Start finasteride now or wait until thinning worsens?
I started noticing hair thinning about 2 years ago when I was on enclomiphene / HCG mono therapy for low testosterone, which brought my total T was at around 800 on the drugs.
I took a huge break because I didn’t like how the seems made me feel, and subsequently the hair thinning slowed down (I also started ketoconazale shampoo)
Fast forward to now, I got on TRT at 120mg/week from online HRT. So far so good. No thinning yet, feeling good, even though it’s only been a month.
I have oral and topical fin on hand, (topical I have .025% concentration AS WELL AS .25% concentration)
My question is: should I start the topical fin now while I’m ahead? Or wait for my lab results and DHT levels having been on TRT at 3 month mark?
I feel like the smart answer is to only introduce one medication at a time and see how it affects blood results. I’m on minoxidil which has helped a really good amount but I will need to start fin at some point. Thanks

Nice to see someone get their DHT checked too. Not all hair thinning is because of DHT. So good you are looking at those numbers.
Just my $0.02. If you know you're likely to lose hair on HRT then I'd start sooner than later. In my mind the only real question is finasteride - is it worth the risk of side effects? Many use it side effect free. However, there are many examples online of folks who it doesn't agree with. I'd certainly go the topical route.
