Herniated or Bulging disk treatment

ad

I think I herniated or at a minimum have a bulging disk pressing on a nerve in my neck. I have severe pain in the base of my neck and sharp and aching pain through my shoulder blade into my shoulder and down my arm. I was doing heavy deadlifts and I felt it and now I have a lump on the base of my neck. I have an appointment Friday but I know he’s going to set me up for an MRI.
Has this ever happened to any of you? And if so what treatment did receive and what was the outcome. Spine shit scares me.

Starting spinal decompression tomorrow. I will keep you guys posted hopefully it works. It’s a slow process but what do I have to lose.

Best of luck! I had it this summer and it changed my life. Out of pain for the first time in 8 years.

Happy to hear that

This is the message I received from my primary.

X-ray shows straightening of spine possibly from spasm. There is some narrowing at C5-C6. You may need MRI of cervical spine if neck pain does not improve. I would follow up with Ortho Dr Davis. I was hoping for a trap muscle issue.

When did this actually happen and how long has it been like this? Have you given it any time to see if it is a pulled neck muscle or trap and given it any time to heal? I would give it a week or 2 before worrying too much about discs but then again if the pain is very severe and not just muscular then you know your suspicions on it.

This actually happened a few years back and I thought it was a pulled or partially torn muscle but never got it looked at. My girl told me I feel a lump in you neck but I did t feel it so I thought she was being the usual drama queen. Now after this episode I can feel a nice lump. Maybe it was slightly bulging and now I herniated the disk. Hopefully it’s a pulled trap like Shreddd said. I have an appointment

I pulled my left trap about 8 months ago now doing deficit deadlifts when I just started to do them, I think the increased range of motion caused it to pull as I wasn't use to the movement before as usual I went as heavy as possible lol I felt it at the top when I held it for a few seconds and the pain felt like it ripped down through my back and kinda into my chest. I kept getting the pain for the next 6 weeks after that - what you will find mate is that trap pain radiates to many other areas so you will think you are injured in that area also. When I would be pressing the pain could be felt right across my chest into my shoulder making me think my chest was about to tear at any moment. Very strange sensation. For it to heal you have to stay off the deads as it will reactivate the soreness every time and also don't carry other heavy things such as dumbells on that side for a while.. Even at first just mopping my apartment made it sore moving the mop around. Its a bitch as you can't turn your neck either Lol

Shit Press I ONLY use dumbbells. For years I have only used dumbbells and when I workout with friends I’m much much stronger because of the core muscles always being worked I believe.

The lump on the base of your neck that you mentioned which came after you felt the injury....doesn't sound good. I'd head to the ER if pain gets unbearable, but some ice and NSAID like aleve or advil for pain relief until your doctor appt might be helpful. Hope it subsides and it isn't too serious when you see your doctor bro.

It’s really painful. I have an appointment on Friday. Doubt I can make it that far. Nothing helps. Advil, Motrin, not even some oxy that I had sitting in my bathroom from a surgery I had but never took them so I know it’s not good. Hope I’m wrong though.

I have 3 I’m my lower back and the electric shocks and pins and needles became unbearable so I had an epidural. It definitely took the edge off.

I did injections for my L4-5 stenosis, for 8 years (max of 3 a year.) It kept things livable, until they stopped working. Had to have decompression surgery this summer. Good to report that it was a complete success. No more pain. I really wish I would have done it sooner.

Holy shit that sounds tough. I had an epidural last week because my L4 and L5 are herniated and compressing a berve making have serious electric shocks, pins & needles and numbness. It helped but I didn’t do it myself. LoL
