In the last couple days all the posts on the home page under “latest comments/hot topics” are all 9-12 years old. And it’s not like someone bumped these, the last comment was many years ago. While a trip down memory lane is always fun, I’d like to see the actual newest posts here and stay up on what’s going on. I don’t see any settings where I can choose this? Is this something I clicked or is everyone seeing this? Or how do I change it?

Most likely those threads had a lot of views, without any replies to bump them.
I did a poll from over a year ago. Not knowing.

Same here. The amusing part is people asking questions on a 12-year-old post like someone is going to respond lol
That section records whats the most active at the moment, and it's what happens when unregistered users read more content than you!
Got it. Would be pretty sweet if we could have a way to filter it and select either like how it is now and choose most active in terms of traffic , or most recent in terms of when it was posted. I like using that section for the latter so I can easily see anytime a new thread is posted without having to go into every sub forum and check. I think a lot of us end up missing stuff, especially if it’s in one of the less popular sub forums.
The best way to monitor activity I find, is to use the Heartbeat in the top right hand corner - if you are on regularly like me (which you are!!) then you see the various forums that have been added and where the main conversation and activity is taking place.
Ive been enjoying it, little window into the past of a subculture I was completely unaware of back then
Ya some have Been interesting. We had some good threads here back in the day. It’s funny reading posts from myself 12 years younger lol.
This happens because although people aren't commenting on or bumping the Old threads, they are searching for and then viewing them mate. They are getting a lot of recent visits and page hits. Then others see them listed there and more people are then reading them.
I thought someone had to make an active post in the thread. Then its "bumped" and we see it. Didn't realize it oculd just be someone viewing it. Which would make sense because I went through a few topics and there was nothing at all new posted and i was confused.
So it’s not just me seeing this, it’s everyone. I kinda wising they would rewrite the code so only if someone bumped it it would show up there, not just from people reading it.
Or it’s a never ending cycle… I agree.
Seeing the same on my end. Some of them are definitely interesting to come across, but I've been wondering why they're popping up, too.
