Well I’m pretty sure the fear stems from spending 5 weeks in a burn unit. My dressing changes were in a big stainless steel bathtub. Then also had to continue dressing changes in the bath at home. I’m weirded out by baths, pools, and lakes. It’s weird. But not as weird as my browser history.

I use to be scared shitless of swimming pools when I was very young - I had an irrational fear of the 'Deep end' LOL I found looking underneath the water at the end where your feet can't touch the ground really haunting and where it suddenly slopes down. Took many swimming lessons to get over it and not be able to walk on the floor.
Mind you I use to be needle phobic going back 12 years now and look how that turned out - fuckin needle junkie now LMAO
Burning brush and using gas mixed with diesel as an accelerant. We had been burning for a few days. Pushed some more brush onto the pile and started dumping fuel on it not thinking about it still being hot.
The fuel caught fire and followed the stream into the fuel can. The pressure of it coming back into the can caused it to spew burning fuel which got on me.
You know how the teach “stop, drop, and roll”? Well when you’re completely on fire the only thing that comes to mind is “fucking run”! Lol.
The dude who was working with me tackled me and put me out. He took me to my dad. I was only 16. Went to the hospital and I woke up about 4 weeks later. 65% total burn. 40% 3rd degree. 25% 2nd degree. 5 weeks in the burn unit. 2 more weeks on the rehab floor.

Blimey I bet that kind of pain all over is literally unbearable, as soon as they got you to hospital did they have to put you to sleep because of all the pain? Did they put you out for that long then to effectively put you into a coma so that you couldn't feel the pain or move around so that it would heel better? Yeah I was a bit or an arsonist when I was younger and became obsessed with it, you don't realise just how quickly it spreads and becomes unconrtollable in seconds. My young childhood friend got a kettle of boiling water tipped over his arm and that was bad enough - he was in agony with all the burning and blistering for a long time.
Yep. Medically induced coma. Five skin graft surgeries. The entirety of my legs are skin grafted. Most of my stomach and chest are also grafted.
When I was 20 I took part in a burn camp for kids as a counselor. Ages 5 - 17. It was wild seeing some of the burns those little ones had and how they got them. All that aside they were still innocent kids who just wanted to play and have fun. Amazing what small children can overcome.

So I have to ask, did you manage to keep the fire off your face and scalp then if it got most of your body?
IV’s, feeding tube, catheter, and I’m assuming a breathing tube for a short period at least. The IV I had was wild. Still had it in when I woke up. It was like one big tube stitched to my upper right chest with multiple lines they could attach to.
No face or scalp burns. Legs, stomach, chest, some on my arms. Don’t inhale any smoke either.
Thank goodness for that - I can imagine that looking in the mirror and seeing the continual reminder of the accident for the rest of your life isn't the nicest thing to see although I guess you would get use to it over time. Uuuuff I think I'd freak out seeing actual tubes going into my stomach when I woke up LMAO
Ooohh God yeah - have you seen what they do when you inhale lots of smoke and you get deposits in there? They literally vacuum your lungs out like they did with Nikki Lauder the F1 driver - apparently that is one of the most horrific things you can go through while being awake also.
