Bad B3 (Niacin) Reaction
ad
Friday I received a new vitamin order and decided to add B3 to my vitamin regimen. 30 minutes after taking one 500mg capsule I noticed my skin heating up and started changing color. A few minutes later I looked like I was in the sun for hours. My skin was beet red from head to toe. I took a cold shower and had to take the popular pink allergy pills. It took about 3 hours to Clear up. Has anyone had the same reaction?

I read that it was an adverse effect of niacin in the "nicotinic acid" form.
There is also "No flush" niacin which helps to avoid these undesirable effects.
Yup that’s what happens niacin!!!
Do you think it’s worth taking?
Why not just take a multivitamin. And my opinion. No it’s not worth it. Rusty left you a link below. You should read it
I skimmed through it. I was planning on reading it thoroughly. I guess I will get on that now.
RustyhookerAfter a cycle or as needed to help cholesterol...sure! But a lil research so youre not on fire or getting bad sides.
Rusty I know how important the B family is but I never heard of the niacin flush. I have used it a long time ago with no sides. Either I was different or the vitamin was BS. I usually try to get my vitamins from food when possible.
RustyhookerYou probably got slow released niacin. It wont hit like a bee hive. The old days 50mg before steppin on stage was a thing. Felt like full body buzz. Lol!
I still take a megaB each morning just because water solubility and try to eat the leafys too.
Thanks Rusty.
At least you know it is the real deal.
Horrible feeling though. I think I will do without it. I’m reading only 25mg is necessary but I have 500mg caps
Normal it's niacin flush.
Rustyhooker500mg? Holy mackeral

That’s the dosage of 1 capsule
TricepatopsIt is completely normal. It is opening up your blood vessels. Start at a half a pill and work way up. You could also take a Benadryl or even an aspirin to calm it down some. The reaction you feel shows it is working.
The B3 I have is capsules @ 500mg. Does this eventually stop?
TricepatopsIt will get milder as you work up to it. Some doctors have patients on 2000mgs a day I couldn't imagine that. But yea it will eventually go away. If you can open capsule sprinkle a little bit out and slowing work way up. Also google some remedies up to stop the flush somewhat I think an aspirin or Benadryl helps. Also the flush free kind DOES not have the same benefits as the flush kind. So do not buy flush free thinking you get same benefits.
This dose is the best lower doses do not work the same that is why they come in 500mgs. Also if you take it right before you sleep you might sleep through it, for me I usually do but sometimes I do wake up. Also the sides get shorter with each dose. If you stay consistent with it it will eventually subside to where it is tolerable but if you skip days then you start to get the sides again.
Thanks for that info Tri. I will dump half out and take it from there. I will take the Benadryl first then the B3.
