What Size T.V ya got?

ad

Okay not exactly Steroid related but I figured its still kind of relevant since you gotta have a great T.V to be able to sit in front of as you chow down all the food we eat on a daily basis, nothing like sticking some Netflix on and eating a tasty meal Lol

About 5 days ago my Bravia 55" decided it was finally no longer going to play ball and stay on for longer than 30 seconds per time before turning itself off again, to be honest I've had problems with it ever since I bought it turning itself on and off during the night. The T.V engineer came out and took it back to the workshop to investigate and it turns out the 'Motherboard' needs to be replaced which Sony no longer make for that model! So basically it means buying a new TV even though this one was only 6 years old.

I am debating getting a Samsung 65" this time so it can totally dominate my lounge! lol What size does everyone else like to watch here and what brand do you have? I had an LG 42" that was pretty cheap and got 11 years out of before this one so am wondering if brand really matters when it comes to T.V's.

I have seen a few of those and wondered how they were!

@JakeKO You got it set up yet bud? Smile

JakeKO's picture

It’s all set up and fking AWESOME!!! Worth every penny. Picture and sound quality are great. Lovin it! Hope your day goes smoother than mine did yesterday. Installation was pretty easy. Be sure NOT to cut the plastic straps on the box. They keep the box together. You don’t have to pull the tv out of the box. When you cut the straps, the box slides apart. Hope that makes sense.

Sorry for the late response. After the whole episode we went through getting this thing home, we decided to have a drink and a joint, and watch one last movie on our old TV.. She definitely made it all worth my while last night, LOL! Setting the new TV up this morning. Hoping it goes smoother than the purchase. Haha.

I feel Ya Bro, I feel ya Lmfao I've been sat staring at the empty space in front of me the past few nights feeling a little sad and guilty, as the TV engineers never actually brought mine back it meant I never got the chance to say Goodbye to my old one. You have to think of all the thousands of hours you spent in each others company, the fun times and the sad times, some of the things it saw you doing on the couch. Still its onwards and upwards now to experience new and exciting things!! Its like welcoming a new family member lol

JakeKO's picture

Holy shit, Bro, you have no idea. So, she talks me into it to the point I’m excited, and we leave to go get it. I warned her that it wasn’t going to fit in the truck and that I should bring straps, but she convinced me that I was wrong, that was the first mistake. We get to the store and all the 75” HighSense were sold out. Opted for the Phillips over the Samsung because of the volume issue. I pay for it and proceed to my SUV to find the box is almost the size of the truck, and no chance of fitting in the back. Ok, no big deal, I’ll strap it to the roof. I look for the straps I keep in the trunk, and they’re gone. She didn’t like having them in her SUV, so she took them out last week. SMH! So I go back into Walmart, can’t find straps anywhere. Finally find them, buy them,, go back outside to strap it to the roof, and the sky opens up and starts pouring rain. FML. Waited about an hour for the rain to pass, and when we go to roll it outside, some douche bag manager runs up and barks out loud that he needs to see my receipt. I took a deep breath, went it my wallet and showed him the receipt. He gives me a big jerkoff smile and tells me to have a nice day. Thank God I’m off cycle this month. Strapped it to the truck and got it home. I told her that if she thinks I’m installing tonight, she’s out of her mind. So she says, “Thank God you aren’t running Tren or that manager would probably be dead right? I just laughed and downed my shot of Tequila and laid on the couch for the rest of the night. Ugh!

Of all the times it would start raining!!! Lol

SMH...

First, we men, seeped in self-doubt on our "male attributes", compensate with a fast sports car, or a big truck... now it's TV's?

I'm worried a bit about @JakeKO, rushing out to buy a BIG TV. JakeKO, are you ok dude? The wife treating you well? I just want to let you know from all your bros here on eroids; That you're Good Enough, you're Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like you!

Now please don't spend the next couple of weeks talking about how yours is 75 inches. Stay humble. Remember, it's not the size... it's how you use it. I might have only 40 inches, but you won't see a romcom or hallmark special on my set... No siree Bob, just sports, news, Westerns and SiFi... unless of course when the wife is home.

JakeKO's picture

It’s crazy how much power they have over us, but as long as I never get a NO in bed, she can ask me for anything. She’s getting hottter by the day from training so hard, so I feel like I’m banging a model every day, at 52 years old, still every damn day!!! God bless the gym, eroids, and all the sources that give me this awesome life, LOL. A little more money wouldn’t hurt, but I guess you can’t have everything, LOL! Oh, did I mention she cooks like a chef on a daily basis???? I struck gold with this chick, she can have her TV, at some point today that is. I better get in it soon, or the bitch will come right out of her. Sometimes I think her body produces Tren naturally, LOL.

JakeKO's picture

LMAO!!!!

FJB's picture

LMAO

JakeKO's picture

Ok, so my wife asked me this morning why I was up so late. So I told her I was up discussing TV’s with you guys. So she says, “Why, are we finally getting the big TV I’ve been wanting?”

Well, FML! $600.00 later, and a nightmare getting it home, I just bought a 75” Phillips Ultra HD. I’m done with this shit for the day and will install it tomorrow morning. I’ll let you know how it goes, LOL!

press1's picture

LMFAO That's hilarious mate - Did you have it hanging out the back of your truck? That is one huge TV to get home by yourself. I almost did the purchase today but its been carried over to tomorrow now. I bet once you had dinner you got it all installed, especially if it made the wife happy. Have you been pre-loading the Viagra since then for later on??! LOL

Size of the TV should match the size of the room, i.e. how much space there is between the wall and your couch.
Put a giant TV in a small room close to the couch and your eyes aren't going to have a good viewing experience.
I recently got a LG LED 55" 4K with a matching LG sound bar/subwoofer, it's 6.5 feet from my couch and I'm happy with it.
Also keep in mind that a 4K TV will have the same number of pixels regardless of its 55" or 65".

press1's picture

For sure bud, I'm sat about 12ft from where my TV is. The 55" was actually fine and looked pretty big as it was, I was going to get another that size but its the same old story once I went into the shop for a look around. Its like comparing any of them though as I went down the aisles the bigger they got the more impressive they looked lol I remember back to when 42 was classed as huge.

JakeKO's picture

I’m actually hoping this new 75” doesn’t look retarded in my Den. No the biggest room in the house, but it’s where we spend most of our time

Tommywh79's picture

Get a LG bro no matter what always LG every Samsung I've had died in 2 years I have 2 LG's one 12 year's and one 10 years still going strong.

JEX30Sex's picture

I love LG. I get there phones exclusively. I shot one with a nail gun by accident and it continued work fine for another 16 mos.

Tommywh79's picture

See now when it comes to phones I can honestly say I usually stick to Samsung or Motorola, I never even thought about getting a LG phone but now that you brought that to my attention I'm definitely going to look into it.

press1's picture

I normally just get a new Galaxy each time my contract is up for renewal too, find them really easy to use and great operating system etc. I wanted to get another 6.7" one but was limited to the 22 Ultra which I couldn't afford but came across the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra which is still the same size so went for that. It looks pretty good actually, big and slim, great cameras. Of course the new Samsung 23 Ultra has come out now but in all honesty just cannot justify the monthly charge for it - the Motorola's are pretty cheap for what they provide. Plus you get that sexy sounding woman saying 'Moto' all the time LMAO

Tommywh79's picture

Shit i would love to get a Samsung fold but the 1800 dollar price tag is not even something I would consider. But I did drop a thousand on the S9+ when it first came out. That shit still works perfectly minus the shattered screen.

UncleYoked's picture

Had a samsung, it died after a few years as well

Tommywh79's picture

These days we are just paying for the name, Samsung is like ( just throw some shit in there and write Samsung on the front, better yet write OLED on the box and charge them a extra 500 ) lol

press1's picture

Damn really, 2 years? Did you manage to get a replacement or is the warranty just for 1 year?

Tommywh79's picture

I think the warranty is only for 90 days if you don't buy any extended warranty. So I threw it away and bought a LG. So now when it comes to TV'S I stick to LG'S. that's my experience with TV'S it may help you with your decision on what kind to purchase. So good luck.

Caner's picture

Definitely Samsung Qled dude. There is nothing better than television.

Bill1976's picture

55 inch. Thinking about upgrading.

JakeKO's picture

I just bought my son a 50” Highsense for his birthday last week and the thing is awesome. Everything about it is awesome and only cost me $200 at Shop Right, LOL. It uses a Google Smart platform.

press1's picture

I am going to go back into the showroom and compare them in person as its always so much better doing it that way, its like a woman - NEVER just go off the online picture!!

press1's picture

Ya know I remember when I was a kid and got my first TV in my bedroom, it was our old TV that we had in the lounge and I was over the absolute moon about it. It was about 15" and a box - had 4 channels and this tiny little speaker on the front. The AMAZING thing about it though was it was a COLOUR T.V!!!!! LMAO That little thing made me soooo happy at the time, kids these days don't know how good they have it LOL

JakeKO's picture

I must be a little older than you, because my first as a kid was a 15” black and white, yet I was happy as hell and got to stay up late to watch WWF and Saturday Night live without getting yelled at for still being awake, LOL. These kids got it made these days

press1's picture

Yep I'm living my final days as a 42 year old AAaaagghhh!!!! Lmao

LIFE - Blink and you missed it, I remember being 21 and looking at anyone who had reached 25 years old and thinking they are middle aged. 30 was like it was definitely over LMAO Now about to turn 43 Jesus .... Where does it go??

JakeKO's picture

It’s crazy! I turned 52 in September, but thanks to HGH, I look about 35, thank god. All my friends look all sloppy and old, and have no idea why I’m not aging like them. Funny thing is that I partied harder than all of them back in the day. You would think I would be the mess these days. God bless the gym, gear, and my hot wife that loves working out. If it weren’t for her, I’d probably be a lazy piece of shit, LOL

press1's picture

Man I am really glad I posted this question now - I seen those Hisense ones too and they are really well priced!! Never heard of the brand before but are they any good bud? I do have a sound bar that I can add to it. I want a 75 incher now!!! Lol But cannot afford it.

JakeKO's picture

Trust me, you won’t need the sound bar with the Highsense. I have to keep telling my kid to turn it down. Sound quality is awesome.
