Bad B3 (Niacin) Reaction

ad

Friday I received a new vitamin order and decided to add B3 to my vitamin regimen. 30 minutes after taking one 500mg capsule I noticed my skin heating up and started changing color. A few minutes later I looked like I was in the sun for hours. My skin was beet red from head to toe. I took a cold shower and had to take the popular pink allergy pills. It took about 3 hours to Clear up. Has anyone had the same reaction?

I read that it was an adverse effect of niacin in the "nicotinic acid" form.

There is also "No flush" niacin which helps to avoid these undesirable effects.

Why not just take a multivitamin. And my opinion. No it’s not worth it. Rusty left you a link below. You should read it

I skimmed through it. I was planning on reading it thoroughly. I guess I will get on that now.

Rusty I know how important the B family is but I never heard of the niacin flush. I have used it a long time ago with no sides. Either I was different or the vitamin was BS. I usually try to get my vitamins from food when possible.

At least you know it is the real deal.

Horrible feeling though. I think I will do without it. I’m reading only 25mg is necessary but I have 500mg caps

Thanks for that info Tri. I will dump half out and take it from there. I will take the Benadryl first then the B3.
