Hong Kong's postal service is temporarily stopping the delivery of postal items from the US

ad

Check it out and let me know if this will mess up our orders. Haven’t seen any posts on this yet and people need to be aware before ordering. Here is a copy and paste from business insider

•Hongkong Post temporarily halted the delivery of goods from the US, effective Tuesday (4/15/25)

•The service said in a release that the US was "bullying and imposing tariffs abusively."

•Parcels containing only documents will not be affected

I’m pretty dumb , are the tariffs going to affect international sources shipping to America ?

thorny's picture

Depends on a lot of things, and I clearly don't have any insider knowledge on it haha. Clearly these tariff issues come and go as part of the overall politics. Without getting into any of that, what the facts are, as of now, is that HK is not going to process and ship out any packages meant to ship by sea, effective immediately.

Air shipment, they say they will stop processing and sending, as of April 27.

Of course, things could change 5 minutes from now. It's a huge bargaining / blinking process on each side, and we can discuss that in another forum haha. But perhaps, depending on how your preferred source ships internationally, if you're considering an international order, maybe place it now, rather than in May? I don't know. Better safe that sorry? After all, HK international airport is a common intermediate for many shipments from China.

Tizmode44's picture

Appreciate it bro. I pretty much live by the nothing ever happens chud , but this issue hits close to home so I’m hoping it burns out soon

They arent telling you that 72 countries already agreed to drop their tatiffs that they have been charging us for years if we drop their new tariffs. Win Win! Mexico already agreed a solution. Now just China but there are other options like taiwan we can import. Plus most manufacturers have already found a way around it oile shipping to third party country first. Also if a vendor hasnt stocked up in the 3 months warning deadline so they have the stock here already do you really want to buy off someone so incompetent anyway? 99% of our fears never come true. I could be wrong but im not the coulda shoulda woulda kind of guy and freak out before it happens

Tizmode44's picture

Yeah bro I’ve seen videos of a past presidents praising tariffs and how they’re a good thing but then when our current president does it everyone freaks out lol. Appreciate the explanation!

Who here in the US is shipping TO hong kong!? Thats what your post says, right?

.......move means companies and individuals in Hong Kong will have to pay private couriers such as FedEx and DHL to deliver packages.
A DHL spokesman told CNN that it will continue to process shipments to the US, monitor the situation and work with customers to help them keep up with latest changes.

You will be fine. Its Hong Kong Post only
Dont believe the hype!

Oh shit I read it wrong and freaked me out. I thought it said China wasn’t going to ship anything to the US through their postal service. Thanks for the clarification
