Don't try to bring your arms and shoulders up so high in the pose - let your shoulders sit lower and broader so that your lats flare out more, holding things up higher means your back looks narrower than it really is.

Work on pull downs...rows and stuff arm pulls. Great base! Hit those for lower beef.
