Love that feel better and enjoy life is showing through. Really is an a amazing thing once people find a healthy routine, regime and watching your labs. My freinds in my martial arts camp and I have had their life completely switch from the struggles of our mental health and physical limits. We're not weight competitor's but simple TRT, Halo, primo, Deca and HCG have done wonders for us and we been wining the top 3 spots last few competitions for our age group and still enjoying a nice after party of going on a group bike ride or doing more training for having a better quality of life. Before we would be dead and have to recoup for at least 3 days *were not in high end competition where testing is required, didn't want anyone thing were wiggling around the doping rules
Nice one mate, nice one!!! What kind of Martial Arts do you practice or do you do MMA?
I saw Mariusz Pudianowski win the world's strongest man and I said "I want to be like that guy". I also discovered I was actually good at training and liked being big and strong. As I got older in life I realized how Important training was for my mental health so now I train for well being
Yeah bloody hell - I Idolized that guy!!! I guess you are about 7 years younger than me too so will of been just out of your teenage years then?!! Thing about him was he looked awesome as well as being strong as a GOD, I mean no one could touch that guy for many years on anything. He was so much fitter too than all of them so ran rings round them - he was just awesome to watch. Kinda like Eddie Hall when he exploded onto the scene years later.
I still watch the old videos of him in Strong man, his abilities were fkn outstanding, he was just on another level and had a crazy physique. He would of made a good body builder probably, might of been too tall.
He fights in KSW a polish MMA league. He's pretty exciting to watch
Lol. That's awesome, most of us simply do it because we enjoy it. Point, end of story.
It's changed over time. When I first started it was because I got picked on alot so I made myself stronger. As I got older it was tovlook better and after my last breakup and covid happening at the same time I let it go got fat at 270lbs and now I do it for my mental health and yes to look good as well. I can honestly say if I hadn't crawled back into the gym 2 years ago i would've probably crawled into a bottle or pussy. Either one doesn't end well
LMAO Try crawling into a bottle as well as a pussy at the same time, then you really will mess up your life lol
When I was young and foolish, it was about being more attractive. Now it is just about getting bigger. Seems the bigger and more ripped I get the less attractive I become. Skinny jeans and broccoli hair is where it is at now. I do have to keep my gaydar up nowadays though .
Seriously it seems like only gay dudes appreciate it ahhaha
Hey brother great post. At this stage of my life, its a combination of everything.. a bit less on the social media side though.
I think #4 To Feel better/enjoy life more is the bigger picture that all the others tie into so that definitely gets my vote.
I get what you are saying bud - Ultimately the goal in anything we do really is to get enjoyment from it, otherwise we wouldn't do it. Unless of course its one of lifes requirements.
First and foremost, to feel better and enjoy my life more. Focusing on that helps all the other reasons fall into place on their own. I credit Eroids and all of the guidance I’ve gotten on here for helping me realize that.
Its a Healthy, stable and consistent focus to have, and to suceed at it you have to be disciplined. Having that mindset carries over into everything else that you have and value
I have body dysmorphia, always have. And being raised in a household with military veterans, fitness was simply a part of life. I wouldn’t change anything about that even if I could.
No matter what, you would always respond with 'Yes Drill Seargeant!!!'
chronologically speaking: 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, about to hit #6 soon
It's that time of year again @BFG !! - Please can we have the lights up?!
Glad you asked bro
Many Thanks Buddy!!
Me too. Almost forgot. Thanks for quick elf response
I went to Bradlees at 15 and bought a cement filled set with bar and bench. So to be completely honest my original reason was to get bigger. Id be wrong to say to feel better because thats not on a young kids mind. That was my beginning main reason lol
Bud I started off with the plastic, cement filled discs too with the hollow steel bar - thoses 2.2kg Discs were huuuggee it felt great didn't it!! Then when you progressed to the proper Iron discs and they were much smaller for the same amount of weight you felt like a pussy again LMFAO
Mine were maroon, handed down from uncle Don lol
Yeah i felt like the man. All you could fit is like 100lbs top on the bar. Might have been less than that
I think the sets over here were 35kg's all in! 4.5kg's were the size of 45lb plates Lmao
Remember the Standard diameter hole too?!! Lol
Amazing how males can be so facinated with the most basic of things .....
Like small holes?
LOL I'd never seen an Olympic size bar till I came over to the US when I was 15. Was many years until they became standard practice over here.
I lift weights to calm down. The weights don’t call the cops when you beat the shit out of them. That’s why I primarily do only compound lifts with moderate to heavy weight. Get the aggression out and release some endorphins. It’s worked so far… just got off ten years a probation and expunged my record.
To not look like an average chump physically. I look at out of shape men and I'm like how can you accept looking like that. I'd be miserable.
I find myself now, the first thing i do when i meet someone new is size up their arms like damn! Those some hanging spaghettis. And sometimes they are people that was always bigger than me when we were younger.
Lol I really don't get why people (other than due to illness) settle for looking like a fat shapeless mess. I also don't get why society is pushing people to accept these people who look like a fat shapeless mess. The cost of healthcare is so high because of those people its insane. But if you say something about it you're a fatphobic.
I like the look good aspect which comes with it, but none of it matters if your mental health is shit.
Bigger and less stress after gym time
You can always pull the trouser snake if you can't make it to the gym bro - just won't make you any bigger though! Lmao
But sure makes me happy! Haha
Those brief 5 seconds are where its at.
No one has voted to get bigger?! Was not expecting that. A better poll I cannot recall
I was expecting that to be number 1 or 2 for sure!
Would be interesting to see how users reasons change after having cycled. I think a lot of us started training for certain reasons and as we age experiences teach us the benefits of lifting hold more importance than others.
I think you become mentally reliant on it after time, as soon as you have a major injury that prevents you from training you realise how much better it makes life feel when you can no longer lift.
Absolutely. Even being ill and having a few days off the feeling of going back in even if not at full health and strength just makes you feel so much better. My mood lifts considerably when I train regardless of life’s challenges in those moments.
Kinda feel like number 4 and 6 go hand in hand. Most of us do this to be healthier/fitter, to be the best version of yourselves. The healthier and fitter we become, the more we enjoy it. The happier we become. 48yo here, been doing this off and on, mostly on for over 25 years now.
Been on both sides of this. I've been in the best shape of my life, I've been laid up several times due to 3 back surgeries. I've had a bout with cancer a little over a year ago. Always miserable and just unhappy with myself when I'm not lifting/in shape. Always happier, more content, confident version of myself when I'm in the trenches with it.
Great poll though! Love to see the end results. 4 and 6 are definitely going to be on the seasoned, aged end of this. Thanks for the post!
Glad to hear you are hopefully better now mate
Absolutely brother! Appreciate you and appreciate the post!
If you don't mind me asking - what kind of cancer was it mate?
Bladder cancer. Woke up one day and started pissing blood. Like viscous blood. Horrible shit, but it's in remission now and I'm doing my best to keep it there.
Damn mate, damn. I can imagine the utter shock of seeing that is enough to make anyone pass out. Great to hear you are in remission. I was very worried about possible colon cancer 3 or 4 months ago now, did a home stool test which was a humbling experience lol but turned out to be all clear. The older we get the more you realise you cannot afford to be messing about wondering if you should get tested or not, just get to the doctors asap.
