Default - Use Group's defaults.

So it seems Springtime is finally here guys! Not sure how it is in the rest of the World but over here in Blighty its bright and sunny most mornings now, with the weather turning milder and warmer - I even had a bit of aircon in the car on yesterday it was that warm! lol

I've been dealing with bronchitis for the first time ever in my life for the past 5 to 6 weeks as most of my pals know who I've bored to death about it on here LMAO Horrific was putting it finely, but I'll tell ya something - still nowhere near the utter depths of hell that is being in Addiction and alcoholism I can tell ya. Years ago I would of sat and drink myself through all those weeks to numb the illness and try make myself feel happier in some way, now I just think okay, we all know this is going to feel shit for some time so lets not make the situation worse and just stand up, get on with it and DEAL with it!!! What seems like a great solution short term for about an hour is going to result in days/weeks and possibly months of revisited addiction, depression, anxiety and generally feeling 100 times worse than being ill in the first place!

I wanted to check in on how everyone is doing at the moment since the group is fairly quiet at the moment - it would be nice if everyone could check in and say hi or bye for 2 minutes and say how everything is going for you right now, good or bad Smile

@CHIMAIRA75 How are you holding up buddy, how is the foot and ankle doing - are you any more mobile yet mate?

@Cjames502 How is the move going mate? Have you joined the local gym and made some good friends there now? Are things going better with your daughter now you are there?

@smurfdude1234567 How are you recovering after the accident you had now buddy - have you had any more scans or got to the root of why it happened?

@Gettinit I Hope you are feeling better now pal after what happened to your daughter and that your wife is well - has she finished up with her surgery yet?

@Izzy75 How are you getting on with your hand/finger now buddy? Have you had the next consultation with your Doctor yet - Thanks for all of your help and support whilst I was ill too mate Smile

@Stokes500 Hope the Sex doll is holding up well now mate and the puncture repair kit I sent is still working well.

Hey all, I just wanted to introduce myself I'm new to this forum. I'm 47 M, 7 years in recovery from IV Meth, I'm a drug and alcohol counselor and I'm trying to get ahold of my body again like I did when I was fresh in recovery. Grateful to be here and thank you!

Cjames502's picture

Bro thank you so much for this post. I always get on here and check for new requests for members to join our group..but I haven't been engaged like I should. I've been going back and fourth between Kentucky and Florida, my grandfather passed away last week, it was expected, but none the less. But, yes, things are going well!! I go to planet fitness in Panama City, and I've been boxing at downtown boxing gym. But I hope everyone is doing well !! We're gunna have to plan a gathering one day.

press1's picture

Buddy that's Brilliant to hear!!! Yes 3 I did see you had been keeping up with the member requests when I looked the other day, its something I always forget to check for - it would be handy if we could get some kind of alert when one comes in then we could be straight on it. Sorry to hear about your Grandad mate, hopefully he made it to a good age. Which are you finding you are enjoying doing more then - the Boxing or the gym matey?

Cjames502's picture

It's a close one but the boxing I think. And yea I agree a notification system would be perfect if we could create one lol

Glad to hear you are sounding really happy at the moment mate and top marks on your recent progress picture Good

Izzy75's picture

Life is good and I'm doing well. My hand is shit and will be shit, hurts a lot, but that's not an excuse to use or not train hard. I have an appointment with the surgeon in a few weeks so lets see.
I have a personal goal in mind for the end of this year in terms of training and development. So far I'm on track to achieve it.

Hi everyone. Nice initiatie.
Nice to see activity in the group. My name is Steve and i WAS a recovered coke and drug addict for 7 years. Went through some struggles at the end of 2024 and that made me pick up the powder and started using again. Forgot all about what i've learned (or just turned my back to it) it lasted for 4 weeks weeks and i again felt the power addiction has on me when u are in the middle of it. Its insane how it just takes over ur body and mind. My good pal took me to the emergency doc and stayed at the hospital for one night. Moved me in at he's place and stayed with him and his wife for 3 weeks to get me back on my feet. Now i'm 2 months C&S, just started my new recovery, getting back in the rooms, meetings and a fellowship and of course the gym. Back again on eroids that are quite an important fellowship for me to. Lifting, eating healthy, take care of my body is extremely imortant for my recovery progress. Thank you all so much for making this a part of my recovery process.

Never look back brother!!

I’ve personally had 2 buddies pass the past decade from using coke that got laced with fent and had zero opioid tolerance. The risk isn’t worth it whether a stupid low level dealer trying to make more addictive, or micro contamination in production. Your life is the most valuable thing, and the best way to respect it is to continue practicing what you know.

Lapses and relapses are a part of everyone’s journey.

You didn’t forget anything- it got pushed to the back burner by that egregious amount of temporary dopamine that using gave you. Notice how short lived it was, and how quickly it brought you back to the bad place.

Sober life is the best way.

ShredBundy's picture

Thank u brother for reply. Yeah got caught in the obsession again and its not a place where i have any power. Better stay away from the first line/hit because thats where i have power. After the first one, i'm lack of it. We dont have much fent here where i live, but i guess where u live its a fent/opiod crisis. Been dogding the fent stuff.
Have a good weekend pal

press1's picture

Great to see you in the group mate!! Smile

ShredBundy's picture

Thank you brother. Really apreciate it. Happy to be here ✅️--

Drexyl's picture

Still not a sip since September 20th, don’t miss it, don’t even think about it.

Mac12769's picture

Kudos bro. Quit that shit with the ex, a long time ago.

Gettinit's picture

Letzz Fuckin Gooooo Drex!!!

FartDracula's picture

I feel like being a heroin addict is basically cheating in the recovery department because everything is fentanyl and tranq now. That sober period as an alcoholic is a real accomplishment what with booze being everywhere all the time. Good job man, real admirable.

Izzy75's picture

That is awesome bro. I'm glad I never liked alcohol that much because it is virtually everywhere without nobody questioning you or nothing, unlike hard drugs where you need to know people, search for it, hustle and deal, be on the lookout etc. Getting high on H or pills is expensive and too much work!!! Fuck, at almost 50 I get tired just thinking about it. But with alcohol I just need a few bucks and a trip to the corner store. In my opinion quitting alcohol takes double the effort, so feel proud my friend. It might seem like just a few months but it takes brass cojones to do what you're doing.

smurfdude1234567's picture

Don’t need the shit!

A doctor on a YT podcast spat some most likely broscience, but I found it interesting.

He said something along the lines of “the average steroid users cycle is going to put stress on the body & organs similar to drinking 1-3 beers per day.” I personally would much rather any stress/damage come from things that are bettering me physically and mentally- not making everything worse.

Probably little to no merit to it, but definitely something that sticks if you’re in recovery.

I’m sure we’ve all had nights where 3 beers is laughable.
Try 30 or so lol!

Drexyl's picture

Thanks bro, and @Izzy and @FartDracula. I hate to say it, but it’s actually been pretty easy, I guess I got tired of it. The end was a little ugly, but it’s all in the past. Now I feel like I never drank, it’s weird.

Darkhorse777's picture

I'm hanging in there ... Alcohol cost me literally everything wife kids house health career...I'm trying to rebuild all this happened in 2022 2023 ... My family said I was into bodybuilding too much and so I replaced it with booze ..it was the worst most insane thing mistake that I let be a part of my life now my family is like we should have never hated on your life style ..gee really
Anyway lifting was and is still one of my main outlets life I'm grinding everyday but haters always gonna hate stick with sober communities sober gym mates life is good ...God will sort out the rest

press1's picture

I seem to remember we talked a few years back when this was all beginning to happen bud? Its a funny thing with certain family members and people who you would think are going to be positive and happy for you living a healthy life with the gym and staying clean - I was shocked by some of the negativity I got when I quit drinking and got back into training again. Shockingly, one of those was my own mother when I told her - she wasn't even happy for me or anything, just sat there staring ahead and said 'Yeah, well I've cut down too' and then sank half of her Barcardi and Coke - Epic. She didn't come out with a positive word all night after that lol But when you actually look at those who aren't happy for you its because they are still well and truly trapped in some kind of addiction themselves and are resentful of your achievement, or are in general just envious and unhappy people. You are best having as little to do with those kind folk as possible if its feasible, as they will continually try to bring you down on things. Anyway buddy - its all about moving forward and not dwelling on what we cannot change, very glad to hear you are back on track bud!

Cjames502's picture

Very well said my friend!!! I come from a family of users, who still actively use.. and man the shit some of these people say about me to friends or the family to try to keep that same image of us painted. I struggled with something the other day. I'm in college, and this is my 1st course of this semester. And I'm fucking killing it bro, j got a A-. Now, normal people might not be wow'd by that... But in high school, I was such a burn out. I did 0 home work..ever. I had to do summer school every year just to move on. So this is a huge deal for me. Keep up tbe good work my friends!!!

HENCH500's picture

I’m good bro just chilling and waiting for this shit British weather to turn so I can get my barbecue fired up

press1's picture

Its been really good lately in my neck of the woods, warming up on a night too.

smurfdude1234567's picture

Oh I’m 100%!

Never found out, and I’ve come to terms with it. Just praying it never happens again. All my scans and labs showed no abnormalities and the bleeding resolved itself pretty quickly.

I used test/primo at low dose to cruise off of the cycle and GH & bpc for recovery. I feel like I bounced back super quickly and am about to ramp back up into this coming cycle. I always feel better when I’m in the gym consistently.

Much appreciated post brother man. I ask myself lots of the same questions and appreciate this group a bunch!

Mannnn bronchitis can be a nasty fucking beast! I got it from smoke inhalation once and the lasting effects lasted weeks after. For lots of people it evolves into something worse like pneumonia. I know it’s hard to do much of any strenuous activity when you can’t breathe!

That little kerfuffle coming back with our mutual buddy was a bit damn silly this time. I honestly hope the shit stirring can be put to rest after this ban. I like the peace and quiet.

I’m all for friendly banter/competition- never for meaningless hate.

press1's picture

I'm Very glad to hear all is well with you again mate, that was very worrying at the time and again it just shows to never take each day for granted that we are living and breathing - because at any second it could be your last whether its right or wrong. Makes you appreciate so much when everything is going fine and steady and there are no problems to have to deal with.

When I use to hear people mention Bronchitis in the past I never really thought much to it, figured it was just a bad chest cold with a fancy name LOL Mate never been knocked sideways by an illness so much in my life ever - made Covid look like a mild cold no joke. The internet is very misleading as it states most people get over the infection in 2 to 3 weeks which in itself is a fair while - BUT in reality its much longer and worse than that. Because it inflames, irritates and attacks your windpipe, voice box, bronchi tree and all the airways in your lungs it means all of it stays clogged with mucus and sore for about another 3 to 6 weeks AFTER the initial infection itself has gone!! So you still basically feel ill and are forever coughing, gagging for weeks afterwards. Its not just bits of nasal drip either, its that big gloopy thick and nasty phlegm that irritates you in your lungs - then you basically begin an aggressive coughing fit whether you are up for it or not to bring the whole fucking thing all the way up through the windpipe and voice box and into your mouth to spit out. ALL DAY EVERY DAY BRO. You cannot do anything in life or your routine that doesn't initiate it, even taking the bin bags out it would make me feel so light headed and dizzy I would nearly fall over - training is impossible as once your breathing rate increases it irritates everything and you are puking between sets lol Every day became like groundhog day in the end and I thought it would never go LOL Mac, Maximus and Izzy became like doctors to me on here with the amount of PM's I sent them asking for advice LOL Yeah I was paranoid that it was turning into pneumonia in the end, even got referred for a chest X-ray at the hospital as the lung mucus just wouldn't quit coming up when I laid down or when I got up. Guy upstairs even went away for the final few weeks of it he was so sick of hearing me LMFAO

I know there are a lot of guys on here that are Anti Vaccine and so on, but I was offered the Flu Jab a few months before I got this and really wish that I'd taken advantage of it - I may of still got it but I am sure it would of been nowhere near as bad. Its from the same Flu virus so I'm sure it would of lessened the effects or even saved me from getting it. I'm now getting it on Tuesday LOL

CHIMAIRA75's picture

What's up brother Press?! I'm doing a little better. The pain has subsided some finally, but I'm still not mobile enough yet. I'm getting around a little better but it's going to be a while. I have zero mobility in my ankle. Still can't get it to move at all and I'm still not allowed to put any weight on it.
I've been doing pull ups here at the house. And I've got some smaller dumbbells that I've been using just to keep some blood flowing. It's been rough, but it's gonna be a while and I've just gotta make sure with what I have. Could be worse! I could be waking up sick right now, needing a bag to get me going. I'm blessed for not having to go through that anymore. I celebrated 3 years in the 15th. I don't ever want to have to live that way again.
Well, I hope all is well on your side of the pond brother? Thank you for this post and thank you for always trying to be inspirational and lifting others up. You're a gem Press!

press1's picture

I'm glad to hear you have been able to do some training again mate, there is nothing worse than having loads of built up energy from having to rest due to being injured or ill and having no outlet to channel it through and get rid of it all. The training then keeps you much more positive in return. Are you able to get around on crutches now or is it still a wheelchair I can't remember what the last situation was? Congratulations on your 3 years buddy - makes you wonder how we did all that stuff on top of being ill doesn't it?!! Thankyou for your very kind words Chim Good

CHIMAIRA75's picture

Yeah, I'm able to crutch around bro. Gotten pretty good at it too. Lol just making the best out of what I got brother. It's rough but being able to do what we normally do. I know it's going to be a while. I'm just going to keep doing what I can, within the limits of what I can do without hurting myself.
Can't just let myself wither away. Lol

Gettinit's picture

Waddup bro good to see you man!!!

CHIMAIRA75's picture

Same here brother!

press1's picture

Is your new name gonna be Tripod now mate! Lol I remember back in secondary school there was this lad in my year who was a keen gymnast - he knackered his knee up so was on crutches for literally years because of it. Literally you should of seen the way this kids chest, triceps and chest ballooned up even though he didn't lift weights or anything!! Grew thick as hell although he did sport some pretty good genetics with it too, it was impressive all the less though. Pull ups are really good for keeping the rear and side delts strong and healthy for pressing as it decompresses the shoulder girdle as it pulls the joint out, as long as you don't go too wide on grip width, brilliant for grip and bicep strength and obv lats. How about investing in a dipping station buddy and possibly a weight harness belt? That will keep your pressing strength there and if you need to bail out then you just go down onto the one foot while keeping hold of the handles at the side? Much easier than balancing a pair of dumbbells using a broken foot.

CHIMAIRA75's picture

I already own a belt for adding weight to my pull ups and dips. And I use it regularly. Even now it's a must! I can do too many pull ups and dips with just body weight. Normally I'd strap on 50 up to 100lbs. Right not, I'm dealing with some lighter weight as I don't have a weight set at the house. I don't own a dip bar, but I do have a place where I do them. So that's basically all I have right now is weighted pill ups and weighted dips, other than some light dumbbells for arms or side laterals. I'm hoping the weighted dips and pull ups can hold me down for a little? At least until I'm a little more mobile and can get up to the other house. They other house on the ranch here has a full gym in it. I'm not that mobile yet to get over there, but that's my goal.

press1's picture

The Dips and Pull ups will definitely really help you, way more so than doing nothing at all thats for sure - You are still pushing and pulling a lot of weight each time. The key is to be doing 'something' that is breaking down muscle and causing your body to use the protein in the food you eat and make you crave more of it - when I was ill and could do nothing I was fully aware that still forcing protein shakes down my throat was pretty pointless as it wasn't being used for anything, discontinue using a muscle and it just wastes away.
