How often do you take a break from lifting?

ad

So, how often do you take a break and for how long? Or do you just do a light minimal week?

I never have a planned break. They just happen to pop up. I get sick, I'm on break, wife wants to go to fish fry, I take a break, have to watch the grand-daughter I take a break, want to go shoot some birds or deer I take a break, want to go camping I take a break. I never get to lift 7d/wk like I want to. Lol

Why would you be taking a break?

When there’s a pandemic and they’re all closed…..

When I have an injury, or I am forced to lol I will still try and find other exercises I can do around it though but normally the injuries I get affect multiple movements. I have tried to take a week off as a deload but after 3 days rest I cannot stand it anymore and give in.

Hell yeah, I was told three days ago that I shouldn't train legs for two weeks consecutively to allow my knee heal well and I'm so lost, I don't know what am I going to do with that much free time.

You begin to realise just how much of your day you spend focusing around your training and the recovery nutritional aspect don't you.

I need to always stay somewhat active. I’m not a bodybuilder, just a man trying to constantly alter his physique. If I had a hard labor job, I would train very sparingly. It’s about staying fit and active. That being said, I usually train 3 on 1 off. If I take longer breaks, I make sure I stay active. At the moment, I have a strained AC joint so I can’t really train much of my upper except for arms and light back but I am training lower excessively. I’m doing 2 on one off at the moment and I’m enjoying it. I can’t take off extended Periods of time because I do this as a stress reliever so even if I’m forced to take off, I make sure I stay active.

I had a grade 3 AC joint separation years ago. Nice and painful the first few nights, slept in a recliner for a month or so. Sprained the other on more recently and knew what I did immediately when I dove for a ball and landed on the shoulder. Just was hoping it wasn't as bad as before.
