle mass built and work on cutting slow and maintaining as much of that muscle as possible, your end result will be impressive. Getting lean REVEALS what you have built whilst being fat and able to grow. I'm talking about being able to see abs and obliques (10-15%).

Let's say your arms are 16" now and look "meh". Cut to 15% and those same arms will pop, along with your shoulders and lats.

Single digits is definitely not necessary and EXTREMELY hard to maintain. But is also extremely impressive. Just not sustainable for most mortal men. Low teens is usually a sweet spot.

Keep ur head up and try to get there.

You just flat out make me hard.

Jayster123's picture

Thank you! I’m just trying to gather advise

TrainElite's picture

At 26% bodyfat your gains will be suboptimal and you'll convert alot of estrogen and gain alot of fat. Whereas if you cut hard and deep into single digits body fat %(6-8%) and then when you increase the calories to bulk you will make serious quality gains and even when your bulk is over you'll still be fairly lean and not have to cut so hard next time. Theres alot of ways to go about it. But when you can get yourself under 10% bodyfat and lean AF then your body is primed to grow like you've never seen before. This is the difference in an average gym bro and a professional body builder. The deep cut. That's where all the magic happens.

What’s why I have the primo haha

-Infidel-'s picture

You are currently at 26% BF? I would cut down at least 6-10% before even thinking about bulking. You can easily eat more than 1750 daily, at 215 lbs you are probably burning 2500 (ish) just living. You could eat 2500 “clean” calories (Whole Foods, high protein) and be more comfortable, not always starving, and still lose body fat

Are you getting bloodwork? I’d be worried about your E2 levels with that level of bf%. If your E2 is high, it’s gonna restrict both your bf % loss and lean muscle gain.

If i were you, I’d cut until mid summer, then reassess.

Yes I’m currently at 26% Jesus 6-10%. At that weight I’ll be like 180lbs or lighter. I’m not starving due to Reta.

I always on top of bloodwork. With primo now I’m at 14 estradiol. I’m getting bloodwork tomorrow to see how I am at 300mg test and 100mg primo.

-Infidel-'s picture

You don’t have to starve yourself man. You can easily eat 2500 calories ( 200 G protein, broccoli, rice, etc) and be full daily and not feel like shit AND burn body fat.

I’m just guessing here, but with your current weight, lifting and cardio routine.. you are already probably burning anywhere between 2800 and 3200 daily. A 300 calorie deficit, eating Whole Foods, and the Reta/HGH you will easily cut the fat 6 points in 12 weeks.

Im so use to 1750. Scared jumping that high im going to see weight gain. You know coming from 233 when I dropped to 220 I felt like it was bs and just water weight. Now at like 216 ok something is working but still feel like it’s water weight. Call me crazy but that’s how I see it. Like if I get to 200 then I can come back to this post and feel like I accomplished something

-Infidel-'s picture

You are too focused on the actual weight and not the body fat. If you ate 2500 clean calories , with your current lifting/cardio routine, in the next couple months you probably won’t drop much weight, but you will drop bf.

This and everything else Infidel has proposed is solid IMO and own exp. 305# to 230# in 4mo now at 6mo at 20% BF or less. Using this janky scale but results are visual and obvious. Have not done cardio in a few months but gonna jump back on after this current Blast. Keep going man, and dont worry so much about the scale weight. Push weight like a mofo and keep eating clean maybe even drop the cardio for awhile.

Jayster123's picture

True true. I should care about the body fat. Sorry! I haven’t seen any muscles yet so I’m shooting in dark and the weight on scale is all I know.

Try a variation of this:

Wake up (6-‘-7am)
2 eggs, 2 pieces of turkey bacon on a whole grain McMuffin
Protein shake (20-30 grams of protein- pick a flavor you like so it doesn’t feel like a chore drinking it) I mix coffee with mine, does t taste the best but fuck it

9-10am: cup of yougart with Wheat germ on top (20’grams of protein)

11-1: grilled chicken sandwich, lettuce, tomatoes, little mayo, NO Fries, do like a cup of chili or sweet potatoe or brown rice (you need some carbs for your work out/lift routine)

2-3pm: another protein shake

5-7pm: 0.5-1 lb of lean hamburger meat ,brown rice, and broccoli

9-10pm: do your HGH pin

If you wake up in the middle of night, like I do, eat a cup of cottage cheese (Casin protein… slow releasing protein that keeps you fuller longer)

Doesn’t seem that much but that’s quite a bit of food, and it’s roughly 2500 calories. But cut out the sauces, butter, mayo, etc.. use olive oil instead. Eating a variation of that will put both muscle on and cut bf% especially with the Reta.

Then on Sunday, treat yourself to some ice cream or pecan pie, or whatever your ass likes. No reason to be miserable every day of every week, especially since your goal is to look better.

Lift Heavy!!! Like 4-8 reps, on every exercise. Everyone thinks high reps “tones”, there’s no such thing as toning.. well at least for us average dudes anyway.

I love the food guide. I have a question though, is there really much difference between using turkey bacon or normal bacon?

Thank you! I’m going to clean up my food. I do use olive oil. I use it to make fried rice Smile
