+ 1 EXTREME muscle pain after testosterone crash
I came down with mysterious muscle pain and tightness all over, including my jaw and throat, and back spasms. Also chronic back pain which may be unrelated.
I went to the emergency room & they were mystified.
They did a CBC and a CMP, and some things were a bit out of range, but not by much.
I went to my doctor & she was mystified.
Then I got my results from a testosterone test, and I had 77 ng/dL, about 1/7 of what it should be.
Then I realized my PCT, which I began nearly 3 months ago, from a cycle of cypionate, deca, and anavar, had totally failed.
(200mg cyp + 200mg deca once per week; 20mg anavar every day in 2 doses; 12.5mg examestane most days.)
I'd taken a total of 7750 iu of HCG and 40iu of HMG, plus clomid from 200 down to 100 mg/day for maybe 2 weeks (I thought it was longer; I suspect I didn't update my journal).
I read that very low testosterone can cause muscle pain and lower back pain.
Has a similar thing happened to any of you?
My plan is to start injecting cypionate, 200mg every 2 weeks, with no examestane in case it's estrogen I need, and see if that makes it go away.
But it won't start to work for about a week, and this is torture. (I have no fast-acting test, tho I do have some finaplix.)
Every movement other than typing is painful. I get up out of a chair and walk like a 100-year-old.
I can't drive and can't walk very far, and have terrible balance.
BTW, if you're thinking this might be tetanus, it probably isn't. I just got a tetanus vaccine booster a few months ago.
UPDATE: It's Lyme disease. 5 out of 5 tests came back positive. Thanks to everybody who replied! I was really surprised to get so much support so quickly.

I'm no doc but It isn't test related. Lyme's, ehrlichiosis, rahbo, flu. Let the real docs figure this one out.
Yeah, it isn't test-related. I had total test measured today (after injecting 100mg cyp yesterday) & it's normal, and I'm still in pain. Also tested C-reactive protein, which came back extremely high, and sedimentation rate, which came back very high. A tick bite or an autoimmune disorder are the most-likely explanations.
They didn't figure that out when I went to the ER because I had no joint pain then, because I was on cortisone for a foot injury.
Thanks to everybody who replied! No more responses are necessary, unless you know something that acts like Borrelia+Ehrlichiosis or polymyalgia rheumatica, but isn't either of those.
That sucks, ticks are very common where I live and if I get one of the ones that has a white circle on its back and do not find it within 24 hours I become so lethargic it's unreal, can't focus and feel super fatigued. It only happens if I don't catch the tick right away and only with the ones with the circle, the solid brown ones cause no adverse effects that I can tell even if it takes a day or two to realize it is there. My doctor said it is because of the anticoagulant they inject while attached. I have found that garlic pills does a good job at keeping them at bay. Hope you get it figured out soon.
My Lyme tests all came back positive, so it was a tick. I recommend you read p. 1107 of the ILADS recommendations for Lyme treatment (www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1586/14787210.2014.940900), pick a treatment option. Ideally you'd do this with the help of your doctor, to make sure you don't have drug allergies or interactions with a treatment. Then stock up ahead of time on the antibiotics you'll need if you get a bad bite, and follow the treatment immediately rather than waiting days or weeks to go through the official process.
I’m not a physician, I’m a paramedic. My words here are not to be taken as medical advice. After saying that, don’t think I’m a dick, but here’s a few questions that answers to would help.
Why did they do a hormone panel and how did they get it back so fast?
How were your electrolytes?
Current OTC meds?
Can you post your blood results? Most hospitals have a patient portal you could screenshot.
ANY recreational drugs?
ALLERGIES?
The only reasonable, or I should say most likely, bodily responses that you’re describing would be an allergic reaction. Something you ingested, absorbed, inhaled, or were bitten by. Again, I’m not a Dr, but if I were you I’d be somewhere other than online trying to get this resolved before it turns into a cardiac response.
What’s the time frame from onset of symptoms to when you made this post?
thanks for your suggestions; tests show Lyme disease so all that is no longer neccessary.
Did the doctor mention anything about rnhabdomylosis? This sounds similar.
No, but I haven't had any injuries lately, and aren't taking any exotic drugs, so probably not that.
RustyhookerTick bite?
Yeah, my Lyme tests all came back positive.
It's only been a few weeks of this?
Hopefully no permanent effects since they can treat it quickly. Man that is shit. Do you recall having ticks?
I never found any ticks. Hard to say how long it's been going on. Could have started 2 weeks ago, when I came down with a strange double-migraine so bad I went to the ER. Could have started 6 weeks ago, when I started getting migraines almost every day. Could have started Jan 1, when I started getting migraines about half of all days.
Shit look at this, right on the front page of drudge
https://www.wsj.com/articles/tick-season-diseases-lyme-backyards-39599226
oh shit man, I'm sorry to hear that
The doc says either that, or an autoimmune disease.
RustyhookerBoth do hit on all those complaints. Need further testing. Good luck sir
It's possible you caught a virus but it's hard to tell of course.
TricepatopsSymptoms to vague to make any assumptions. Doubt it is from low test but what did the doctor say about your low test? Could be nerve problems or fibromyalgia but you definitely need more tests done to get a diagnosis.
Dopesick! Sniff some chinese fentanyl and your aches will go away. Jusy kidding. Thats a fast way to the morgue. But ER visit worthy? Definitely not low test. Possible you were bitten by a tick. Doesnt necessarily have to contract lime disease but still can give you the same symptoms.
Yes; I had 5 different Lyme tests, and they all came back positive.
Then there you have it. My sister and best friend have lime and the pains are chronic. Nothing to helps they say
Sorry to hear this. I can't point a finger on what the root cause of this is but low estrogen isn't helping the situation at all. I'd definitely go see the Doctor. You mentioned finaplix, lol don't even bother with that in your situation cause it WON'T help, in fact it's gonna make situation even worse. It's not like finaplix is a feel good hormone anyways. Also you've been off cycle 3 months or longer but for some deca is still lingering causing htpa shutdown. We gotta remember that Decanoate ester half life is a beast for hanging around., takes awhile. After deca 3 months is sufficient for some for recovery and others need longer time to recover. Safety first my man.
Achey joints from low testosterone, yes. Muscle weakness, yes. Extreme pain, (enough for you to go to ER), not from low testosterone. Not that severe.
Note in your profile you suffer with arthritis. I’m thinking, like Jake, something else going on here. Annoyingly for you, you’ve already been to ER and the doc and got nowhere, but needs to be explored. Don’t leave it.
Hope things improve.
Yeah don't just go on test. Let your doc figure it out. Doesn't really sound like low T. Could be other shit wrong. My wife had bad sciatica once but some therapy relieved the pain after several months.
I know with Test E once you have pinned it, it then peaks 24hrs later. I assume it will be the same kind of deal for cypionate. So if you think it could be this or rather want to definitely find out then the quickest way would be to pin 400mg and see if you begin feeling better after a day. When I front load 400mg it hits pretty hard so that amount will make a difference rather than waiting a much longer time. Obviously only do this though if you are definitely going to go the TRT route.
Low estrogen can cause some joint pain and if there's no test then there's no estrogen. But it sounds like something else may be wrong. Before jumping into shooting test again get a full work up and make sure there's not issues anywhere else. Safety first always
I’m sorry, but that doesn’t sound like low T to me. There has to be more going on there.
