Clear protien powder

ad

Has anybody tried the clear protien powders? I see they mix like water kind of like a Gatorade drink. Was thinking of buying it. I do t want it if it taste bad because the stuff is pretty expensive

Bill1976's picture

Found one I like

press1's picture

You gonna elaborate a bit more on that mate?!! Lol

Bill1976's picture

My protien lemon. Ot foams up like crazy but I make it the night before and let the foam settle and add more water.

press1's picture

Thats exactly what I do, make it up with some Dextrose powder in there also (50g's) then leave it to settle in the fridge for an hour. Tastes so much better and is easily more drinkable and easy to slam down. They claim to add anti foaming ingredients to them but it never seems to work to me!!

SeeOhShow's picture

Shake it up with ice and it really helps with the foam a lot. I’ll put two scoops, about 50oz of water, and a bunch of ice in a 72oz jug. Shake it up hard. Let it sit 5-10 min and it’s good to go. Will drink it while working out…

Yes I go through that much water in a single workout lol.

press1's picture

Sorry bud - we wrote it at the same time lol

TrenAThor's picture

The one or two I've tried I wasn't crazy about because every time you shake it it has like like a foam on top. So I kinda backed away from them. That's just from what I had. The one I have now that's still sitting is the iso-jym Popsicle flavor. Hopefully they're all not like that.

Applied nutrition has no after taste, atleast the watermelon flavour doesn't. Which brand did you have?

SeeOhShow's picture

MyProtein clear isolate is delicious. I don’t mix it like they describe, because it’s too sweet. I’ll put 2 scoops in a 72oz jug, shake it up hard with some ice, let it settle for a while because it does get foamy, and drink the whole jug while lifting or playing basketball. Tastes like a sugar free vitamin water at that point with the added benefit of 40g protein once I’m done with all my water

press1's picture

Yeah it does foam doesn't it even though it shouldn't Lol Didn't know you guys got that over there from MyPro - which is your favourite flavour? Mine are Cloudy Lemonade, Tropical, Fruit Punch. EDIT: From BulkP Lol I used the MyPro at first but found the Bulk version better tasting if you can get it.

SeeOhShow's picture

The dragon fruit one. It’s the least sweet. I’ve tried all the mike n Ike special ones too. Having a bunch of ice in jug drastically reduces the foaming when I shake it up. I stopped buying it recently because they stopped offering the 35 serving tub and their prices have become ridiculous. I only buy their stuff when they run a 50% off coupon

press1's picture

Yeah those smaller tubs are a joke - Christ mate I found the Tropical Dragon fruit flavour the worst one of them all!! Lol Ya see you guys all have ice machines on the front of your fridges so you can do that no problem! I've always wanted one of those Yes 3

SeeOhShow's picture

The flavor is much different when mixed with 72oz of water. The dragon fruit one becomes a very subtle flavor when mixed with that much water. I have a bottom drawer freezer with an ice tray lol no front of the fridge shit here

Using clear whey from applied nutrition for the first time, tastes great. Only sometimes it doesn't mix perfectly, I need 500ml of water with a 25g scoop to get it to mix properly. Pricey so I safe it for post workout only, other than that I use egg white protein powder.

Roider007's picture

I only use clear whey mostly nothing can beat it not had any that have tasted bad or mixed bad. Just way much easier to drink & refreshing.

Makwa has gotten me clear protein from muscle tech
Lemon berry blizzard. And our wifes both use the iso dynatizes whey cocoa pebbles flavor.

press1's picture

That Iso Dymatize always looks good when I see the tubs.

The point of "clear protein" is better solubility and a watery, juice-like texture. Another advantage is that it is usually a hydrolyzate, which is of course better than concentrates and isolates. As always, not every company makes equally tasty supplements, so some are tasty and some are disgusting. Most of them leave an aftertaste because if you want a product with 0 or 1 gram UH, they have to add sweeteners. If you want less aftertaste, watch the composition. If a serving is 30 grams and the product contains 22 grams of protein, 0 fat and 1 gram UH , what about the remaining 7 grams?! Aftertaste! Otherwise, clear proteins are too expensive for what they offer. It is true that there is a hydrolyzate in some, but again that is a small difference compared to the isolate, and the price is a big difference.

It’s nasty tastes horrible and leaves your mouth dry.. complete garbage.
The cost of these powders now make them pointless it’s cheaper to buy liquid eggs and mix them with low fat milk shake … your not going get better than that as a drinkable source for your protein. Stopping all this influencer driven supplements and money grabs and starting using liquid eggs instead made a massive and I mean massive difference to my physique

So that's how u get so damn thick huh? Ya egg head! I have to agree with you on this....it's garbage in my opinion. For the higher price Whey Hydro definitely doesn't offer that much more of a benefit over a good quality Whey Protein powder, non of that cheap whey though. And can't go wrong with eggs. Basically in some instances it is a money grab for sure.

HENCH500's picture

No neck egg head …. You saying I’m Humpty Dumpty, do you guys even know about Humpty Dumpty over there?

Owes a Review × 1
DeeMan's picture

Hadn't heard Humpty name in a long time.
That comes with the territory when you're close to 300 pounds! Eventually the head and body connect as one unit lolol.

But nah man your milk and egg comment reminds me of when I was a youngster seeing that milk and egg protein powder around when whey was first sold as a supplement. Only problem with those proteins were taste but u could add flavorings.

But in all Whey hydro is way overrated for its price for sure.

Brother I finally figured out what you mean be lifting shirt , with you being slightly backwards you must me shirt lifter …. I don’t judge bro what ever gets you where you want to be in life ..
shirt lifter (plural shirt lifters) (Britain, slang) Synonym of bottom: a gay man who is penetrated or prefers to be penetrated during anal sex. Used other than figuratively or idiomatically: see shirt,‎ lifter.

used to typically describe someone who enjoys lifting up the shirt of a shirt-wearer. Usually used to describe a homosexual man who does indeed lift up the shirt of a guy just before slipping his penis up the rectum of said guy, or just before taking another man's organ into his mouth.

E.g A man drops his pants to reveal his organ, but just before receiving a gobble from the gobbler, his shirt would require being lifted up

Damn! It's like that huh? I learned something new. Plenty of shirt lifters walking around but hey I don't judge. I just know I love sexy women that's all. Just glad to be a manly man that's all.

I use eggs in my protein powder. But I make good gains on the optimum nutrition powder it get more protein down when I’m in a pinch.

HENCH500's picture

That optimum nutrition gold standard is probably the best I ever used but fuck me bro it’s expensive these days. I was getting for around £30 for 2.5kg tubs and now what is it around £80..
I buy the free range liquid egg whites now litre bottles in bulk from Amazon or eBay and low fat chocolate milk from Aldi 300ml egg whites 250ml low fat flavoured milk , shake it up in my shaker can’t even taste the eggs and it’s sitting around 50g protein. Best quality protein and works out cheaper than buying powders

Have you ever tried the UK Reflex stuff? I started off on that when I got back into training, pretty sure it was £22 for a 900g Tub but then quickly turned into £30. Then Myprotein seemed to come onto the scene and did Isolate 97% for £16 for 1kg!!! Those were the days. Now after this Ukraine war supplements have basically doubled in cost. How much Egg white liquid do you measure out into one of those shakes? I may give it a go if it blanks the egg Lol

HENCH500's picture

I do 300ml liquid egg whites and around 300ml low fat milk shake it’s good bro

What's your take on creatine out of interest? I do think as long as you take it everyday it works well, but if you lose the build up you are right back at square 1 again. Definitely seems to make a difference to rest periods.

HENCH500's picture

I think it’s important but ….. I consume enough from red meat in my diet so don’t feel the need to supplement it, for those who don’t consume a lot of red meat I would say it should be the first supplement you take over any others. I take milk thistle, magnesium and multivitamins apart from that I get what I need from my diet, I eat healthy Monday to Friday and weekends I eat healthy but I’ll also eat a pizza or tub of ice cream with my kids , takeaways and general junk food the shit that tastes good … you have to live you need balance

It's what I use after training and as the first shake on rest days mate, Whey Hydrolysate its also called. Mix it together with water and dextrose powder and it tastes great almost like fruit juice. I get it from Bulkpowders over here which I don't think you get there - but you have brands like Isopure etc which is the same thing. Make sure you get a flavour you like in fruit cordial terms and don't get anything too exotic sounding or sweet as they can be harder to drink.

Rosschestzip's picture

I think there’s actually one called “clear protein”

Owes a Review × 1
press1's picture

Its just another term for it mate to make it sound more appealing - the stuff has been around for ages, I was buying it in the US when I was 15 which is 29 years ago now when apple Isopure was out. It tasted worse then and has got less bitter over the years.

Rosschestzip's picture

I mean like a company came out and named it clear protein, I could be wrong tho. I always remember seeing the bottles of the fruit flavored Isopure in the muscular development magazine and they looked so good and refreshing lol, great marketing and design people over there

Bill1976's picture

Does it have a slimey texture like bcaa drink mix?

press1's picture

Depends on how much water you add to it, you could make it thin but I like to make it medium consistency. If you are thirsty its as easy to drink as a can of soda and at the same time you are taking in 40g of very fast acting protein.

Bill1976's picture

Thanks dude. Your always helpful on here

No worries buddy!! Good
