+ 1 50yr old, trying to lose weight and get back in singles tennis shape, and keep my strength

ad

Hi.
I just turned 50 4months ago, and I feel like I just can't keep my strength whenever I take time off from lifting.
I play comp tennis alot, so I need strong legs, calves, and shoulders, arms and back. I'm not a bodybuilder, or "beach body" person. But I want to crush my opponenets.

So I have been doing some TRT from NAPS for a while, taking a 1ml dose of test250 a week or so. Sometimes it's more like 10days.

So I'll strength train for a few weeks...squats, squat jumps, etc. Pairing power mvmts with explosive mvmts.

Then I'll take time off of that, and actually play. And I notice that whenever I don't lift for about 2 weeks and play comp tennis, I just lose strength SO fast.
I'm 210lb.

What do you think I should do? More test? Different type of product????? I'd love something that will help me lose some fat and also keep that strength. My real fighting weight is 180lb, which I'm working towards. I'm down 12lbs so far in 2months.

Thanks!
Burr.

You looking for those 50+ tennis singles bitches, huh? Tennis is huge at the gym I go to—it's more like a country club. Like Press said, these guys and girls are pretty lean. I came from a triathlon background myself. It feels impossible to keep your strength up when you're running around all the time. I used to do an upper-lower split in the gym two days a week, but it was more about lifting for injury prevention than for size and strength. Getting prescribed TRT by a doctor should help, and just make sure your calories stay up. I had the Apple Watch Ultra in my last race before I transitioned to a bodybuilding lifestyle. Some days, I couldn't believe how many calories I'd burn training for races. Haha, that's why I was 165 lbs and benching 95 lbs.

My suggestions:
- Lose fat with a reasonable calorie deficit of 500 or less. Getting closer to 180 will be a game-changer. Also, your joints won't be getting the shit kicked out of them. I don't run when I'm over 205, period.
- Get doctor-prescribed TRT, and explain your performance goals and roadblocks to him to determine the dose, ester, etc.
- Plenty of rest. I can't stress this enough—my gym is loaded with young athletes. The things under-30-year-olds, and especially those in their early 20s, can recover from is nuts.
- Start slow, and don't compare yourself to others.
- Keep your sleep, diet, and supplements all on point.

Lifetime Fitness by chance? That was my old gym until the demo'd all the tennis courts for pickleball!
I'm in CA so the DR's here won't do TRT unless you show levels under 400. Private clinic's will, but they are like $500/mo, for what I can buy for $50. So TRT is still the best to use? No other things like deca or winny or something?

Winstrol would work well with tennis as it makes you faster and more powerful, like the reason the Olympic sprinters tried to cheat with it Lol Anavar is another option as its a lean muscle builder, but the downside is they are orals and I just cannot see them boding well with tennis. Primobolan or EQ may be good options, you will have to get bloodwork if you went the EQ route though as it can raise hemoglobin and hemacrit somewhat.

I haven't bought Winny before, or dosed it. I'll do some research, but I'm 210lbs. What do you think a good winny dose would be, and any rec's on brands/stores? I'm hoping to find a good deal, as I finally got my crypto payment in order ready to go. took forever.

Probably 20 to 30mg per day, get the 10mg tablets. We cannot recommend sources and labs in the forums, but if you go to the homepage and click on US to show the Top 10 US domestic sources on there then they are all good. Have a look through the reviews for each one Smile

Personal I’m 35 and still PCT after a cycle. So I do not have experience with TRT personally but I know from people I talk to in the 45+ community that it can be a huge quality of life improvement. I’d definitely ask one of the more experienced guys with TRT.

Deca will lead to weight gain and water retention so probably not the best if you want to get faster and more mobile.

Also no exp with winny

Personally I would think just test would go a long way. Totally get not wanting to get killed financially for it. I’d think test e would do a fine job but would be unsure about the dosing for TRT.

I use to live for playing tennis from being a young child to later teenage years, on a number of occasions I played for the North of England and travelled up and down the country playing in the LTA Championships trying to climb up the rankings. What I can say for sure is that you will constantly be fighting a losing battle trying to keep hold of your strength when you are not in the gym and instead playing tennis - they are 2 totally opposing sports. Running around the court you are constantly burning up muscle and bodyweight, and there is no way around it. Going between the serving action and lifting weights really knackers up the shoulder too, and the snapping action of a forearm again is a much different movement to lifting a dumbell in terms of how the muscle is contracting and performing. To make sure you keep muscle earned from the gym you must more than cover the amount of calories you are burning off playing tennis - and thats pretty tough to do. You also don't want to be heavy and immobile to be an effective and competitive player either. I knew I had to make a decision between the two sports, and the way my life was at the time my head wasn't really into playing anymore so I went the weightlifting route as I enjoyed being heavier and strong. I think ultimately you will just have to find a compromise between the two things, I am not sure running more gear is the answer either. Try and consume as much protein and food as possible to limit what you lose when on the court, always fully replenish yourself after a match too in terms of meals.
